I'm back!
Enjoy!
Atsuko found out that Yusuke was back five days later and had gotten him back into school, though with the way things were turning out Yuri doubted he would finish. As Yuri walked around the city lost in thought her compact buzzed. Flipping it open, she was shocked to see a distraught Koenma.
"Three bandits broke into the vault!"
Yuri sighed.
"I'll be right there."
Snapping the compact closed Yuri ducked into an alley before opening a portal and walking into the chaotic office.
"What happened?"
Yuri demanded as she approached Koenma's desk who simply pointed at the small television showing the three demons breaking into the vault and stealing the three treasures.
"What do you know about these demons?"
Yuri sighed deeply, she had been trained to be a spirit detective at a young age, but after Koenma had realized her abilities were more on collecting information then fighting and capturing he had changed her position.
"The redhead is Kurama, no previous records, true facet is unknown, comes and goes as a shadow, he has multiple aliases'. The short one is Hiei, also no previous records, true facet is unknown, will fulfill his purpose at all costs though it is unclear what that is, I've had a few ruins with him and he can be cruel. The big guy is Goki. He's our ringer. 12 previous criminal records, a soul eater, ability to frighten and has killed tens of hunters sent after him. Koenma. Tell me this is not Yusuke's first case?"
At the toddler's silence she sighed and continued with her report.
"The two besides Gouki are dangerous enemies, we only really know their names. It's obvious that with Yusuke's abilities now, he'll be killed. He's been in training for two days."
Koenma sighed.
"I originally had intended to let him handle some trivial cases, and train him while he's at it to slowly increase his rei ability. Unfortunately, there is no time to waste on this matter anymore!"
Yuri felt her ears twitch in curiosity.
"What do you mean no time to waste? So how long is the investigation period?"
Koenma held up one finger.
"In the human world, one week!"
Yuri growled.
"Only one week?! Have you lost your mind? What is going on?!"
Koenma started to sweat.
"One week from now. My dad's coming back from his trip."
Yuri felt herself gulp.
"King Enma is coming back?"
Koenma elaborated.
"Those three treasures are my dad's most adored items of the Reikai's secret valve. If he comes back only to learn that they were stolen."
Yuri felt fear racing down her back.
"He. Will unleash his wrath upon us?"
Konema nodded.
"Not only that! The Gods' anger are reflected in the skies. Even the Human World will feel the effects of his fury! My dad's anger is reflected on the earth! There might even be an earthquake! Flaring up is my dad's profession! If there's an earthquake, it'll be unprecedented! Mount Fuji might even erupt! And I'll receive a punishment more severe than his anger."
Yuki's ears lowered.
"Oh no."
Konema looked at her again.
"Therefore, Yusuke only has a week! It's for the Human World, and he must retrieve the treasures even if he dies! Hurry, and tell this to him and Botan!"
Yuri quickly nodded and opened a portal near Botan and explained the situation.
"We have to tell Yusuke. He doesn't know about me but you have to tell him, Botan. If he tried to fight those three without any more training he'll die again."
Botan nodded in agreement as Yuri opened a new portal to land near Yusuke in the woods. Keeping low she realized she had landed near the thieves that were having a conversation. Hiei was the one speaking while he held the sword, Gouki held the orb, and Kurama was looking at the mirror.
"The sword that's able to turn any human into a demon, the Demonic Sword. What Gouki has is the Hungry Globe that can devour human souls. And Kurama's Dark Mirror, which would unleash its evil power when the moon is full. I shall create a thousand man-eating monsters with this sword."
Gouki smirked.
"And allow me to feed your man-eating monsters, by acquiring the victim's soul with this Globe first."
Kurama glanced up and slipped the mirror in his pocket.
"I apologize, but I'm withdrawing."
The other two demons looked at him in shock while Yuri looked on intrigued.
"What?!"
The pair said in unison.
"What do you mean? You want to leave us?"
Hiei accused.
"That's right."
Kurama stated calmly.
"Coward! You are acting like a typical human."
Hiei stated crassly.
"We don't need to give part of the loot to a person like you! Return the Dark Mirror!"
Gouki demanded.
"That won't do. I shall be needing this mirror."
Kurama stated never looking or sounding intimidated.
"I won't allow your reckless actions! With my own powers, I shall take the Mirror back!"
Yuri covered her mouth as Gouki tried to punch Kurama; he was interrupted by Yusuke stepping out of the trees.
You fool! Yuri thought.
"Yo! Hang on! Why don't you just pass me all the three treasures? Then you can continue your little argument afterwards, my three bandits."
"Who are you!?"
Hiei shouted.
"You know what we did in the spirit world?"
Gouki sounded confused.
"I didn't think I would find you so quickly either. I'll give you a little scare and tell you! I'm the Spirit World Detective Yusuke Urameshi, and now, put your hands up and surrender!"
The demons looked unimpressed.
"Spirit Detective?"
Gouki asked.
"The chosen "hunter" from the Reikai. But I can't feel his Reiki at all! And He looks like a weakling."
Hiei explained.
"Looks like he'll be dead with a punch!"
Gouki smirked.
"Idiots! I'm not afraid of you at all!"
Yusuke growled. Suddenly Hiei jumped.
"I won't be participating in this fight!"
And he disappeared from sight. Well that's a good thing for now. Yuri sighed with relief.
"Hey, wait a minute! Hang on there!"
Yuri looked and spotted Kurama walking away. Yuri paused for a moment before deciding to send Yuuske's location to Botan before tracking the red head. Gouki is weaker than the other two, if Kurama is going to give us a problem I'd rather he fight me than Yusuke. Suddenly Kurama stopped walking.
"Who are you and why are you following me?"
Yuri straightened her back as Kurama didn't turn around.
"I'm helping the Detective. I'm after the mirror."
Kurama turned around at her voice, pausing for a moment as he took in her form.
"I'm sorry. I can not return the mirror just yet. I have my own reasons to use it."
Yuri tilted her head slightly as she kept her emotionless face in place.
"Your own reasons? That's a weapon used to grant the wish of whoever uses it. Are you planning on using it against the Human world? Or is that why you left your partners? You're wanting to use it for your own gain."
Kurama felt himself smirk.
"You're preceptive, not human either, who are you?"
Yuri walked over to him before extending her hand.
"My name is Yuri, fox demon, researcher for the spirit world."
The pair shook hands, both blinking at the sparks they felt at the contact before pulling their hands away.
"You're not exactly human yourself, are you?"
Yuri questioned as it started to rain, making her open a small umbrella to protect herself.
"Very perceptive, but I'm afraid I'm not willing to indulge in that information."
Yuri nodded in understanding.
"I can respect that."
The pair stood in silence for a moment.
"So you're not planning on fighting the Detective. Correct?"
Kurama closed his eyes for a moment before looking at Yuri again, his emerald green meeting her ice blue, a memory sparking far into his subconscious.
"If he will grant me four days, then I will hand over the mirror without a fight."
Yuri thought for a moment, starting to feel a sense of familiarity around the boy.
"That would be the full moon, when the mirror is at its peak. However, something needs to be given in exchange. Are you aware of what that is?"
Kurama held her gaze as it began to bother him that he felt like he should know this demon.
"I am."
Yuri nodded.
"And whatever your desire is, is it worth that exchange?"
Kurama felt himself smirk, the demon intriguing him as her face remained vacant of expression reminding him of Hiei.
"It is."
Yuri nodded as her compact buzzed, quickly she answered it.
"Yes Botan?"
The blue haired girl popped up on the screen.
"I found Yusuke. Where are you? I can heal him but it would go a lot faster with your help."
Yuri smiled at hearing Yusuke was still alive.
"I'll be there soon."
She clicked the compact closed before looking at the boy in front of her.
"I believe I'll have to cut this conversation short. I'm sure we will see each other soon."
Yuri smiled easily at him before opening a portal and appearing in her living room.
"What took you so long? Yusuke's asleep."
Yuri nodded as she walked into his room and focused on healing him.
"I had a conversation with Kurama."
Botan blinked in surprise.
"What?"
Yuri nodded again as she moved to the bruises on Yusuke's face.
"He's not going to fight, however, he wants to use the mirror. For what I don't know."
Seeing that Yusuke was back healed she motioned for Botan to follow her into her room where she dropped her glamor and shook her head.
"There was something else."
Botan looked intrigued as she watched her friend change, scars from past battles littered her body.
"What is it?"
Yuri pulled her nightgown on.
"That boy, he's obviously not human. His aura, it feels familiar."
Botan looked closely at her friend.
"Familiar?"
Yuri nodded.
"Like a memory I've forgotten. I feel like I should know him. But I just can't make the connection."
That's it for now!
See you in the next one!
