Buffy kicked the vampire in the face, and then she traded blows with it.
She did a low kick and knocked him off his feet, and then she staked him
right in the heart. She stood up and said,
"That wasn't so hard."
She headed to her home. Her mind had felt so cluttered lately, like there was too much going on. Well duh, Buffy. Your undead boyfriend just walked off without as much as a goodbye. He just stood there and stared at you. It was true. But Buffy didn't want to believe she had let Angel make her this way.
The only thing she had was her friends and Watcher, Giles. She also had her mom but she could never actually get involved in any of this because she might get killed. That night she had a dream about Angel. He was in L.A fighting vamps for the good side. But why would she be dreaming about that? Oh, right, because he seemed to be the only thing on the back of her mind. She had to keep pushing him there in order to pay attention to what was going on around her. A little before Angel left she had defeated the Mayor and before that she pit Faith in a coma. Buffy still couldn't believe she had done that to that. All to save Angel's life.
But after Buffy had let Angel feed off of her, he just up and left. Maybe it was time to find out why. After all, she had had a dream he was in L.A, so maybe he was. She had asked her best friends, Willow Rosenberg and Xander Harris to help her find him in the morning. They found some newspapers saying someone fighting people from a gang in an alley. They found more stuff that pretty much said that, but that was all they got. So Buffy headed to L.A in a bus. All she really had to do was look in alleyways. It took a while to get there, but she got there. At first she was having no luck and slaying vamp after vamp was starting to make her tired. The last vamp she was gonna fight started choking her and she couldn't do anything, her muscles were refusing to respond. Then it evaporated in a cloud of dust. Angel was standing there.
"Thanks. If you hadn't done that I would probably be dead," Buffy said, holding her neck.
"Buffy, what are you doing here?" Angel asked.
"To tell you the truth, I'm kind of not sure. I mean, I think I came to find out if I was the reason you left or not. Or maybe just telling me if you're okay here, that would be great."
Angel stared at her. "It wasn't because of you. I just didn't want to hurt you again. After I fed off of you, I started to wonder if I was putting you in danger. Which I was, because someone always wanted to kill you."
"That's because I'm The Slayer. It wasn't because of you. I felt safe with you there. Now I feel like I have no one," Buffy said, almost crying.
Angel was silent. Then he turned away and said," That's not true. You have Xander and Willow."
"And who do you have Angel?" Buffy asked him.
"I've made a few friends here."
"Oh. So you won't come back?" Buffy asked hopefully.
"No. I can't. I'm sorry if I'm hurting you by not being there, but just know that it's for your own good.and safety," Angel said softly.
"So that's it. Well, since I didn't really get to say goodbye last time, then I'll say it now. Goodbye, Angel. I'll always love you."
"Goodbye, Buffy. I'll always love you too, but it can't happen."
"Right, well, are we friends?" Buffy asked.
Angel nodded. Buffy walked off, she would probably catch another bus back home. Angel stood there, staring after her., wondering if he did the right thing. He shook his head and walked off the opposite direction. While Buffy was on the bus, she felt better. Like a weight had been lifted. She could finally move on with her life, and it felt so good, but Angel would always be in her heart, and Buffy in his, and they both knew it.
