"She was awake and nobody thought to wake me up?" Rick complained.

"Calm down, Orville. You were sound asleep and she was only conscious for like five minutes," TC explained.

Juliet woke up to the quiet argument, but she didn't open her eyes. Through her eyelids, she could tell her room was filled with sunlight, and she wasn't sure if her eyes could handle the sudden lighting change. Instead, she allowed herself to slowly become accustomed to her surroundings.

She was still in a sitting position in her hospital bed, but somebody must have placed the extra pillow behind her head while she slept. The oxygen mask on her face was gone, and a nasal cannula had replaced it. She also noticed that Magnum's hand was no longer gripping hers.

Rick huffed. "You still could've woken me up. It'd be nice to know that she's okay."

"She is," Higgins said.

Juliet opened her eyes, and after her eyes adjusted to the light filling the room, she looked at Rick. She noticed the sling again, but in the light, she noticed the cuts and bruises on his skin as well as his slightly unfocused gaze.

"How are you, Rick?" Higgins asked.

Rick stared at her before he scoffed. "You're the one in the hospital bed, but you're asking me how I am?" One look at Juliet's face told him that she was going to wait for an honest answer from him. "I'm fine. I got a messed-up shoulder and ribs."

TC chuckled. "He's also got a concussion and he got stabbed with a knife." He looked at Rick who was glaring at him. The larger man put up his hands in surrender. "What? She asked you a question and you didn't answer it completely."

Juliet then looked at TC. "Thank you. What about you?"

"Oh, he got stabbed in the leg," Rick offered without a moment of hesitation. "Now we're even, Theodore."

TC glared at Rick for a moment before looking back at Juliet. "I'm okay, Higgy."

Juliet looked between the two men and shook her head in confusion. "Someone please tell me what happened," she said to nobody in particular.

The two men looked at each other for a moment before silently agreeing to explain the story to Higgins.

Rick took a deep breath before explaining in a serious tone. "After you got shot, I got a knife in the gut and was pinned down. That's when the woman told me they were there for you, but she didn't explain why. I offered to take your place, but she said no. And then I was knocked out."

TC picked up the story from there. "When I got to Robin's, I heard gunshots and called Katsumoto. After I hung up, I cleared the house. That's when I had a run-in with the guy that got my leg. The woman shot him, trying to shoot me, but then I tagged her. She was dead before she hit the floor," he added with a small hint of pride. "Then I found you two in the kitchen. Rick woke up, but you didn't. I gotta say Higgy, you didn't look good."

It took a few moments for all of the information to process in Juliet's mind, but once it did, she was astounded at what her friends told her and what they had gone through. "I don't know what to say except thank you. I'm not certain what would've happened if you two weren't there, but I know I wouldn't be here."

After a moment of silence, Juliet's MI6 trained mind started focusing on other details. "Wait, who was that woman and why did she get Magnum arrested? And what did she want with me?"

A voice came from the doorway. "The story is she had Magnum arrested to get him off the property, and they also drugged the dogs when they arrived to make it easier to get to you. Or at least that was the idea," Katsumoto said as he walked towards the end of Juliet's bed. "How are you Ms. Higgins?"

"I'm fine, thank you Detective," she politely responded. "Why did she want to get to me in the first place?"

"After talking with the surviving intruder, it had something to do with your time in MI6. Apparently, you had infiltrated the Russian Secret Police?" The detective stated the last fact as a question, almost not believing it himself. "He said you killed the woman's father and had her brother imprisoned."

Juliet rolled her eyes and tilted her head back. "This is all because of that one op?" She almost growled in agitation. "That woman is insane."

"Wait," Rick chimed in. "You infiltrated the Russian Secret Police?"

Juliet looked at him questioningly. She wasn't sure if she felt proud or incredulous at the moment. Maybe it was a little bit of both. "Yes. Is that so hard to believe?"

TC smiled. "If it was someone else, yes. But because it's you, no, it's not hard to believe."

Higgins gave him a smile before looking back at the detective. "So this was a revenge mission? All of the measures taken and injuring my friends, was all because of something I did years ago?"

Katsumoto sighed. "I'm afraid so. They were going to take you captive, but if you weren't going to go quietly, they were told killing you would be acceptable also."

"We should tell Thomas," TC said. "He'll want to know."

"And Kumu," Rick added.

Higgins glanced around the room and realized that Thomas was nowhere in sight, nor had he appeared at all since she had woke up. "Where is Magnum?"

"He went for a walk," Rick answered. "He wasn't happy about TC spiking his coffee to make him sleep," he said with a grin.

TC added. "At least that was what he said before he left. I think he just needed some fresh air to clear his head."

"As an officer, I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that," Katsumoto said. "As a friend of Magnum, I'm glad he managed to get some sleep." The detective glanced at his watch before turning towards the door. "I got to go. If I get any more updates, I'll let you all know. I'm glad you're okay Higgins."

Juliet nodded. "Thank you, Detective."

Once Katsumoto left, Juliet addressed the two remaining men in the room. "How is he?"

There wasn't a question of who "he" was. Even though Thomas wasn't physically injured during the whole ordeal, Juliet knew how his mind works, maybe even better than he did. And it was because of this that she was worried about him.

"You know Thomas; he acts like nothing bothers him, but we know he's still struggling with the guilt," Rick said with a sigh. "He's always hated seeing any of us hurt, but this was something else."

TC added. "This was an attack on his Ohana at his home, and he wasn't there. That's what's bothering him so much."

Rick nodded. "Exactly. Not to mention that you technically died on the table. That really got to him. He was shaking like a leaf when he found out."

This was new information to Juliet, which was obvious by her wide eyes. "Excuse me?"

Rick froze and his face paled. "Uh, you were in rough shape, and the doctor- the doctor said you had to be brought back a couple times while in surgery."

Juliet was stunned. "What?"

TC took over for Rick, whose mind was obviously not working fast enough. "It's true. You are in rough shape, Higgy, whether you realize it or not. I know they have you on the good stuff," he said as he motioned to her IV drip. "The doc told us your injuries. You have two GSWs, broken ribs, stab wounds, and general injuries from the brawl you two were in. You also lost a lot of blood and one of your lungs collapsed."

Higgins unconsciously looked over herself as TC listed off her injuries. "I mean, I feel crummy, but I never would have thought…" she trailed off, not knowing how to continue.

"We know you're tough," TC said. "We know you can handle this, but don't be surprised if TM seems extra worried about you for a while."

"Yeah, he was mother-henning me as soon as he saw me," Rick said, his mind catching up to the conversation. "Just wait until you're back at the Nest."

Juliet sighed. "He doesn't need to worry about me, I'll be fine. I'm more worried about him."

"Guilt claws at him like a hungry bear," Rick said. "Tommy will be okay. He just needs to be reminded that he doesn't need to protect all of us. Once you're better, Jules, he'll start getting better too."
