The last tendrils of awareness from the last leap disappeared with a sigh. Dr. Sam Beckett buried his head deeper into the pillow he found beneath his head, wrapping the soft heat of the body-warmed covers around his shoulders. Realizing that he was awake, Sam opened his eyes. Too-bright morning light reflected off the white wall from a window on the opposite side of the room. Brilliant awareness suddenly shot through his spine and he let his head fall back to the pillow, exhausted. He was home. The room was his—it used to be his…1995, that's what the calendar said. A suddenly-lazy smile drifted across his features and he turned over, burying his face into the pillow—and the warm, pleasant shoulder of the other occupant of the bed. Too delighted by familiarity to be surprised, Sam let the strong arms encircle him, felt the other's fingers caress his hair.
"Sam…" Sam jerked upwards, responding to Al's voice and eliciting a groan of pain from the one beneath him that he had just kneed in the stomach. "Sam! What'd you do that for?!"
"Al?" Sam looked incredulously at the other occupant of the bed. And, suddenly, he could remember it all—what Al's lips felt like on his own, the soft-rough hands all over his body, the fireworks in his eyes as he came, and the sultry whispers that tickled his neck. Before he knew what was happening, he was crushing Al beneath his body, desperate to feel him after all this time. He knew he was crying, and he didn't care.
"Sam?" Al's voice was timid. "What was that about? Not that I'm complaining…" He added, the characteristic humor back in his voice.
Sam fought tears back from his eyes and tried to get even closer to the other's body.
"I love you, Al."
"…I love you, too, Sam."
He leaped.
