Nigel turned to the wall and put his fist right through it. "That's not good enough!" he yelled in frustration.

Karen jumped and gasped. As soon as he realized what he'd done, he regretted it. Still, he was so angry. Sydney was fighting for her life in surgery after being struck by a bullet.

Derek had asked Sydney to find a relic for him in a race against the Gural Nataz. The CIA had an interest in one of the members and had been hoping that Sydney could bring them to a point where they would be able to grab their target and then use him for further information in a collaboration with Interpol.

"I know this is frustrating, Nigel, but Sydney's going to be fine," Karen said. "She's strong."

"I know that." He crossed his arms before using his left hand to push up his glasses and pinch the bridge of his nose. "It's just, she's in there fighting for her life, and there's nothing I can do. Nothing!" He paced the waiting room. "What am I supposed to do?"

"We wait, Nigel." Karen moved to him and placed a hand on his arm, stopping his pacing.

They waited.
