Hi everyone! So at Halloween, not only did I read the newest AU dump chapter, I also happened to re-watch the 2010 Alice in Wonderland. Then my obviously malfunctioning brain went to work on this.

Warning: This work contains shrinking and growth but no vore or fetish. If this is still not your cup of tea then you may want to reconsider reading this.

Disclaimer: I do not own anything from Warriors, just this very strange plot.

Sandpaw trudged to her nest, looking exhausted. As she slipped into the apprentice's den, Dustpaw followed, stumbling over his feet. Firepaw watched the duo curiously. He knew that Sandpaw was almost fully grown, but why did it look like she had to squeeze into the entrance? She wasn't that big!

"Must have been a rough training session." He observed, Greypaw nodding in agreement over his vole. The two youngsters had just finished their own training session, Firepaw and Greypaw having practiced their dueling. Greypaw continued to gain the upper paw every match as all he had to do was simply squish the smaller kitten to the ground.

Greypaw sniggered. "Yeah, they're not as awesome as us. Even a little furball like you."

"Oi! Who brought in more prey last hunting session?" Firepaw mewed indignantly. Greypaw soured and Firepaw realized he may have hit a nerve.

"Sorry about that. I didn't mean anything by it." He meowed anxiously. Greypaw grinned at him. "Nah, it's fine. Besides, the only reason you're so good at hunting is because you're taking care of old grumpy-fur over there." He teased, nodding at Yellowfang, who was moodily watching the camp proceedings.

In retaliation, Firepaw leapt at Greypaw. As they tumbled, neither noticed Bluestar making her way over to the old medicine cat. Yellowfang made no notice as they both watched the two young toms wrestling until Tigerclaw, who was going to retrieve some fresh kill, hissed at them. Bluestar shook her head as Greypaw used the distraction to flatten Firepaw. Again.

"Something on your mind?" Yellowfang meowed.

Bluestar sighed. "I was just thinking that it will be good for both of them to go through the obstacle course. Firepaw needs to learn how to use his size to his advantage while Greypaw must learn that he cannot always expect to be the biggest cat in battle. And both need more experience in using their heads!"

Yellowfang gazed at the Thunderclan leader curiously. "I've heard this "obstacle course" mentioned a couple of times at some Gatherings, but I never understood why it's such a big deal."

To her surprise, Bluestar purred. "Don't worry, we'll show you."

Two mornings later, Firepaw and Greypaw were led away from camp towards the Tallpines. They had been forbidden breakfast when they had emerged from the apprentice's den and walked quietly behind their respective mentors and, surprisingly, Yellowfang, who looked uncharacteristically intrigued.

The training patrol stopped suddenly. Firepaw found himself facing what looked to be a very large rabbit hole. Were they expected to catch rabbits? Stealing a glance at Greypaw, he saw that the other apprentice looked just as mystified as him.

Bluestar scanned both kittens. "The pair of you will need to be able to fight, hunt and serve your clan as best you can, no matter the circumstances. Some tasks your clan may ask of you are not always as straightforward as battle. This obstacle course will help assess your problem-solving capabilities as well as your teamwork. You have until the end of the day to make your way out. You start- now!" Bluestar finished with a yowl.

So focused on Bluestar that neither apprentice noticed Lionheart stalk quietly behind them until it was too late. At Bluestar's yowl, he shoved both startled toms into the hole.

"So…you try to kill your apprentices?" Yellowfang drawled once the yells from the two young toms faded away. She had been startled but figured that Thunderclan didn't just murder two youngsters…right? One Brokenstar in the forest was more than enough!

Lionheart chuckled. "Not at all. Come see." Yellowfang followed the golden deputy to what looked like a field of clear spaces with narrow grassy lanes separating each segment of the strange clear material. Bluestar followed closely behind.

"Our histories tell us that this training ground was first created by Starclan at the dawn of the clans in an effort to train cats of all sizes so that every cat in the clan, no matter how big or small, had a chance of being great warriors." Bluestar explained, taking a seat next to the bewildered she-cat.

"Let's see how young Firepaw fares." The leader murmured.

Meanwhile, young Firepaw was quite disoriented. After being knocked down the hole, he and Greypaw had tumbled down, on and on, hitting each other as much as the walls, until suddenly he stopped.

Shaking his head, he found himself in a sort of underground clearing. Rather than trees, however, he was surrounded by stone walls that while being very high, did not reach the ground above leaving quite a lot of empty space in between, and he seemed to be at a dead-end. This must be a rabbit warren!

Then it hit him. Where was Greypaw? They had just been falling together!

"Greypaw? GREYPAW?! Where are you?" He yowled.

"Over here!" A muffled voice yelled. "Don't know where here is though? How do we get out?"

Firepaw looked around. Maybe he should try turning back…but look! There was water. Following the trail, he saw a small mouse-sized opening in the wall ahead.

"Hey Greypaw, the walls don't seem to go all the way to the top so I'm going to try and climb it." Hearing an affirmative that his friend was going to try the same, he threw himself at the wall, trying to gain purchase with thorn sharp claws. But it was fruitless. The walls had been worn smooth with time.

With a resigned sigh, the flame-colored tom slumped against the wall. If only he weren't so hungry and thirsty- maybe, then he could come up with a plan! He looked at the stream next to him. Well, he could resolve one of those at least. He took three gulps from the stream and looked back up, resolving to find a way out.

Only to become very disoriented. He felt like he was falling, yet his paws never left the ground! He watched the walls rise even higher in front of him and nothing felt real. Meanwhile, it felt as if his whole body was surrounded by a gentle yet insistent pressure, and the water felt like ice flowing through his veins. At last, the feeling subsided.

I must be feeling weird from hunger. Firepaw guessed. But wait. If he was imagining it, why did the stream look much bigger? Before, it would have only taken him a large step to cross it. Now it looked like he would have to take a running leap to cross it! And the opening at the base of the wall was now large enough for him to comfortably pass through. A quick glance at himself showed he was still normally proportioned, but...

He fell on his behind as he came up with the only logical conclusion available. Somehow, he had shrunk!

"Greypaw!" He yowled, then flinched. His voice sounded much higher, like it had when he was only two or three moons. Turning back to the wall, he studied it and the stream again before padding through. Finding himself in another tunnel, Firepaw turned back towards where he last heard Greypaw's voice. He saw another similarly sized opening and he could just make out grey-colored paws (rather large paws!) pacing frantically on the other side.

"Greypaw!" He squeaked. "I know it sounds weird but drink the water."

"What? And why do you sound so strange?" His companion's voice boomed.

"Just do it!"

Firepaw was able to duck down towards the opening and watch as his friend did as instructed, taking great gulps of the water. With a yowl that steadily increased in pitch, Greypaw also shrunk down. Firepaw noticed that he grew even smaller than him. Normally he came to the bottom of Greypaw's chin, but now the other apprentice only came up to about his shoulder. Maybe because he drank more of the water than he did?

"F-Firepaw, what's happening?" He asked clearly frightened as he scrambled through the opening.

"I don't know, this place is weird. Let's just get out of here."

"But what if we're stuck like this forever! How can we go back to the clan looking like this! Mice are bigger than us now, we can't even hunt!" Greypaw wailed.

"I don't think we will be. Remember, Bluestar sent us down here, right? They wouldn't have sent us if this was lasting." Firepaw tried to convince himself that this must be true, feeling very glad as his friend's trembling subsided.

As the two apprentices did their best to make sense of the confusion around them, Yellowfang and Bluestar watched from high above. Lionheart rumbled next to them. "I had hoped Greypaw wouldn't panic like this."

Yellowfang gaped. "Not panic? Not panic?! Who wouldn't panic! How in Starclan do you Thunderclan cats survive your training?" She yowled.

Bluestar merely watched patiently. "The effects of this place are temporary, only lasting at most a day. No one has ever even been hurt going through the course."

"But what is the point of this?" Yellowfang demanded. "I know you don't like kittypets but why would you send Firepaw in there!" As much she hated to show her feelings, she cared for the fire-colored scamp and was very protective of him.

Bluestar hissed. "I just said no one has ever been hurt doing this. I would never send Firepaw into certain peril." She chose to ignore the medicine cat's disbelieving snort in favor of monitoring the apprentice in question. She murmured so quietly that Yellowfang barely caught it, "But we need to know how strong the fire can be."

Far below, unaware of their audience, the two frightened apprentices continued to traverse to large labyrinth. Trying to lighten the mood, Greypaw started joking about the new difference in size. "For once, you're not a scrawny little runt." He teased. This earned him a snort.

"Greypaw, right now we're both scrawny little runts." Firepaw rolled his eyes.

"Oh no, not only did you shrink but now you're starting to sound like Sandpaw. This place must be cursed." Greypaw pretended to swoon dramatically. Suddenly, Firepaw whirled around and promptly squished Greypaw to the ground. "I figured I should take advantage of the opportunity." He purred as Greypaw struggled to his feet and glowered before shrugging.

"Fair, I would've done it too."

Before Firepaw could retort further, the rather small pair found themselves at yet another dead end.

"Now what?" Ferocious snarling came from behind them. Slowly turning they found themselves face to face with… a mouse. Normally Firepaw would have been quite eager to see it as he could prove that he was improving as a hunter.

But now the mouse was the same size as him and even bigger than Greypaw, which kinda put a damper on things.

"Be ready to move Greypaw" the flame-colored apprentice whispered as the rodent advanced. As the mouse lunged forward, both apprentices leapt sideways and quickly circled around. As Firepaw distracted the now monstrous prey by attacking its tail, Greypaw sprang onto the creature's neck. Before it knew what had happened, Greypaw had bitten deep into its neck, severing its jugular.

As the mouse gurgled and fell into death twitches, Greypaw jumped down and made his way to Firepaw. Both toms were panting and shaking. Greypaw recovered first.

"Ha, that'll show that mangy mouse who's boss!" He crowed.

"That'll be something to brag about," Firepaw panted. "How it took two apprentices to take down a single mouse." He had to chuckle at Greypaw's glare.

His chuckling stopped when both their stomachs growled in unison. Without thinking about it, Greypaw leaned forward to take a bite.

"Oi! The clan gets fed first, remember!" That stopped the grey tom.

"Is it a good idea to actually bring food from here back to camp?" Greypaw wondered. "What if it shrinks them? Heck what if it shrinks us?"

Firepaw considered it for a moment. "Maybe we should test it first- you know, so we don't bring back rotten fresh kill. And to be honest, I don't know how much further we can go without food."

He continued. "But let me try it first. If something happens to me then Thunderclan won't be down a warrior. Just a-" here he hesitated, "just an outsider."

Greypaw whimpered in protest. "Firepaw, no-" But it was too late. Firepaw had just meant to take one cautious bite, but he was so hungry he ended up taking three big ones instead.

He sat back. "Huh, I don't feel any-" He startled as the tingling resumed. But rather than the walls rising, they started to sink. He felt as if someone was gently pushing all of him outwards. Higher and higher his vantage point became. First, he was looking at the middle of the wall, then the top, and then-

"Greypaw, look! I can see the exit! And I think I'm back to normal!" He boomed, missing Greypaw's flinch. For dead ahead was a light-filled tunnel that traveled upwards. Thrilled by finding a way out of this strange place, he momentarily forgot that his friend couldn't see. Once he remembered however, he looked down.

Honestly, from his new perspective and the rather dim lighting, he had a hard time telling which of the shapes by his foot was Greypaw and which was the mouse. He soon had his answer as Greypaw leapt forward to take a quick bite of the mouse himself.

Up and up the grey apprentice rose, until-

"Hey, why am I still at your shoulder!" He pouted.

"Never mind that- there's the way out!" Firepaw yowled in excitement and rushed forward, the grey cat close on his heels as they leapt over countless walls in a mad dash to the exit.

The two youngsters spilled out onto the green grass above and Firepaw had never loved the color more than in that moment. After catching their breath, they both clambered to their feet just as the sun began to touch the treeline.

Firepaw had just relaxed when he looked up at the approaching mentors only to bite back a yowl of shock. Normally he barely came chest-high to the large deputy but now they were at eye-level! Meaning he was now taller than Bluestar!

It felt very strange to have to tilt his head downward to look at his mentor.

Lionheart chuckled at the shocked looks he was getting. "Don't worry, you'll be back to normal by tomorrow." He purred in amusement as Greypaw gaped at him as he was about level with his chin.

Bluestar cleared her throat. "Both of you did well." She mewed. Firepaw had the strangest suspicion she might be trying to keep a straight face. Yellowfang certainly didn't. She looked completely unimpressed with Firepaw's new height and seemed moments away from simply being done with the lot of them.

His leader continued, "Greypaw, you showed excellent caution and restraint when it came to eating the mouse. Firepaw, you showed important leadership skills and the pair of you took that…mouse down quite nicely."

Lionheart's snickering drifted from beside her even with his face turned so they couldn't see his expression.

"All in all, both of you are well on your way to becoming warriors Thunderclan can be proud of." She concluded.

"Let's head back to camp." With that, the blue-grey cat turned and marched ahead. Firepaw came level with Yellowfang and looked down at her. "This is kinda cool actually." He grinned.

The medicine cat harrumphed. "If you can joke after that nonsense, you can still get me dinner boy." She cackled at his crest fallen expression. "And after that, you'll have to figure out where to sleep- you're certainly not going to fit in the apprentice's den."

Glancing forward, Firepaw would swear Bluestar's shoulders were shaking in barely repressed laughter.

The trip back to camp took awhile, mainly because Greypaw tried to take advantage of his new size in terms of taking Lionheart by surprise. Which culminated with a grinning deputy sitting on top of his apprentice and identical eye rolls from both Bluestar and Yellowfang.

Later that evening, after Firepaw had somehow managed to squeeze into the apprentice's den (despite Yellowfang's prediction and may have taken a bit of the entrance with him), Bluestar looked over at the former Shadowclan warrior.

"So, any questions?" She asked lightly. Yellowfang impassively glanced over. "Just one."

Bluestar waited.

"Has anyone come back smaller than normal?"

At her leader's uncharacteristically embarrassed expression, she couldn't help but chortle. She also resolved to ask Lionheart later just how small Bluestar had been.

I hope you enjoyed this read, strange as it may be. If anyone wants to make a continuation of it, please feel free to do so as this will not be continued by myself. As I mentioned earlier, I was greatly inspired by TheSkyclancat's AU Dump and its various magical themes so I would definitely recommend looking at that if you have not already done so. Please feel free to leave reviews if you wish and happy reading!
