With or Without You

A Harry Potter Fanfiction: Book Three

1.

Staying with Professor Snape was cool. Partly because Aurelia didn't have to stay with her parents, but because now she was more advanced in her magic than ever!

Dorian Xiao, her little brother was not a Parselmouth. There were four Parselmouths this year, which was rare, and if you included Draco Malfoy. So, there was Harry, Aurelia, Draco (only because Aurelia gave him this ability) and Chase.

Chase Solomon was a pure-blooded Ravenclaw. Aurelia knew this.

Actually, Aurelia had known him since she was seven. She had liked him, before she met Draco. He liked her as well. But things got awkward between them, so they broke off their friendship, both thinking being friends was too hard. Being a pure-blood, Aurelia knew she had to be married off. Her parents either wanted her to marry Draco, or Chase. She had seen the Mirror of Erised and who she loved, but the problem was that... the two boys looked almost the same!

2.

At breakfast, Aurelia went to sit at the Slytherin table. Draco sat, and gestured to a seat beside him. Chase waved hello from the Ravenclaw table. His aqua eyes gleamed. A girl sat across from him. She was a Half-Blood. Pearl Sparks. Aurelia had met her at the end of last year. She was one of Aurelia's non-pure-blood friends.

"Hey! Lia," Chase began, when Draco frowned and cut him off.

"You're a Ravenclaw, freak. Turn around and stop talking to Lia." Aurelia glared at him.

Chase shrugged and turned. He started talking to Sophie. Aurelia felt a pang of some kind of feeling. She brushed it aside.

Chase said, "Lia, talk to me later?" She shook her head.

"No. I'm meeting up with Draco tonight."

He looked down and turned back again. Sophie was looking at the person next to Aurelia. Draco. Aurelia felt another pang of the same feeling.

What was happening to her?

Aurelia sighed and continued talking to the Slytherins. The notorious murderer of Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black had escaped prison in Azkaban! Aurelia worried. There was also an outbreak of dragon pox and someone in the school had got it!

Aurelia knew. It was her friend, Cadence. Her boyfriend, Theodore Nott was really worried about Cadence. She was in the med bay, on the brink of death.

Dragon pox was basically a mix between chicken pox, which was Muggle stuff, and Black Death. The disease showed more Black Death characteristics.

Aurelia stood up and left the Slytherin breakfast table and walked to her dorm, to get ready for her classes.

3.

As Aurelia laughed and chatted with Pansy and Blaise, on the way to Care of Magical Creatures, she couldn't help but notice Chase in the corner of her eye. He wasn't in any of her classes apart from this one and Potions. Aurelia was troubled by all the events going on and shrugged it off.

"Just a simple mistake, that's all." Aurelia spoke, disturbing the awkward silence between her two friends.

"What," Pansy started.

"NO, NOTHING," Aurelia replied, her long black hair nearly coming out of its ponytail.

She grabbed out her book for Care of Magical Creatures. Taking off the binds that held it, Aurelia found that the book snapped at her. Quite shocking, her mind. But Aurelia ticked the back of its spine and the book calmed down

"Grrr! How DO we open this monstrous book?" Draco screeched.

"Tickle the back of its spine, "Chase replied. This earned him a glare.

Harry approached the Hippogriff, Buckbeak. They bowed to each other, and Buckbeak let Harry fly on his back! Aurelia was really impressed, so when Harry came back, she ran up to him and started praising Harry. Chase's face turned dark. So did Draco's. They stormed up to Buckbeak.

Both didn't bow. They insulted the annoyed Hippogriff, like FIVE TIMES! Buckbeak, angered, swiped. The unlucky event was a blur of talons and limbs.

The boys emerged. Chase's face was bleeding. Draco's arm was bleeding. Aurelia rushed to Chase. She wished Pearl was here. She was a master at healing spells.

Hagrid went over to Draco and picked him up. Aurelia heard his muffled cries. They went something like, YOU AND YOUR BLOODY CHICKEN! MY FATHER WILL HEAR ABOUT THIS!

Aurelia accompanied Chase to the med bay. She couldn't wait to see Cadence again; she should be better by now. Chase groaned. He couldn't see anything! The dumb Hippogriff had scratched over his eyes.

4.

Aurelia was shocked and sad. A white sheet was placed on the bed where Cadence's body lay. It was draped over her features and over her pretty, milky white face. Her arms and legs were stained with black marks. Dragon Pox, in this case was fatal.

Cadence Li was gone.

Madam Pomfrey, the matron was making arrangements for Cadence's parents to pick up her body. Draco was lying on another bed, still alive. Thankfully. Tears appeared in Chase's eyes. He plopped himself on a third bed next to Draco. Aurelia wept.

As Madam Pomfrey healed his eyes, Chase had slight scars on his face. Some would heal, but some would not.

"Great! I'll be like Professor Lupin!" Chase tried to see the good side of the sadness. Aurelia didn't. So, Chase did something not even he could expect.

He hugged her.

5.

"This class is RIDICULOUS," Draco drawled. It was almost a week later, and Draco Malfoy was back in classes. Chase always attended, except for the day he hurt his face. Professor Lupin explained the spell RIDDIKULUS to the class.

Next, he got them to say it to Boggarts. Chase was amazing. Neville handled it bravely. Parvati did great.

Next, Aurelia was in line.

Chase Axel Solomon stood before her, as a Boggart. His eyes danced with fury, flames dancing in his aqua pupils. The scars on his face that would always be there were blood red. It was as scary as Voldemort... No. It was scarier than Voldemort himself.

Aurelia repeatedly shouted, "RIDDIKULUS!" but her voice trembled, and the spell did not defeat the Boggart. Professor Lupin stood in front of her, the Boggart quickly becoming the moon. Aurelia, revising her memory, remembered Professor Snape's past.

"Moony."

6.

Just before this, Sirius Black had come into the school. The portrait of the Fat Lady had run away and did not come back. Well, not yet. Aurelia and Chase had special classes with Professor Snape, which made things awkward because of her Boggart.

"Aurelia. I would never do that. Please, meet me outside the Ravenclaw dorm tonight," Chase pleaded. Aurelia had to agree.

"I'm a Slytherclaw." Chase started.

"Oh. That means the Sorting Hat was mixed about you." Chase nodded.

"So, Dumbledore said that I could choose to take classes with Slytherins. I said yes."

"Why? Draco bullies you!"

"But there's someone I like very much in Slytherin."

...

Harry and Hermione solved the problem of Sirius Black without Aurelia. Apparently, it involved a Time-Turner.

"Why, Pearlie? Finally, something really cool, and the only year they left me out!"

"Yes, but they also left Ronald out. Plus, I'm not part of your group." Pearl smiled. "But I prank with Fred and George. They need my brains." Later, Hermione apologised to Aurelia.

"Sorry. McGonagall told me I could only show the Time-Turner to one person other than me. And that was Harry."

7.

"I'm a werewolf. It would be far too dangerous to have me in this school teaching children.."

"Oh," Aurelia said.

"So, how do you know I'm Moony?"

"And Padfoot and Prongs and Wormtail. And Snivellus."

"Oh. I know. Your special classes with Professor Snape." Lupin grinned.

"Yes, exactly!"

"Yes, I know. But Miss Xiao, I must leave now. Farewell, but I know I will see you soon."

Aurelia smiled.

She knew too.
