Lex Luthor was getting married to Helen Bryce in two days and Chloe Sullivan had never felt more miserable in her entire life. First of all, Chloe found the Torch thrashed. Then, she unintentionally saw Lana Lang and Clark Kent kissing in Clark's 'Fortress Of Solitude', his barn. She could never feel more betrayed. How could Clark have kept something as big as that from her? And Lana, how could she? Most of all, she didn't want Lex to get married. This must have sounded weird and farfetched, but since Lex started dating that Bryce woman, her heart became a deep hollow. Clark didn't matter as much as he should anymore. She felt like she should be the one marrying Lex. Had she loved Lex all along but never realized it? Funny how life works. You never really apprehend something until it's too late. She loved Clark. Always. Forever. Then again, she always gets keyed up every time Lex was around.
Chloe rested her head on the cushioned sofa and tried to forget all her problems. She heard the door open and shut. Must be Lana, she thought. They hadn't talk to each other since that night Chloe saw Lana and Clark kissing. Even though Lana didn't say anything, Chloe knew it was a burden for her to carry that secret around. So much for being honest with each other. That hollow feeling in her heart got worse. At that moment, Chloe wanted to disappear. The room turned pitch black. She fell asleep.
When Chloe woke up the next morning, things hadn't change at all. Lana was trying on the dress she was going to wear to Lex's wedding. Chloe felt sick to the stomach. Her vision became blurry and she wiped her tears. Lana asked Chloe what was wrong and she blamed it on PMS. Lana knew Chloe was lying when she saw the hurt in Chloe's eyes. Eyes never lie. Chloe straight away went to her room and lounged on her bed. She couldn't sleep. She couldn't move. She felt numb. Day turned to night. Night turned to morning. It was the day Lex was getting married. Like a robot, she got out of bed and took a short, cold shower. Her movement was mechanical. She put on her black button up shirt and black skirt. She turned to the alarm clock resting on the bedside table. 11 a.m. She could still catch Lex before he gets on the jet to his honeymoon with Bryce.
Swiftly, she took her car keys and drove to the church. When she arrived, she caught sight of Lex and Bryce running towards the limo. Too late. No, wait. Lex stopped in his track when he saw Chloe looking at him from afar. Their eyes locked for a moment. Both eyes portraying similar emotions. Sadness and lost.
Chloe turned around. She didn't want Lex to go. But she let him go anyway.
In Lex's library at the Luthor Manor, a journal was open. A picture was swept by the wind that came from the open window and fell on the floor. In the picture, Chloe was smiling happily, as carefree as ever.
