Juliet Higgins naturally had light skin, but she had never looked as pale as she did when she was lying in the sterile hospital bed. She had an oxygen mask covering most of her face and she was hooked up to multiple machines, with the beeping being the main evidence that she was still alive and breathing. With all of the cuts and bruises on her skin, she looked like she went ten rounds with a professional fighter.

"She has two GSWs: one in the left side of her torso, one in her left thigh. Broken ribs. Multiple puncture wounds, contusions, and abrasions," the doctor started explaining as the men froze in the doorway. "She lost a lot of blood and one of her lungs collapsed from the trauma."

The men nodded and they silently sat in the chairs against the wall, next to Juliet's bed. Thomas quickly taking the one closest to Higgins, followed by Rick. TC was hesitant to sit down with the stiches in his leg, but the doctor placed a pillow on the last chair and helped ease TC onto it.

"If you guys have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask any of the doctors or nurses, myself included" the doctor said as she started to leave Juliet's room.

"Thanks Doc," TC said, the other two men remaining silent as they watched their friend breathe.

The three men sat in silence for a while, with only the machines creating the white noise in the background. Magnum reached his hand forward and gently wrapped it around Juliet's right hand, carefully avoiding the pulse oximeter and the IV.

"Thank you, guys." Thomas muttered quietly as he bowed his head and closed his eyes.

The sudden, quiet voice shocked Rick and TC and brought their attention to Thomas.

"For what?" Rick questioned.

Thomas opened his eyes and looked at Juliet's face. "For keeping her alive." He glanced back at his two friends. "I wish you two didn't get hurt, but I appreciate you guys being there and looking out for her. Especially since I wasn't there."

Both of the men gave him sad smiles in return.

"She's Ohana," TC said. "It's what we do."

Rick continued. "Jules is part of our crazy family now, whether she likes it or not," he said with a smirk.

Thomas grinned and looked back at the majordomo. "You're right about that."

Rick and TC shared a glance. They both agreed that Higgins was a friend and part of their Ohana, but they also knew that she and Thomas had a special relationship. If something happened to Juliet, Thomas would almost certainly be inconsolable and that was something they never wanted to witness.

"I saw that," Magnum stated with a smirk. Rick and TC didn't think he'd notice their glance, but they were wrong.

"Hey, we're just happy Higgy Baby is alive and everybody else is okay," TC said with his hands up in surrender.

"You know, minus some bumps and bruises," Rick muttered under his breath.

Magnum looked at Rick and TC and mentally noted every single injury. Rick noticed this, but before he could tell Magnum he was kidding and not to worry, Thomas beat him to the punch. "You're right. You guys should probably go home and get some rest. I'll stay here."

TC shook his head while Rick chuckled.

"You're not getting rid of us that easy. We're staying here with you and Higgy," TC stated. "Rick, you get some sleep. We'll take first watch."

Rick nodded gently. He stood up carefully and walked over to the daybed on the other side of the room. He eased himself down slowly, and when he was comfortable enough, he closed his eyes.

"Normal rotation?" Rick said, his voice indicating he was already fading fast.

Magnum knew that it would've been better for Rick and TC to go home to heal and rest, but he appreciated that they were keeping him and Higgins company. While he appreciated his friends' efforts in setting up an overwatch rotation, he knew he wasn't going to sleep until Higgins was better.

"More or less," Thomas responded.
