Beth
"You saved a group?" I heard the man's deep voice snap as my eyes fluttered open, my sister Amy holding my hand, and my father Hershel staring at the door the two men were bickering behind.
"Where are we?" I whispered watching Amy jump at the sound of my voice. She only squeezed my hand tears falling from her face as she shrugged her shoulders refusing to meet my eyes.
"We thought we were dead," Amy whispered looking at the ground. "A man with a crossbow saved us. He carried you all the way here. Me and daddy weren't going to leave you alone, so we followed." Amy explained nervously glancing around the room. I only squeezed her hand knowing this had to be terrifying for her after what happened with the Governor.
"Good to see you're finally waking up," a woman with red hair spoke as she came up to me raising the head of the bed so I was sitting upright instead of lying straight down. "I'll let Negan know you're awake. They'll be in shortly, now eat." The woman spoke matter of factly as she set a plate of food in front of me.
"Thank you," I whispered carefully glancing over the sandwich before I took a bite. I haven't had a sandwich with pickles in years. I couldn't tell you how long we were outside the walls. How long we scavenged. "Oh. My. God." I practically moaned slowly chewing the sandwich savoring the flavors.
"They've got good food." Amy laughed wiping the tears away from her face as the door opened, and two men stepped inside. The first one that walked through the door had shoulder length black hair, bright green eyes, and muscles that I tried not to notice as he held his crossbow in his hands showing no emotion. The second man had short brown hair accompanied by a mustach lined with a few gray hairs, a smile painted on his face.
"Hello," My father Hershel was the first one to speak clutching his bible in his hand as the men stared at him. "We didn't get a chance to thank you." Hershel nodded to the man with the crossbow. He only nodded his head, but didn't speak.
"Have we done something to offend you?" The man with the beard almost hissed leaning down to make eye contact with my tearful eyed sister Amy. Amy whimpered immediately getting to her feet and taking a step away from the man.
"She's been saved before." I whispered making the man turn his gaze to me. "You don't get anything for free in this world." I whispered remembering the scars she helped heal after they saved her. The man only shook his head raising an eyebrow at me.
"You look like you've been out there a long while." The man mused as he stood to his feet looking over the three of us. "My stupid brother Daryl," he nodded his head to the man with the crossbow, "saved you. I'm Negan," He informed us placing his hands on his hips.
"That's my sister Amy," I pointed to my sister who was cowering in the corner. "My father, Hershel," I pointed to the old man holding the Bible in the corner of the room. "I'm Beth." Negan shook his head placing his hands on his hips.
"Daryl will show you around the community. We'll find a job for you within a few days. You'll have shelter, and food. I have more pressing matters to take care of." Negan explained glancing back over to Amy. "Pull yourself together. We've got rules here, one of which prevents the kind of thing that probably happened to you." Amy only glanced in his direction but wiped her eyes. "I'm very effective in getting my point across." There was something about the way he said the last sentence that sent chills down my spine.
"What put y'all out there?" Daryl questioned once Negan left the room motioning for me to finish my sandwich. "Your skin and bones, girl." I only shrugged my shoulders taking another bite of the sandwich.
"My farm got overrun. We had no choice," daddy explained his voice low. Daryl only shook his head glancing towards Amy but saying nothing.
"You have a change of clothes in the bathroom. Feel free to shower, we didn't bath you or anything. I'll have Denise unhook you from the IV and I'll show you my house, that's where you're staying. All of you," he explained easily making me raise an eyebrow. "I saved you. I have to make sure you aren't a threat." He explained walking out of of the room, the same woman that had left to get them returned.
"Your sister can show you to the bathroom." Denise explained simply as she removed the needle from my arm and left the room again. Amy only nodded her head towards the door at the other end of the room. I swung my legs over the bed, and my feet hit the cold wooden floor.
"They've got hot water." Amy spoke as I opened the bathroom door. A smile tugged st my lips. A bathroom, a hot shower, running water. They were such basic things, but after being out there they weren't so basic. I looked in the mirror seeing my bloodstained clothes, and my dirt and blood stained hair. I looked like I'd been through war, and in a way I had. I peeled my clothes from my body as I turned on the water to the shower turning the water as hot as it would go as I stepped in. The water scolded my back as the dirt and blood washed down the drain. I washed my hair with shampoo at least three times before it began to run clear and I finally conditioned it. I scrubbed my body down with soap until the only discolored spots on her body we're the bruises that covered it. I stayed in the shower until the water started running cold before I decided to get out grabbing the towel drying my body as I slipped into the tank top and jeans that were laid on the counter.
Daryl
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. I thought as I paced back and fourth in the hallway. I knew Negan's rules, and what did my dumbass do? I saved another group of people because I didn't want to see the poor girl get killed. People like them just weren't meant for this world. Negan was right, they had to be traveling with a group at some point. I was trying - unsuccessfully I might add - to calm down as I walked back into the room hearing the water finally shut off. At least the god awful smell will be gone.
"You said you were a farmer?" I questioned the old man clutching a Bible. I tried not to scoff too much at the old bastard who for some reason still believed in any kind of higher power. The world went to shit a long time ago, and if anyone was watching they're definitely getting in the laughs now.
"I am," Hershel corrected him in a calm voice.
"I'll show you the farm first, that's probably where you'll end up." I thought out load more to myself then to him. The door unlocked and hot steam started flowing out as Beth walked out. Her hair was no longer a deep brown color, and was more of a dirty blonde color. Her skin was no longer covered in dark patches of dirt, and instead a few bruises marked her body. I couldn't help the way my eyes moved down her body examining how she stepped in front of her sister distancing her from me.
"You look like you were the runner." I simply pointed to the bruises covering her arms. I bet they covered almost the entirety of her small body. Beth nodded her head biting her bottom lip.
"So, Negan said there are rules?" Beth asked in a small voice making me raise an eyebrow at her as I shook my head telling her yes. "What are they?" I only rolled my eyes slightly as I opened the door motioning for them to come out.
"Eager girl," I swung my cross bow it was on my back as I walked them through the hallway silently opening the door. I could tell from the way their eyes wondered from person to person it had been a while since any of them had seen another human. It looked like they were counting them. "Some people earn their keep by helping in the community rather than doing runs. At some point or another will all go on runs. The only exception to that rule is if you're unwell, any girl under the age of seventeen, any not under the age of thirteen, and any man or woman over the age of 50." I couldn't tell if they were listening to me as I opened the door Beth being the first one to slowly step outside.
"Oh my gosh," Beth whispered her blue eyes widening as tears came to her eyes. She looked around at the houses, and the street full of people, a smile coming over her face. "I told you, Amy." She whispered grabbing her sisters hand.
"I'm only showing you the farm and my house today while we get to know one another. I'll be looking after you. Negan comes over quite frequently so you'll get a chance to speak with him tonight," I spoke out load as we walked through the town.
"Wide Variety," Hershel mused looking over the bridge to the large land in front of them covered in crops. "You have livestock as well." Hershel nodded to the horses and cows roaming in a closed off field across from the farming land. "You've been here since the beginning?" Hershel asked as I sat on the bench letting them take on the view.
"No, we've been here a couple years. Survival of the fittest." Hershel only nodded his head leaning on the stone bridge breathing heavily. "You all still need rest. I'll show you the house," I took lead walking down the block slowly as we hit the houses walking to the largest house on the block. Technically it was Negan's, but he now lived alone. "There are four bedrooms, I use the master bedroom, other than that your free to take your pick. Hershel, there is a ground floor room." I explained easily opening the front door of my home.
Amy
"Daryl says we're all expected at the dinner table in ten minutes. Negan will be here." Beth stated simply sitting on the couch in the room I've picked. There was a good chance Beth would sleep in here since I still wasn't sure I wouldn't get snatched out of the bed and taken to a torture chamber.
"They're going to see my scars." I whispered touching my bare back. I hadn't worn a tank top since they rescued me from Woodbury. Beth only shook her head noticing that the rooms were empty besides furniture. There wasn't even a change of clothes other than the ones they were provided. I knew I was the only one that cared about being in a tank top in the heat. "We better get down there. I don't want to break any of his rules." I whispered grabbing Beth's arm as we walked down the stairs together walking to the kitchen.
"Is there any particular way the table should be set?" Beth questioned noticing the bare setting. Daryl only shook his head telling her no as he poured whatever he was cooking in five separate bowls. I helped Beth set the table as the front door swung open.
"Now I smell some good ass food!" Negan boomed walking into the house making me jump backwards slightly hitting a glass as it shattered on the floor. I froze looking up to a blood covered man holding a barbed wired baseball bat.
"I'm so-sorry." I breathed out as Negan came behind me examining the scars on my back. "I'll cl-cle-clean it" I couldn't help the face that I was trembling with fear as Beth leaned down silently picking up the glass.
"There's more in the cupboard." Negan said simply setting his bat next to the door as he licked off his blood stained boots. "I'm gonna wash up." He said simply disappearing into the downstairs bathroom.
"Venison stew," Daryl was the one to speak as him and Beth started setting down bowls. "Sit," Daryl pointed to me and the chair as Negan emerged from the bathroom clean as a whistle.
"So," Negan sat at the table grabbing his spook as he stirred his stew. "How did you get those scars, Amy?" Negan took a small bite raising his eyebrow. I knew that was going to be the first question he asked after the way he'd looked at her when he saw her back in the infirmary.
"I got rescued shortly after our farm for overrun." I knew not explaining was not an option. If there was one thing I'd gathered by watching Negan just the few times I'd seen him, when he asks a question, you answer. "I got selected from everyone." I remembered the trucks and cars driving away from the farm while I scrambled to get into one ultimately missing everyone. Negan only held up one finger making me stop.
"So you were with more people," Negan mused as I shook my head to confirm and took a small bite of my stew. "Continue," Negan waved his hand.
"Originally another girl found me, Michonne. She saved me. We survived out on our own just the two of us for what felt like forever. One day I just remember I was sick, and I closed my eyes for a second. When I woke up I was in an infirmary like yours." I was painfully aware everyone in the room was listening as I took a long sip of my water followed by a bite of stew.
"That explains the crying," Negan shrugged his shoulders and raised his eyebrows. "How did you get the scars?" He repeated his original question.
"I had to pay for medical treatment. When I said no to his proposal, he got upset." I took another sip of my water Negan only quietly stirring his stew. "His original proposal was that I stay in the community, in his home, and earn pay my bills by satisfying him nightly." Negan only shook his head taking a bite. "When I said no I got locked in his torture chamber. I'm sure you can peace together the rest, right?" I questioned quietly.
"I can figure it out." Negan said simply taking a sip of his lemonade. "How many people were you with?" I only looked to Beth. I didn't know how many people were even at the farm at the end.
"At least seven," Beth answered firmly. "We don't know if any of them are alive." she whispered as she took the last bite of her stew. "I can clear the table." Negan only shook his head as he finished his dinner.
"What did you do on your farm?" He asked Beth as she grabbed all the bowls from the table.
"Anything that needed to be done. Slaughtering the chicken, picking the crops, occasionally medical treatment." Negan simply shook his head waving his hand to dismiss her.
Negan
"You farm?" I found myself asking the old man I couldn't remember the name of. He only looked up taking a sip of his water. I could kill Daryl for bringing them into my community without clearing it.
"I've got quite a green thumb." The man finally answered making me shake my head. "Would you mind if I go rest. I haven't slept on a real bed in ages." I only waved my hand dismissing him. I found myself glancing up at the frightful strawberry blonde.
"What about you?" Amy only looked to the ground more tears coming to her eyes.
"I was a single mom," a small smile came to her face as I watched tears roll down her cheeks. "Cooking, Cleaning, Education," she listed off sniffling and wiping her eyes of tears before she looked back up at me. At least she was smart enough to know I didn't like crying girls. Beth walked back out clearing the glasses and silverware from the table while I watched Daryl excuse himself to the shower.
"You can get some rest as well." Amy only got to her feet as she shook her head turning to walk away. I couldn't help but look at the exposed scarring on her back, they looked like burn marks.
"Thank you," her voice was no louder than a whisper, as she walked up the stairs closing the a bedroom door.
"Oh," I heard a girl squeak from down the hall followed by a sudden thud.
"What the fuck, girl!" Daryl yelled making me get to my feet grabbing Lucille from beside the front door as I ran down the hallway raising my bat to Beth's head.
"I'm sorry," Beth started visibly shaking as she looked directly at the bat tears coming in. I only shoved the bat closer to her face forcing her to back up against the wall as I flung the bathroom door open seeing Daryl wrapping himself in a towel. "I'm sorry," Beth whispered against tears falling from her eyes.
"Negan we're cool," Daryl simply stepped out of the bathroom and got infront of Lucille. "I forgot to lock the door," Daryl explained motioning to his dripping wet body. "She walked in at a less than opportune moment." I lowered Lucille keeping it at my side as I glanced Beth up and down.
"Go," I almost whispered as Beth ran from behind Daryl up the stairs. "None of them are going to approve of my ways." I noted rolling my eyes as I walked to the front door. "If they don't work out, you take care of them, Daryl." He only shook his head as I slipped down on the couch as Daryl finished getting dressed. I heard light footsteps coming down the stairs knowing it wasn't Daryl I turned around to see Amy standing at the end of the stairs. "What?" I pinched the bridge of my nose in frustration.
"I just want you to know, Beth's only eighteen," I let out a sigh of frustration. "Really she didn't mean any harm. She said you think she was trying to kill Daryl?" I only raised an eyebrow at Amy standing to my feet.
"Look, Amy," I practically hissed glaring down at her. "I've had a long day. You all need rest. please do not come out of your room again until morning. If you happen to come out before then don't speak to me, kapish?" I snapped watching Amy only shake her head as she retreated to the bedroom.
Eighteen? I thought slightly impressed with the fact that she was still alive. No wonder she shrieked probably the first dick she's ever seen.
"You know Beth is only eighteen?" I mused hearing Daryl step into the living room. Daryl only shook his head.as I gave a small smile. "You weren't whacking it. Were you?" Daryl only gave a laugh making me roll my eyes. "Poor girl," I said between laughs. "She must have been terrified seeing a cock for the first time, and a rock hard one nonetheless." Daryl only lightly hit the back of my head as ye both plopped on the couch.
"She may have seen one before," Daryl laughed as he closed his eyes. "I think they'll work out Negan," Daryl yawned. "I think they'll be good for us," he almost whispered as he slowly drifted to sleep. I wish I could sleep as well as he could. I only rolled my eyes patting his leg before I grabbed Lucille walking out of the house into the dark night.
Don't let your guard down. I reminded myself as I walked to my mansion sized housen setting Lucille next to the front door. It was almost hard for him to fault Daryl for saving them, but he knew the consequences if they were a threat.
"Negan,' the woman that stayed in my house almost sang her small body instantly infront of me. She only ran her fingers up and down my arm as I set Lucille besides the front door. "Did you have a good day?" She questioned lightly pushing me down on the couch as she straddled my lap.
"It will get better once I'm not so stressed," I whispered in her ear as she started grinding on my lap causing my member to twitch.
