It seems like yesterday
walking into the briefing room
for the first time.
"Capt. Samantha Carter reporting, sir."
He salutes me back.
Col. Jack O'Neill.
He observes the banter going on,
amusing as it seems.
GI Joe? When I was a kid,
I played with Maj. Matt Mason,
astronaut doll,
with that backpack that made him fly.
I can fly too,
looking back now,
the adventures I've taken.
I am going this time,
through that Stargate,
no one is going to stop me.
Got this far,
I'm not backing down.
Yes, I am as tough as any man,
and I'll arm wrestle you to prove it.
Hammond stops the banter.
Let's get back to business.
Recon mission.
We're all going,
even me.
Dismissed.
Our eyes lock.
I look at him.
The Colonel looks at me
with that smile
that I'll never forget.
Our lives will never be the same.
A/N: this is the first poem I've ever written that wasn't a homework assignment. And I wrote it during school, which explains a lot. Please review!
