Shivers
I sit and cry
Until the tears no longer come
Then I look at my reflection in my dressing room mirror
And talk to my departed father
"Papa I miss you so
I wish you were here so I wouldn't be alone
I need you Papa
I need you to give my voice the heart it needs
So I can become the diva you always thought me to be
I need you here to teach and guide me"
I sit and listen for an answer that will never come
So I put my head down and shed tears of false hope
Until I hear another voice speak to me
A voice so masculine and beautiful
I know it will stay with me forever
And suddenly I am calm
"Don't worry my dear
I am here to teach you and be your friend," the voice said
"Are you an angel?" I ask
But the voice doesn't answer
"Are you the angel my father promised to send?" I ask again
Silence is his only answer
"You have come to teach me to sing. Am I correct?" I ask one last time
"Yes." the voice answers at long last
"Then you are an angel to me." I say softly
"We shall begin our lessons tomorrow," the voice said gently
"So you may rest tonight."
"Thank you. I will be looking forward to it. Goodbye Monsieur."
I say as I walk towards the door
"Goodnight Mademoiselle. Sleep well." he says as I walk out the door
And as I walk down the hallway a shiver runs down my spine.
As I think about his heavenly voice
I sit and cry
Until the tears no longer come
Then I look at my reflection in my dressing room mirror
And talk to my departed father
"Papa I miss you so
