I don't claim to own any part of The Lion King, Disney owns it. I just write wierd stories.

If Pumbaa Didn't Escape
Nala was chasing Pumbaa, and I don't believe for a second that he could have gotten away or stalled long enough to let Simba come to his rescue. I just don't. Here's how the story probably should have gone:
She tore at his hind parts with her huge claws. His screams of pain only lasted a moment, for when her jaws were around his throat, his life was over. She chewed a bit of skin off of his torso and tried to eat it. It was very tough, but better than the nothing she was used to eating. Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of a lion coming right at her. He toppled her over, his eyes brimming over with tears (Real lions can't cry, but since these lions can talk, I think it's safe to say that they can cry, too). "How could you, you killed him. He was my only friend! Oh, besides Timone."
Nala flipped the other lion onto his back and realized he looked very familiar. "Simba?" she asked, a quiver to her voice. "Nala?" he replied. They started to gaze into each other's eyes for a while, then they got to chatting.
Meanwhile Timone was speechless. He had watched the entire thing. Pumbaa was his best friend, and now he was lion chow. And Simba was chatting it up like nothing just happened. Timone walked to the lake where Simba and Nala were now playing and he threw himself in. He didn't swim well, being a meerkat, but swimming wasn't his intention. Simba and Nala carried on for the rest of the movie as if neither Timone nor Pumbaa even existed. Sadly, Pumbaa's meat went to waist because Nala forgot about it.
