The Loud House: A Suddenly Sinful Tale - Bed-Wetter

A little girl's eyes shot open one early November morning. It didn't take long for her to realize just what had happened. Little Bed Loud, age five, had wet the bed. Now you and I both know it's completely normal. Children wet the bed. Some far longer than others. But little Bed Loud wasn't like other children, oh no, she was a very recent addition to a very not so normal family.

Said family was known as the Loud's, a very well known family, mostly due to its absurd size, and one she'd grown to love with all her heart and soul. Bed never wanted to leave, but that was all over now, they were sure to send her back to that horrible place she came from.

Bed didn't want to go back. She wanted to stay here with her new family.

Before her new mommy saved her she lived in an orphanage in a tiny village on the island of Taiwan. An older person in her position might have said, at least I have a roof over my head, food in my belly and a bed to sleep in, but that wasn't enough for a child. A child needed emotional stimulation to grow into a functional adult. A child needed love. And that's something the orphanage certainly lacked.

While most of the orphans came from neighbouring towns and villages, she didn't. She was different. She was born in mainland China. Growing up she didn't understand, but the other kids did, and these that didn't were quickly made aware. Humans are a funny lot. Much like animals the ones that are different are often excluded. This was no different.

Rain was still fresh in the air as a crying girl ran from a group of angry boys. 'Run! You don't belong here!' One shouted in a foreign language as she ducked behind a nearby corner. This had become an almost daily occurrence. Once the adults sent them outside to 'play' the other orphans would gang up on her. Lately it had gotten worse. What started as shouting and shoving had eventually turned into chasing and beating.

Thump!

She let out a tiny squeak as she fell and scraped her knee. In an effort to escape her pursuers the girl accidentally ran into someone much bigger than herself. "Oh em gosh, like, are you OK?" A feminine voice asked. "Here, let me help you up." She reached down and lifted her up onto her feet. The person in front of her was unlike any she'd seen before. Her skin was oddly pale and her eyes blue, but what stood out most was her long light hair. The people in the village mostly had smooth dark hair, but this person's hair was wavy and light, like a cloud fashioned from golden strands.

"Oh wow, you're bleeding." The woman said looking at a cut on her knee. "It doesn't look to deep." She had no idea what the heavenly woman was saying, but it sounded warm, and her touch was warm. "Let's go find your mommy and daddy."

It would be a while before the girl finally understood what the woman said that day, but once she did she couldn't help but smile. They didn't have to look far. Her new mommy was right there with her.

Quietly the little girl snuck down the staircase carrying the soaked bed sheet she feared would be her downfall. Her only option was to hide it. Her new family would surely force her to leave this paradise of love and warmth if they were to catch her. Finally she reached the bottom step only to come face to face with a giant shadow hanging over her.

The looming figure was that of the Loud family newcomer. One even newer than her, and that was saying something. His name was Lincoln Loud, and apparently he was her new daddy from some other place. Her new family tried their best to explain it to her, but Bed just didn't understand. She'd only been part of the family for five months, and during her first month her old new daddy vanished and this new stranger appeared in his place.

"Bed'y, is that you?" He asked bending at the knees to get a better view. Once at her height Lincoln saw the tears welling up in the corners of her eyes as she tried her utmost to hide behind the stained bed sheet.

It was all over for her. She'd been caught red-handed. He was going to tell her new mommy and they were going to send her back to that awful place far away from her new life here in Royal Woods.

"Hey now, what's the matter?" He asked worriedly.

Bed's English wasn't too good, but she understood the tone of the man's voice behind the question. There was nervousness to it. As if he wasn't too sure what to do or say. Call it children's intuition. Yet, she was still apprehensive.

Even here in the dimly lit first floor of the "Loud House" Lincoln could tell that what she was trying to hide behind was a bunched up bed sheet. But why would she be carrying that around the house in the dark? Then it hit him. "You have an accident, huh?" He asked reaching towards her.

Bed instinctively flinched. This was it. He was going to hurt her. Punish her for the bad thing she did. Bed waited but the hurt never came. Instead she felt the sheet in get taken from her arms.

"What, are you just going to stand there looking at me? We have laundry to do." Lincoln gestured to the basement as she finally opened her eyes. Most people would say following a strange man into a basement was a bad idea, but their basement was a little different. Her Aunt Lana had renovated it into separate living areas consisting of two bedrooms, one her Aunt Lisa's and another Loan's, and a third open space where they kept the washer and dryer.

"Did you have a nightmare?" He asked turning on the basement light. Lincoln wasn't too worried about the noise waking anyone up. Lana mentioned they got an as new washing machine and dryer from Rusty's for a really good price. Ones that didn't rattle the whole house awake.

Bed shook her head. "No." Her voice barely above a whisper.

"Lemy snuck you juice, didn't he?" Lincoln knew the truth. Since landing in this universe he'd spent most nights aimlessly walking about the first floor. It was during one of these that Lincoln ran into Lemy sneaking a couple glasses of juice up the stairs. Apparently it was his weird way of trying to bond with his new little sister.

"This reminds me an awful lot of your aunt Lynn growing up. Well, my version of her." Lincoln said as he picked Bed up. "Everyone thinks your Aunt Lori was the one who took the longest to stop peeing the bed, but really it was your Aunt Lynn." He placed her atop the dryer. "She used to wet the bed until she was twelve, but don't tell anyone." He leaned in whispering the last part. "It's a secret." Lincoln smiled at the memories of Lynn sneaking out at night to clean up her mess. He was a light sleeper, so he'd often wake up whenever she opened her bedroom door.

Bed couldn't help but giggle. The idea of one of her new aunts wetting the bed when they were younger was amusing. Especially the tough one.

"In fact, each and every Loud has wet the bed." Lincoln wasn't sure if that was true, but he trusted the statistics were on his side. "Think of it as a rite of passage. You're a true Loud now." He said giving her a little wink as he stuffed the urine stained sheet in the washing machine.

Her eyes sparkled. Bed understood that last part. "R-really?" She asked looking up at him. Not only did he not punish or scold her, he helped and even called her an official Loud. No longer was she just the little Chinese girl whose photo was taped onto the family portrait, but an honest to goodness Loud.

"That's right." Lincoln answered as he began to look about the badly lit basement for something. "Ah! This will work." He said reaching behind the water heater for an old dusty toilet plunger. It took a bit of effort but the young man was eventually able to pry the rubber head loose. 'Wow. That was really on there.' He thought as he placed the rubber head atop his own head. Disgusting maybe, but nothing a quick shower wouldn't take care of. "Now." Lincoln said holding the plunger's wooden handle like it was a sword. "I dub thee, Lady Bed of house Loud. Just don't tell your Aunt Lana. She can be a real plunger hog."

"Ok, you, it's time for you to get some sleep. You've got preschool in the morning, and don't worry, I'll take care of the "evidence"." He said thumb pointing over at the vibrating washing machine. "First let's go put a clean sheet on that bed of yours. Do you have any in your room?" He asked lifting her off of the dryer.

Bed wasn't too sure what he said, but going off of the few words she did understand she assumed he was talking about bed sheet. "Yes. Pink." She replied hoping it was the right answer.

"Pink, huh?" Lincoln asked as they headed up the stairs. "Good choice."

It only took a few minutes but Bed was finally in a freshly made bed. "There, all snugly." Lincoln said tucking her in. "And no more juice before bed, got it?" He waved a pointed finger at her. Bed's face instantly fell but she nodded nonetheless. "OK." She said as Lincoln turned off the light. "Maybe a cookie instead? I'll talk to Lemy." She gave him a tiny smile. Bed liked cookies a lot more than juice, but knew how strict some of their parents were about eating too much sugar.

"Night daddy. I love you." Bed said closing her eyes.

Did she just call him daddy? Lincoln knew it was wrong, Bed wasn't his daughter, yet it sounded so right to his ears. "Love you too, Bed'y. Sleep tight." He whispered back closing the door softly.

Bed went back to sleep knowing one thing for sure. Wetting the bed wasn't so bad, and even if she did her new daddy would be there to help her.
