I will take the Ring, although I do not know the way.
I will go through darkness, into the light of day.
I will stand alone, and I will fight for what is true,
So that the sun will rise again to shine on all of you.
I will leave the home I know to go with shady strangers.
I will take my closest friends into the darkest dangers.
And I'll leave all but one of them and traverse marsh and mountain
To come at last to where the white tree grows beside the fountain.
I will help to crown the king who's come at last to Gondor,
Then I'll go back to hearth and home and plan no more to wander
Although I'd never planned at all to leave my dear old Shire,
I will walk with Men and Elves and up the Mount of Fire.
I will go, alone at last, into the Dark Lord's Tower
And with the orcs and spider there will roam for many an hour
I will be overcome at last by what I long have carried,
And only Gollum's teeth will make me move where I have tarried
And when the Ring is gone, I'll turn my weary feet towards home
For bearing it has changed me and my heart no longer roams
But even home is spoiled for me, so I will sail away
And bid farewell to Middle Earth from out of havens gray.
