Unbeknownst to him, Daniel never really left the Generals office. Well not right away. He stayed for about half the phone call to the president.

"Yes Mr. President. No it isn't a serious matter. It has been brought to my attention that two of my officers are very much in love and would like a chance to prove themselves. No, it was someone that felt it to be in their best interests, and I have been assured that they haven't broken the regulations. Yes Mr. President I realize it is a problem."

At this point Daniel started to become quite anxious, so his decided to visit the president. Instantly he was listening to the other end of the conversation, in the president personal office.

Yes Mr. President I realize it is a problem. Are these two officers by any chance Col. O'Neill and Maj. Carter. I thought so. Well George, I'm going to have to think about it for a day of so. Luckily you caught me at the right time. I don't have much on my plate right now. Right, I'll get back to you in a few days. Good-Bye George."

He hung up the phone and sat back in his chair. He appeared to be pondering the situation, so Daniel decided to help him out. With the customary bright flash of light, Daniel Jackson was standing in front of he president of the United States of America.

"Hello Mr. President.""

"Oh, My. How do you get in here? What-"

"What am I doing here? Well, I came to help you out with getting the answer to that phone call you just got from General Hammond. Jack and Sam want nothing more then to be together, but aren't going to break regulations. Especially Jack. He won't risk her career like that. It's tearing them up inside and one of these days you are gonna lose one, or both of you best officers 'cause they are gonna go insane. Trust me Sir, allowing this relationship is definitely in your best interest."

"Ah, well then. I guess you have me convinced. Realize it will take a couple of days."

"Sir, they've waited six years and they don't know we are doing this for them. I don't think they'll mind."

"Right."

"I'll be getting out of your way then. Good-Bye Sir."

And he was gone. And like last time, he wasn't really gone. He just wanted to see how it would play out.
