"Black!" White yelled as her eyes open and she bolted upwards. She breathed heavily as she found her hands gripping the sheets of her bed tightly. Sweat making her pyjamas stick to her body, but she couldn't care less about that. She tried to calm herself down and looked around her surroundings; she was in her bedroom. At the foot of her bed, a small orange four legged pokemon with a bow on it's head was sleeping peacefully until it felt movement underneath it's sheets.
"Pig?" it said tiredly. White gave a small smile at the Tepig.
"Sorry for waking you up Gigi, you can do back to sleep," she said sweetly. The small Tepig got up on all fours and walked towards to her trainer and sat down on her legs on the sheet. White smiled as she pet her Tepig, it's what she needed to calm down. Her face changed as she put a hand to her forehead.
"Black..." she muttered softly. She looked at the calendar that was hung upon her wall. She grimaced at the sight.
"So it's been 3 years,"
Even after that long, everything still felt like a dream...no, a nightmare to her. The sight of Black being flung into Reshiram, then transforming with the Dragon of Truth into the Light Stone then suddenly disappearing like that. She remembered how much she cried afterwards, how much she, along with many others, searched throughout Unova for the Light Stone, for Black. But even after months of searching, it was nowhere to be found.
It was then Black was declared Missing In Action. There was no way would she consider the idea of him being permanently gone. She remembered how bad she felt after screaming in anger towards the people who had considered to halt to search for Black. The only person who felt worse that White was Black's mother. But yet after knowing her only son was missing, she was still the one who comforted White all those nights when she cried herself to sleep. And it wasn't just her, she remembered how Cheren and Bianca felt.
Cheren wouldn't stop blaming himself. He went on and one for months saying that he was a complete fool for falling victim to Team Plasma's ideals. That if he only had a straight head, the fight on the roof of the League wouldn't have happened and Black would still be here.
Bianca, like White, would not stop crying after Black went missing. After all, it was Black, along with Cheren, who were one of the motivating factors to leave her over protective father and go on a journey. She wanted to start this journey with the 3 of them, but it ended with just 2. But despite losing him, the blonde still did her best to cheer White up. Despite being best friends, she knew that White connected with him more than she and Cheren ever did, especially knowing the fact that they travelled together.
She sighed as she move the sheets and got off the bed. She couldn't stay in bed all day being depressed. After all, working as a president of a talent company is no easy task. Plus,
This isn't what Black would've wanted.
She smiled as she could already imagine at how Black would react seeing her in that state. Hearing his loud voice telling her to get herself together and to stop sulking, oh how badly she wanted to hear it right now.
She shook her head as she slapped both of her cheeks. "C'mon now White, you can do this,"
And with that, grabbing some fresh clothes, she headed towards the shower and prepared herself for the rest of the day.
White watched carefully from the spectators seat as the performance crew worked on the rehearsals. The pokemon actors and dancers were practicing their hardest as the performance for the musical show was tonight. People and pokemon were scurrying around preparing for the show.
On the stage, stood an Eevee, Poochyena, Patrat and a Lilipup. Her eyes not taking off the stage as they practiced. She then raised her hand up, signalling the music to stop, holding a megaphone up to her mouth.
"Their dancing and postioning it just fine but can someone move the bush prop to the right? Patrat's tail seems to be getting to near to it and I'm afraid it might get in the way of their dancing," she called out.
One of the prop workers gave an Okay sign with his hand and did what he was told. After moving the bush, he looked back towards White who nodded her head.
"One more rehearsal then we'll take a 10 minute break alright? I want to see the routine for the part where Eevee starts on his journey," White asked as the 4 pokemon nodded. White snapped her fingers and the music started playing, watching the 4 pokemon dance.
During the start of their 10 minute break, other people came up to White.
"Boss, how bright do you want the lights to be during the opening act?"
"Should we add in more smoke during this scene?"
"There seems to be some damage to a few of the props, should fix them or scrap them since it's just minimal"
And on and on a bunch more questions were thrown at her and yet she answered each and everyone of them with energy and a smile on her face. This was what to be expected, since it is the president's job to lead everyone and to ensure everything goes well with the performance. Finally, after answering the last question, she found herself sitting back down on the chair. Despite being in an large air conditioned room, she was still breaking down a sweat.
"Quite busy aren't you?" she heard from behind. She turned around to see a woman with long black hair, wearing a yellow themed outfit wearing white headphones.
"Elesa!" White stood up as they both shook hands. "What are you doing here? Aren't there any challengers?"
The Nimbasa gym leader chuckled. "We Gym Leaders do have our breaks too you know, besides, I've been feeling pretty bored nowadays," she admitted as she sat down with White.
"Bored? What, those challengers not hard enough for you?" she raised her eyebrow with a teasing smile.
Elesa leaned back on her chair. "Honestly yeah, it's been so long since I had a real challenge, a battle that keeps me on the edge of my seat,"
"Really? When did you have your real challenge," White flexed her index and middle finger on both hands as she said that last part.
"Well I guess ever since Black-" she stopped talking immediately as she mentally slapped herself. She looked towards White, her expression didn't change much, just more of a softer looking one.
"Yeah, I'm sure that idiot gave every gym leader a run for their money," she chuckled as Elesa gave a sad smile.
It wasn't just White and her friends who suffered. The gym leaders, Elite 4 and Alder felt terrible about the whole situation. They, the strongest trainers in Unova, still couldn't save one trainer who had assisted them in taking down Team Plasma, or rather, the trainer who they assisted.
Alder probably felt the worst, like Cheren, he went on muttering how if only he had been stronger and that he could've defeated N, but instead it went the other way around. He felt so guilty about the whole situation he was ready to give up his title as Unova Champion until he was stopped by none other than Black's mother. The woman who lost her son was still the person who had supported the pillars of Unova. They searched high and low and almost every inch of Unova for the location of the Light Stone, but as mentioned before, it couldn't be found.
White knows Elesa, along with other Gym Leaders, still feel a hint of guilt inside of them for not being able to find Black despite how much he helped them. But everyone knew they couldn't search forever. The damage was done to Unova and it was their job to restore it.
Her thoughts went interrupted as Elesa placed a hand on her shoulder. "And he's still out there White, I know he is,"
"I know," White gave her best smile towards the gym leader, "He's too stubborn to give up, that's what makes him Black," she voiced.
Elesa then stood up, "Well, I guess I should head back, it's gonna be a busy day, for both you and me," she joked.
"Definitely, you're still coming tonight right?"
Elesa pulled out a small piece of blue ticket. "Of course I am! I can't let this VIP ticket go to waste now am I? Looking forward to the musical tonight, see ya," she said as her Emolga waved goodbye to White as she walked away. White cheerfully waved back for a moment before giving a sad smile. Taking a deep breath, she brought the megaphone up to her mouth.
"Alright guys break's over, let's go over everything and make this show a great one!"
Being a President of a talent company is no doubt tiring and made White a workaholic, but it also has it's own rewards, aka, a musical performance and a crowd's cheers and smiles. At least that's what White hoped she would see for the performance that's staring soon. But she still has her full trust and belief in her actors and actresses.
And now there she was, standing in front of a crowd that filled Musical Theatre. All she could see was the heads of the spectators and thousands of eyes on her. She held the microphone up.
"Welcome, everyone, to the musical theatre performance of our show "Eevee's Journey". We hope that you turn off your devices to not disrupt others during the performance and for you to sit back, relax and enjoy this show to the very best. Thank you," her voice boomed throughout the hall as she bowed, getting the crowd's clapping in return. She scurried off the stage and went to the front row seat and watched the music played and the curtains unfold.
"Our story today, starts off with our young hero, Eevee, an adventurous little one who loves to battle for fun. He makes his way through the Jungle Area, itching for a battle," the narrator started as Eevee jumped from the curtains. White watched as the Eevee danced in the makeshift jungle setting they had prepared using tree props. Every jump, duck, slide, and any other movements, White made sure that it would synch well with the music. Her heart jumped with joy as the crowd also cheered at the Eevee.
"Vee! Eeevee!" the Eevee cried out.
Watching Eevee roaring out like that, it made her remember when she first met Black. She closed her eyes as the memory played in her heads.
"HEYYY! I'M GONNA BECOME THE CHAMPION OF THE POKEMON LEAGUE!" Black yelled out into the sky as White watched with a dumbfounded look on her face, staring at the trainer that came out of nowhere and suddenly yelling like that. Who is he?
The narrartor went on and so did the play. As Eevee made his way through the 'jungle', the next pokemon started to appear one by one, a Poochyena, Patrat, and a Lilipup. New music kept playing as each pokemon made their own appearance, slowly adding in their own introduction.
"After meeting his new partners, Eevee and his friends set off on their own journey, the journey to become the strongest group of pokemon to ever rule the jungle... " the narrator continued on as the group traversed through different areas. The lights going dark every so often for the logistics to replace the props on stage. Each new area there would be at least a challenge for the pokemon, but it wasn't heavily emphasized, after all, her favourite part was about to come soon.
"One day, on their journey, the group encountered a new friend..." She started as the lights turned on to see the group being "surprised" by a rock that stood at the side of the stage.
"Vee!" a cry was heard as another Eevee with a bow on her head jumped up from behind the rock and landed on top of it. A piano medley played as the female Eevee performed her own dance on the stage, occasionally jumping on the rock, then down to the stage. Eevee watched in awe as the female Eevee performed her choreographed dance, and soon, the she landed right in front of Eevee.
Another memory played in her head.
"I'm White from the BW Agency!" she extended her business card to the boy who had just screamed out out. "What's your name?"
"Me?" he adjusted his cap, "I'm Black," he greeted.
"And so our young hero Eevee, met a new friend, her name, is Vivi..."
The Eevee and the female Eevee danced around on stage along with the music. The other pokemon dancers merely performing in the background as White knew this was the scene that was supposed to be emphasized on just them two.
"And so the heroes of 4 became a heroes of 5, all of them continued their travels all around the world together, getting stronger, going through thick and thin, and something also seems to be growing, bonding our two Eevees,"
Each time the stage went dark, props were switched and new areas were revealed, there were even some scenes where the dancing was only between Eevee and Vivi. There were even a few "aws" coming from the crowd. Watching the dance between Eevee and Vivi, she remembered another moment.
"I'm so happy!" she cheered as she grabbed onto Black's hands. He scratched the under of his nose.
"Well you don't have to be," he chuckled. "I can't believe that you're happy because I won,"
"Listen to this, a city called Nimbasa City is going to use MY IDEA for an attraction!" she cheered as she was now waving the poor pokedex holder up and down!
The music turned from upbeat to suddenly a tone that would bring someone down. Loud, minor esk music boomed throughout the hall.
"But one day, something terrible happened,"
On the stage, the sound of thunder boomed the "bushes" started shaking. Something jumped out of the bushes, a trio of Houndours. All three of them roared at the group as battle esk music started to play. The crowd gasped as all three of them started to 'battle' on the stage. Using toned down moves, they weren't able to much damage to each other and to the stage but it still looked as real as a regular battle.
Near the end of the battle, a net was suddenly dropped down onto Vivi, who was trying to help in the battle . The net entangled her as two of the Houndour grabbed the ends of the net while the other one laughed.
"EEVEE!" the Eevee cried out, this time, an audible gasp was heard from the crowd. Eevee watched helplessly as Vivi was dragged off in the net by the Houndour trio.
"Because of this, Eevee thought all hope was lost, he had failed to protect his friend..."
The stage switched to a raining day as Eevee laid on the floor, a disheartened look on it's face as the other pokemon stood around it, watching him with worried looks on their faces.
"Vee..." It muttered out. Seeing Eevee on the floor, like that, it reminded White of Black when they thought Musha had left him.
"What are you doing?" White asked. The look on Black's face, it was the first time she seen that look, one that replaced the usual over energetic look that was usually plastered on his face.
"What else?" he said blankly as he put on his cap. "To go home,"
Hearing that hit White like a truck. "What? Go home? But what about the League?"
"The League doesn't matter!" Black punched the wall. "Nothing mattered! I thought I had a real bond with Musha but all I was to it was just a delicious meal! Nothing matters anymore!"
She remembered it as the day when she first heard Black scream, but not out of enthusiastic energy, but of anger, feelings of defeat. She chuckcled as she remembered that in the end, Black still managed to get himself together and challenged Drayden last minute for the Legend Badge, and for a spot in the tournament.
White watched as the pokemon actors gave their own cheers to the defeated Eevee, telling him to not give up, to never give up. Even as the person who came up with this production, White found herself silently cheering for Eevee from the crowd. After a dance performance from the 3 pokemon, Eevee finally stood up straight, with a look filled with determination and the crowd started to clap and cheer loudly.
White sat on the edge of her seat. There were only a few more dance performances until the finale.
Nearing the end of the musical performances. A lot of spectators started to stand up and clap as Eevee and his friend managed to defeat the trio of Houndour. Some were even whistling loudly as White beamed proudly at her actors and actresses. At the end of the performance, was a final dance between Eevee and Vivi.
The two normal types danced and hopped around the stage as White stared in awe. A new feeling enveloped inside of her as she watched them dance. Her eyes closed as she listened closely to the music. In her head, instead of the two Eevees, she saw herself and Black smiling together, going on a journey together.
The best times of her life.
And finally, the music ended and the performance finished with a bow from everyone. Everyone in the crowd stood up and clapped for the amazing show. White noticed one of the logistics behind the curtain making a hand motion for her to come up the stage to deliver the final speech.
The president nodded as she got off her seat. As she walked towards the stage, she could see a few people even clapping for her. She got onto the stage as she was handed a mic.
"Well, that was an amazing performance delivered by our very talented actors and actresses..."
White slumped down onto her couch with Gigi on her lap.
"What a day," she sighed as she rested her body against the soft cushion. She had just gotten home after a long day of work at the Musical Theatre. There performance was a big success, seeing the smiles on everyone there, it was the one thing that White had to admit. It was stressful but it definitely rewarding at the same time.
Her apartment wasn't too big, but not to small either, it was the perfect space for just one person and it had everything she needed. A bedroom, a guest bedroom, a small kitchen and a living room. She chose one at Nimbasa City as it was the one city she mostly works at nowadays, especially since the city was home to the Musical Theatre.
But her favourite part of the apartment was her large window. Her floor was high enough to overlook Nimbasa City. Getting up with Gigi in her arms, she walked towards the glass and looked at the view. Nimbasa city was indeed beautiful at night, lights from various buildings shone like stars on the black ground. She closed her eyes as more memories resurfaced.
"Say Black, where do you want to stay once you're done with the Pokemon League?" White asked out of curiosity. The latter stretched his arms from laying on the grass.
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"Like where would you want to stay once your journey is finish, or are you going to back to Nuvema Town?"
Black got up. "Not really, I love my town and all but growing up there my whole life, I want to live somewhere different for once, and I just have the place in mind to stay once I become the newest champion of Unova,"
"Really? Where?"
"Nimbasa City," he answered. "This city is bustling with life I love it," he admitted, "But even so I still want to travel all over the world, and finding new strong trainers to battle, I even heard of a super strong trainer that lives on Mount Silver in Johto, I have to go there one day,"
"Is that all? Just because this city has so much people? What about Castelia City?" she asked.
"Well, the Musical theatre is in Nimbasa isn't it?" Black said.
"The.. theatre?"
"Of course! I still want to help out with the BW Agency of course!" Black gave a goofy grin as White stared at him in shock for awhile, before giving out her own smile. Both ended up bursting with laughter.
"Black..."
His name would never be able to leave her head.
"Prez!" Black called out as he ran as fast as he could across the train station, trying his best to catch up with White. "Even If we get separated, I'm still your employee!" he puffed, "I'm still one right?"
He was struggling to catch up with her and soon, he reached the railing at the end of the station.
"I'll make my dreams come true! I'll participate in the pokemon league!" he took a deep breath "And I'll wear the company logo! Just like we promised!"
He was getting smaller and smaller as the train sped further away. But she could still hear his voice.
"So...prez! Don't give up!...Dream!... Best In Unova!" was what she could hear from Black's screaming. She let out a small smile hearing him like that.
That day was fine for her as she knew she would see her employee afterwards. She knew she would see his goofy smile, his stupid antics and everything else about him.
But his words rang in her head the more she thought about that fateful day 3 years ago, the day where the Light Stone went missing. She placed a hand on the glass, her other hand still holding Gigi.
She closed her eyes, and Black's smile was the first thing she saw.
Gigi was staring out at the city in her trainer's arms when she felt something on her head.
"Tep?" She felt it again. Was that...tears?. The Tepig looked up and saw tears continuously falling out from her trainer's eyes.
"Black..."
No matter how she kept it locked inside of her heard.
No matter how much she smiled and push through.
She couldn't hold it in.
If her time travelling with Black was indeed the best time of her life, then these 3 years without him were the worst.
White cried.
"Black..." she muttered softly. "...I miss you,"
