At first glance, it was weird for them to be in a relationship, queerplatonically or romantically.

Nova was strong, she wasn't afraid to punch somebody's face in. She was smart, but she was more of a fighter than a rocket scientist. Her rage was full of fire, one that shouldn't be messed with unless someone wanted to get burned. Yet despite that, she had a soft side with a love for stuffed animals (albeit she wouldn't let the public know that part) and was full of kindness for her companions.

Gibson was intelligent, hardly ever accepting how wrong he could be until it smacked him in the face. He could fight, but he was more of a scientist and a medic than he was into fighting. His pride with his intelligence was full of arrogance. It attacked others on their own when he felt superior to others. Whether it was his intention or not, he would come off as cold, similarly to an icicle. Despite that, he cared about those around him and he did his best for them.

Even their weapons of choice were different. Gibson's drills were sharper and longer distanced while Nova's fists were blunt and worked better at a short distance. Their fur colors were on opposite sides of the color spectrum as well.

Yet, it was because of everything that they worked so well. Nova was what reminded him to be kinder. Gibson kept her interested with the things he knew, even if she didn't understand it like he did. She was what warmed him up, and he was part of what cooled her down. They had each other's backs, especially if the others couldn't. They got along better than people would think. If it was what they actually thought or not, neither of them cared.

They were like chemicals connecting perfectly in the most unexpected way possible. They were like the stars and the moon, different yet belonging in the same space. When they were with one another, their hearts felt like protostars; their gravity increased like they were about to collapse with their smiles being as bright as hypergiants.

Their eyes were different colors, but that didn't stop them from seeing just fine.
