I'm back with a new story everyone!
I have been meaning to do a Kingdom Hearts story and it started with a crossover with Pokémon, but it never got off the ground because I lost interest and felt that I may not be able to do it. And that kind of crossover has already been done several times.
But we hardly get any My Hero Academia and Kingdom Hearts crossovers, at least not ones with Izuku wielding the Keyblade. So I am attempting a KH story again and I am gonna try not to abandon it. I also got inspired to write this from reading Heroes of Light by Silverbits, but I am going to make this different. So best of luck for me there.
Another reason why I am starting this now is due to the revelation that Sora IS IN SMASH BROS! Finally! Kingdom Hearts fans, rejoice! So I wanna try to get this first chapter off the ground as soon as possible, luckily it won't be long.
Hope you all enjoy.
Prologue - The Mysterious Stranger
At a playground a little, 5 year old boy with green and black unkempt hair is standing in front of another young boy that is kneeling on the ground, trembling, and crying. It was clear that the green haired boy was trying to protect the other boy despite that he is also trembling with tears threatening to come out of his eyes. "W-why are you doing this, Kacchan? Can't you see that you're making him cry!"
In front of him were three other boys, one with ash-blonde hair that's standing in the middle clearly the leader of the trio, a chubby one to blonde's right, and the last one wearing a purple cap backwards, all three of them looking perplexed. The ash-blonde smirked with a scoff. "Heh, like I give a damn. Think you can pretend to be a hero?" The blonde mocked as the two other boys did something extraordinary, the chubby one growing wings and flew up and the cap boy stretching his fingers to abnormal lengths. "As if you can be one without a Quirk, Deku." The blonde finished by punching his fist into his palm, generating a small explosion.
Despite the show of the boys' abnormal 'Quirks', the green haired boy named Izuku Midoriya stood his ground while still trembling. "Heroes don't use their powers to hurt the innocent! If you continue to hurt others with your Quirk, I will stop you myself! Because right now, YOU ARE ACTING LIKE A VILLAIN!"
The ash-blonde, Katsuki Bakugo, tensed up and began to shake in violent anger at that statement with his two lackeys looking nervous behind him. "What... did you just say?"
Realizing what he just said and seeing the bully is going to explode, figuratively, Izuku lost his confidence and began to panic. "I-I-I'm... I'm sorry, Kacchan. I didn't mean to-" Izuku didn't get a chance to finish that sentence as he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his left eye, letting out a little grunt and clutch said eye.
When Izuku opened his left eye and can see through between his fingers what he saw perplexed him. He can make out an ominous, dark aura surrounding the arrogant, angry bully which is shaking Izuku to his core. He was both scared of the powerful darkness that the bully is conjuring up and confused on how he was able to see it. 'What... is this? What is this... dark aura I'm seeing? And how can I be seeing it? Is this-'
"Nobody calls me a villain. YOU'RE FUCKING DEAD, DEKU!" Katsuki's scream broke Izuku out of his thoughts and at the same time stopped seeing the darkness on the bully in front of him as the pain in his eye ceased.
"Change of plans. Deku is now the villain in our game. And we're still the heroes." Katsuki informs his two lackeys as the kneeling boy started to flee after that, leaving young Izuku all alone now. "Now, let's get that villain!" With that the three bullies charged forward reeling their fists at Izuku as he stood there frozen.
After minutes of mercilessly beating Izuku the bullies finally relented leaving the green-haired boy badly bruised all over his body with a bloody nose which is a brutal scene. "Never call me a villain again, you shitty nerd. Remember this, I am gonna be the number one hero, the strongest of them all one day. And you're just a fucking worthless pebble to be crushed under my foot." Katsuki warned as his lackeys went their way to the entrance.
"A Quirkless loser like you can never hope to be a hero, let alone stand in the same ring as me. Heroes are only made for beating villains with their strength and you have none. So, do yourself a favor and stay lying on the ground like the dirt you are." Katsuki finished as he walks out the entrance with his two grunts in tow, heading for their home.
All the while Izuku was left all alone as he's starting to cry in despair. Becoming the number one hero? How can anyone do that with that horrible, outright villainous attitude of his? Heroes are only ones who win against villains? That's not true. Not the entire thing at least. The main job of a hero is to do public service and defend the innocent, not hurt them. Why can't Kacchan see that?
All this saddens Izuku even more since he still considered Katsuki his friend, but he can't get what he saw out of his mind. What was that dark aura? Did it represent Katsuki's true character or something? And how was it possible that he can see it in the first place? Did he finally develop his Quirk? All this stayed in Izuku's thoughts as the tears kept flowing down.
Thankfully he would get out of his despair soon as a set of footsteps was coming his way. "Boy, you sure look like you had a rough day." That's putting it mildly.
Izuku averted his eyes to the figure standing next to his lying body. He can't tell what the man looked like because all he's wearing is an all black leather ankle-length coat with a large hood that conceals his face, accompanied by two silver drawstrings, each with a large silver bead hanging from the end. Everything else was zipped up by the large silver zipper with pulls at the top and bottom to seal the coat from both ends.
"W-w-who...?" Izuku tries to ask the man's identity, but is feeling a bit hoarse from the crying.
"Who I am is not important right now." The mysterious stranger replies while kneeling next to the downed child. "I saw everything with you and the blonde kid. I gotta say, he's got quite the mouth on him." The man added with a small chuckle.
"You saw? Then why...?" Izuku says while looking surprised.
"Why didn't I step in and stop them from beating you up? I thought it wasn't my place to interfere. And it probably would've looked bad since I would have to use physical force to stop that kid due to how angry he looked."
Izuku couldn't argue against that. Katsuki is like a raging bull when he loses his temper, so stopping him would've been really hard. And he gets that the stranger can't physically restrain the bully. But the man could've just stepped in, block Katsuki's fist, and tell him and his henchmen to go home.
"I figure there must be a story behind this. But before we can talk let me fix you up real quick, kid." The cloaked man snapped his fingers causing green glowing flowers to appear and envelope the young boy in the same green glow.
After the glow ended Izuku could feel all of the burns and scrapes, as well as the pain fade away returning him to full strength. With his injuries healed he sat up and checked himself over in awe. "How did you do it? Is this your Quirk?"
"A "quirk", huh. I guess you could say that, in some sense."
After finding a bench to sit on Izuku and the hooded man began to talk. The young boy explained about how him being diagnosed Quirkless by a doctor led to the rest of the kids ostracizing him to even outright bullying him including Katsuki.
"So, because you don't have any powers, that boy kept beating you up. And you try to insist that he's still your 'friend'." The coated man deduced after Izuku's done explaining.
"This time it was also because I just told Kacchan that he was acting like a villain. That made it worse." Izuku adds while looking down at the ground like he was ashamed at what he said.
"Kid, you spoke from your heart. You said what was needed to be said. Even though it can be hard for the other person to hear it, you told what you felt in your heart is the truth."
Izuku sputtered at the man's statement and tried to defend that bully. "I-I didn't mean that. Kacchan is very talented and he has a very strong Quirk. He has the skills and power to be a hero."
"A "hero" that bullies the weak. One that would stomp them as "stepping stones" to become the best." When Izuku hasn't said a word the cloaked man leaned forward to see that the young boy is trying to think of another thing to say. It would seem that he hit the nail on the head with that. "I was there watching, remember."
"W-w-well..."
The man sighed and placed a hand on the young boy's shoulder to get his attention. "Kid, I'm the last guy in the world to tell you this. I've done a lot of things that were not heroic at all. But let me tell you something."
A moment of silence to make sure that the boy is listening intently. "You were right. Anyone who aspires to be a hero does not treat others badly like that. That makes them unsuited for the role."
"I..." Izuku couldn't think of anything to say to try to defend the blonde bully, knowing that the man was absolutely right deep inside. "I guess."
"And a friend doesn't treat other friends like that. You need to get new ones who treat you with respect and care." The cloaked man added.
The young Izuku took a few moments to let that all sink in. How can anyone else be friends with him once they know that he has no Quirk? They would just steer clear from him and make fun of him like everyone else.
"Trust me. You will find some friends who will accept you for who you are. They'll care about you and you'll care about them right back." The man gives the young boy a reassuring squeeze on his shoulder. "It may not happen now or soon. But you will get friends."
Izuku fought back the tears that were threatening to drop from his eyes and silently says, "Thank you."
A few moments after letting the boy calm down, the coated man went to a different subject. "So, what else happened? Before you got beat up."
"The weirdest thing." Izuku thought back to the moment he saw a strong dark aura around Bakugo and placed a hand over his left eye. "I felt a sharp pain in my eye and saw a mysterious thing."
"You saw the darkness in that other kid's heart."
Izuku shot up and turned to the man in shock. "How did you know?"
The cloaked man shrugged his shoulders. "Had a hunch that was the case. I've had my share of facing darkness in all shapes and sizes." Seeing the confusion on the boy's face he elaborated further, "It stems from the question you asked me. If healing your injuries was my 'Quirk'."
"Yeah?"
"On a technicality it can be seen as one. But the real truth is more complicated than that." The mystery man then began the bombshell that will change Izuku's life forever. "First of all, healing is just one of the things I can do. There's more to it than that."
Holding out a hand the man began conjuring up different powers. "Fire." With a flick a small flame was conjured on the man's gloved hand. "Blizzard." The fire was then replaced with a thin layer of ice on the fingers. "Thunder." Next sparkles of electricity broke the ice.
As the cloaked man showcased the different elements Izuku was watching with complete fascination and was wondering how the man is doing that. It shouldn't be possible for anyone to have more than one Quirk. Is this like one of those hybrid Quirks or is it just being able to control different elements?
"You sure like to mumble, huh."
Izuku broke out of his thoughts at that statement, realizing that he spoke those thoughts out loud, and blushed in embarrassment. "Sorry. My mom calls it a bad habit."
"As insightful as you are, you're actually wrong on your assumptions. My powers are not a Quirk." The man's statement left the young boy confused as to what he is talking about. If it's not a Quirk then what could it be? "It's magic."
And that answers the question which made Izuku's eyes widen in shock. "Magic is real?!"
"Of course it is. Believe me, I know. I used to be a Keyblade wielder after all."
"Key... blade?" Izuku was now even more confused as this is something that's unheard of. Anyone else would say that this man is nuts and that this is a bunch of nonsense in a world where superpowers are the norm. This "Keyblade" thing really hits the nail on that.
"Don't believe me?" The mystery man reached his hand out and, with a flash of light, summoned a sword shaped like a giant key with a deep blue guard, the teeth shaped like a star, and a star keychain. "What do you think now?"
Seeing the man summon the Keyblade, and the weapon itself, left Izuku astounded. The blade looks so majestic and enchanting that it's like... magical for a lack of a better term. It would seem that this man might be telling the whole truth. "It's amazing. I hope this isn't a dream."
"Trust me kid, this is all real." The man assured while dismissing the Keyblade in a flash of light. "Do you want to know another way how it's different from a Quirk?"
"Yes!" Izuku excitedly nodded with sparkles in his eyes like a real little kid would do.
"Unlike Quirks you're not born with the ability to use magic. It takes real discipline and more hard work than anything here to master the basics. Not anyone can use it." The cloaked man explains which is starting to bring the boy's mood down a bit. "The same goes for the Keyblade. Not anyone can just wield one. It is pretty fickle on who it chooses. That person needs to have a strong heart in order to be chosen by the weapon."
"Wow. That sounds pretty hard." Izuku says while sounding unenthusiastic. It sounds like it would be harder to practice than it is to train a Quirk.
"Hey, don't be down kid. There's a reason why I'm telling you all this." The man placed a hand on the top of young Izuku's head to get the kid to look at him again. "You have the potential to be a Keyblade wielder."
Izuku was so surprised and shocked after hearing that statement that his eyes widened in complete disbelief. He was trying to fight back the tears that were once again threatening to come out. "B-B-But I have n-no powers." He stuttered with a shaky breath.
"That doesn't matter. It's like I told you, I don't have any superpowers in this world. Heck none of the other Keyblade wielders have these 'Quirks'. And power or no power you have the potential. It's only up to you whether or not you want to reach that point. And I believe that you being able to see that darkness in that other boy's heart is a sign of it awakening."
Izuku pondered that, since he now has the answer as to why he could see that dark aura. It's really a sign that his power is awakening. Not a Quirk, but magic.
"Here's a saying that I came up with for this scenario, if you want to hear." The cloaked man added with a dramatic moment of silence following after. "One who was born with no power actually have the most potential. You can use that power of yours to be the hero you dreamed of to be."
At that the dam burst and Izuku couldn't fight back the tears anymore, just letting them flow out as he starts crying. To think he finally got to hear someone tell him that he can be a hero. Those were the words he's been waiting for ever since he was diagnosed as Quirkless and everyone started shunning him. Even though it is a different power, it is still such an emotional and joyous feeling.
"So I take it that you will train hard to reach your potential."
Izuku wiped the tears in his eyes and looked up to the man with a strong, affirmative nod and says, "Yes! I will do the extremely hard training if it means I will be a hero!"
"I like your spirit kid." The coated man says with a small chuckle. "But you're not yet at the age to start using magic. Or to even summon your own Keyblade."
"Oh." At that the young boy felt dejected a little. That means having to endure being ostracized for another several years.
"But I do have a little gift for you to get you started on that path." The man assures while reaching into a pocket for something. "Hold your hand out."
Although confused by what the man is doing, Izuku still held his hand out anyway. A moment later a gloved hand set a small item onto the boy's little hand. It seems to be a keychain with the token in the shape of a heart that is colored silver and green. "What's this?"
"Consider it a lucky charm that you keep with you at all times. It'll help shape your Keyblade when and if you're ready."
"A lucky charm, huh." Izuku repeated while looking at the keychain in his hand. He suddenly just remembered something important and reached down his shirt to bring out a silver chain necklace in the shape of a small crown.
"Nice necklace."
"Yeah. I kept it hidden in my shirt so that Kacchan doesn't try to take it from me. I can't tell why, but for some reason this is very important to me. I consider this necklace another charm for me. But it hasn't actually worked out." Izuku replies while tightening his grip on the necklace and the keychain. "So I'll treasure this keychain just as much."
"That's what I like to hear. And once you get your Keyblade you will not only become a hero for this world, but all the other worlds too."
It was then that the young Izuku finally asked about the one word that the mystery man said before that he just noticed. "Worlds? As in different planets?"
The mystery man chuckles at that confused look on the boy's face as asked that. "Good guess kid, but no. The worlds out there are different from planets here. And before you ask, I'm not an alien. I'm fully human just like you."
This just makes the little Izuku even more confused. "What do you mean?"
"You may be smart, but I realized that you're just a little kid. So I'll try my best to explain it as simply as I can so you can understand." The man stated making the young boy pout which went ignored. "Think of the worlds as different realms of reality. I guess in this case it could be considered the same as that 'string theory' that was discussed sometimes."
At that Izuku popped up in interest. "You mean like different dimensions? Or different universes?"
"I think different dimensions is more fitting for this. This world and all the countless others are shared in one universe. But yet it's not the same as residents in this world are completely unaware that others exist. They were meant to be kept a secret."
"How come?"
"Because if the knowledge of other worlds were to be known it would cause chaos unlike you've ever seen. People would try to find a way to travel to those worlds. But the way of travel through worlds is not as simple as going to outer space here."
In a world with superpowers as the norm the technology are almost always made to support those superpowers and the individuals that has them. So much so that the possibility of planetary travel was closed out. So it's not like there was any way to go to outer space anyway. And Izuku knows all of that due to him being a kid, as well as being more interested in heroics than space or science fiction.
But despite that he had to ask for more details. "Then how do you travel to the other worlds?"
"Well, once you gain your Keyblade, you will have to leave this world to travel in the lanes between which are the "roads" in the vast area called the Ocean Between. That's where you will see the other worlds." The cloaked man explains with the kid looking lost with the new terms. "You'll understand it much better once you leave your home and see it for yourself."
That last part got Izuku starting to feel down. "I... have to leave home?"
"It's your destiny kid. It comes with the territory of being a Keyblade wielder. You go out to the worlds and fight the creatures of darkness that threaten to destroy them. If you're still serious about wanting to be a hero and going through the training you have to accept that you will have to leave one day."
"Will I ever come back?" Izuku asks with hope in his voice.
"Of course you will. Just because you're gonna be leaving to defend other worlds it doesn't mean that you will never go home again. But when darkness looms you still have to be there to fight it." The mystery man answers which should help relieve the young boy a bit. "Once you go down this road there's no going back. Do you still think you want this?"
Izuku took a few moments to think about this. This whole concept of different worlds and magic all sounds illogical in a world where there's always has to be a logical explanation for everything, especially since said world has superpowers as the usual answer. Even the boy himself wouldn't have believed it if the man hadn't showed his magic. Now he learned that he can also use magic and wield the Keyblade himself one day. Once he does he can be a hero and save more people in other worlds than just in home. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, even though it means that he won't get to visit back home very often.
With his mind all made up Izuku looked at the man with a determined expression. "Yes. I want to do this. I want to be the hero that I always dreamed about and I won't let an opportunity like this slip. And I will protect more people this way by traveling through the worlds."
Even though the boy can't see the man's face under the hood, he has a feeling that the latter is smiling at his answer. "Now that's the spirit. You're definitely gonna go far." The cloaked man replies while standing up from the bench. "There is one more gift I would like to give you."
"Another one?"
"This one is actually very special." The man says while kneeling down to the young boy's level. Reaching a gloved hand towards Izuku a bright light flashed out from the boy's chest blinding him.
The flash died down after a moment so Izuku can see what's in his lap. It's a small, just a little bit smaller than Izuku given his young age, cat-like anthropomorphic creature that looks like a stuffed toy. Its head is large and spherical with small ears, narrow blue eyes, and a white snout as well as stubby limbs, which are lacking distinct digits, and tails. The cat creature dresses in a gold and blue cape, while also bearing a small pink purse around its neck that has a mystery star-like shaped emblem.
The cat-like creature turned to look at Izuku and waved at him with one of its stubby arms. "Hi there."
"I-It's so... adorable!" Izuku squealed as his eyes sparkle looking at the cute little creature.
"This little guy is named Chirity. It will be your lifelong companion." The cloaked man informs seeing that the boy is already growing fond of the newly named Chirithy. "Chirithy here will help guide you through anything you need to know."
"Like if you wanna learn more about the Keyblade and what your duties are. And I will also help you train when that day comes." Chirithy added. "And I happened to look into your memories. Don't worry about what all those other kids say. I will make a hero out of you someday." Izuku smiles at those words while scratching behind Chirithy's ear to which the cat creature enjoyed as it leaned into his touch.
"Looks like you two are definitely going to get along." The man stated while rubbing his hands on both Izuku and Chirithy's heads. "This Chirithy here is the last of its kind."
"How come?" Izuku asks.
"I won't spoil all the details just yet. You're too young right now to know this anyhow. But I can say that there was a catastrophic event that made this Chirithy the only one left." The man replies while standing up. "So make sure to take good care of it and it will look after you."
Both Izuku and Chirithy returned to looking at each other as the boy smiles again. "We are going to be good friends." He says while embracing the stuffed animal-like creature in a hug to which the small cat returns. "So, who are you anyway?"
"I've been wondering about that for a long time." Chirithy added as they both turned to the man for an answer.
"Well, I could tell you that I am just a wondering tourist, or that I'm actually a brilliant artist, or even a scholar. I could tell you that I dream of world peace. When I'm actually planning it's destruction." The mystery man says vaguely while turning his back at the boy. "The truth is what you see with your eyes, not what you hear."
Izuku and Chirithy were disappointed with the answer even though they listened intently. "Did you rehearse that before you came here?" Izuku deadpans.
"It did sound like you said that before and liked it that much." Chirithy agrees looking just as deadpanned.
"I've said it once to somebody else. It just sounds so right." The mystery man replies shrugging his shoulders.
"So, what's your name?" Izuku asks which got the man to turn around in bewilderment.
"What did I just-" The cloaked man then sighed, caving in. "Alright, there's no harm in it. My name is-" The man says his name to which Izuku gaped at. "I'm a Lost Master."
"Lost... Master?"
"That's all you get from me. I think we've talked long enough." The Lost Master says kneeling down to Izuku's level again. "It's getting pretty late."
Izuku quickly looked up to see that the sun was setting almost all the way. They did indeed have been talking for a long time. "Oh no! My mom's going to worry if I come home late."
"Well let's not keep her waiting then." Chirithy suggested as Izuku picked it up and hopped off the bench.
"Remember kid, this is our little secret. Everything about magic, the Keyblade, and the worlds. So don't go telling anyone, not even to your mother, okay?" The Lost Master added, tapping at the young boy's nose.
"I won't!" Izuku promises with a nod. The young boy then ran out of the park with the Chirithy in his arms as the Lost Master watches him go.
"May your heart be your guiding key."
Yeah, this prologue took over a year to make after the whole Sora joining Smash Bros. thing. Came with a little bit of writer's block and was trying to figure out things about Izuku's adventure in the future. And to this day it still remains unsolved.
For the pairing I chose between Naminé or Xion, or pair Izuku with both of them for a threesome.
And finally, I was thinking about giving One for All to Izuku after all, since it would be interesting to see how he will use both the Quirk and his magic with the Keyblade in conjunction.
So I just decided to wing it and just go with the saga I already know so much about, the Kingdom Hearts 1 game story since I still don't know how long it will take to complete it.
In the meantime, what do you think about the pairing and One for All? Leave your opinions in the review or PM me to talk more about them.
