There's a knock at the door and Burt comes in. Blaine never saw the adult that happy but of course he has every reason to be. "Kurt! I can't believe it!" the man says and wraps his son in a tight but careful hug which Kurt returns weakly.

"Hello Burt. I'm glad you could make it that fast. I give you two some time alone now. If you need me, I'm in the cafeteria taking my break but I have my beeper with me so don't hesistate to call for me" Blaine says and leaves to finally have his proper break.

Happy that Kurt is awake and seems to be alright Blaine goes down to the cafeteria. He orders a coffee and lunch and sits down at a free table.

Since he came here it was clear that his priority is Kurt but in a comatose state there's nothing much to do besides regular check ups and talking to the relatives. So he had plenty time for other patients.

Yes he likes his other patients but they‚re all are so exhausting lately so now that Kurt is awake Blaine will spend lots of time with him and all the other exhausting patients must take preference with the other nurses.

While Blaine finally takes his break Burt tells Kurt everything that happened, starting with the plane crash.

While listening Kurt realizes that even tho he isn't awake that long he already misses to sing, dance and listen to music.

He definitly needs to start his training with Blaine as soon as possible so he's up on his feet again. His voice on the other hand sounds a bit clearer. Still a whisper but stronger. Once the breathing assistance is away his voice will come back.

But about Blaine. Kurt has the feeling he saw him before. But where?

"Oh and there's something I have to tell you" Burt brings Kurt back to reality. "What is it?" the son asks, looking expectingly at his father. He seems nervous and scratches his neck.

"I don't work in the tire shop anymore" Burt says. He's afraid that something could be too much for his son since he woke up about an hour ago. "B-But the tire shop was your life" Kurt says confused.

"I still own it son. But Steven took over because I got a different offer so please just listen while I tell you everything" Burt asks and his son nods but stays silent.

"Okay so I remember how you and Finn often complained about people not taking the arts seriously in high school like Sue Sylvester. Finances, programs, appreciation and god knows what else" he starts.

"About half a year ago I talked to Will Schuester and he told me about Sue wanting to destroy the arts with help of the congress. So I ran against her and I won.

Now I'm a congress man, who would've thought, and I'm just glad that I'm not in DC at the moment so I can be with you " he finishes. His son stays silent, just looking at him.

"Okay I'm done. Please say something" the man breaks the silence. Maybe it was too much for a start or maybe Kurt disapproves that Steven now runs the shop that he still owns.

"Dad I'm proud of you. It's great that you want to help the arts and fought against Sue. I will miss you when you have to go back to DC but we saw each other less when I was stuck in New York because of school so I think we'll manage" Kurt says and opens his arms to hug his dad as good as he can.

Burt hugs his son back and tells "I wanted to decline first because I didn't want to be away from you but Carol pushed me a little and now I'm glad I did it".

"Me too. When do you have to go to DC again?" Kurt asks and his father answers "We have time. I came back just a few days ago and in the summer everyone has plans with their families".

"Okay but don't pressure yourself too much into visiting me that often becasue I still have Adam and Rachel, Justin and Finn. Enjoy some time with Carol. I'll be busy training with Blaine anyway" Kurt says laughing.

"Someone is eager to get back on their feet I see" Burt says laughing "Blaine is a kind young man. He'll help you a lot with everything. Until a month ago there was another nurse, Lucas. He was okay but not nearly as kind and passionate as Blaine is".

"I can't wait to start" Kurt answers and hears someone saying ""Start with what?". It's Blaine, who's back from his break and enters the room.

"With training. I wanna get back up on my feet" Kurt answers "To dance again". "Okay" Blaine laughs "But it'll take time and maybe not work with the first try". "Yeah I can imagine but at least I'd try" Kurt answers and Blaine laughs more "That's the spirit".

""Now if you would excuse us Burt, Doctor Peters said I should get Kurt ready for some tests" Blaine says and Burt nods and hugs his son once more before he stands up "The others will come around tomorrow".

"Bye Dad" Kurt says and watches his dad leaving passing Blaine with an exchange of "Bye Burt" and "Bye Blaine".

Then Blaine comes closer, checking his mental list on what he has to do now for what test and in which order. There are quite a few tests that Kurt has to go through today.

"So. How about breathing by yourself? Should be easy work right?" he says and removes the breathing assistance from Kurts throat "Your voice should come back slowly now as well". "Great" Kurt smiles and clears his throat.

Blaine removes several other tubes and whires Kurt doesn't really knows the function of while explaining which tests Doctor Peters wants to do. With most of them Kurt is okay but when he hears "cat scan" his eyes wide.

"Isn't that the small, loud thing? Are you sure I need to do that?" he asks and Blaine nods "I'm afraid yes but would it help if I tell you that I'm there the whole time?". "Maybe?" Kurt says but nods "I guess".

"Okay so you lay still and close your eyes and instead of listening to the machine you hum. Have a favorite song? Close your eyes and hum it" he says as he positions Kurt.

"What about being with me the whole time?" the younger man asks. "I'll be right there with Doctor Peters and the only thing between us is a door and glass. Everything will be fine" Blaine says with a caring smile.

He has a Plan B and a Plan C. "Out of pure curiosity. Which somg are you having in mind?" he asks and Kurt doesn't has to think long about it and he smiles "Being Alive".

"Great choice" Blaine compliments "Ready?". "Ready" Kurt answers with a small nod. Blaine nods in direction of the doctor and then smiles to Kurt before leavign him and joining the doctor.

Only after a short while Kurt stops humming, realizing the position he's in. But Blaine reacts fast and starts humming in the microphone where Kurt stopped in the middle of the song.

For just a few seconds Kurt concentrates on Blaines humming, joining him again but the panic takes over and he stops again. Doctor Peters and Blaine notice that too but Kurt is almost done so they need him to stay calm for just a few seconds longer.

That's why Blaine stops humming and says calmly "Kurt stay calm and breath deep". Then he goes back to Kurt, sits down on a stool, takes the boys hand and starts humming again. This time the young man relaxes again and starts humming along. Plan C worked.

Not long after he's finally done and glad it's over. "Thank you" he says sincerily and Blaine smiles "That's what I'm here for".

"You sounded good. Why did you stop?" Blaine asks after a little pause. "I paniced…" Kurt admitted before he adds "You sounded good too". "Thank you. I was in my high schools glee club" Blaine tells and on Kurts lips forms a smile "Really? Me too!".

"How about I bring you back to your room and while we get you back up we find some time to get to know each other better?" Blaine proposes. "Why not now?" Kurt asks a bit dissapointed so Blaine answers "Because you still have to run through some tests, then it's time for dinner and after that I'm off work and need to get home".

"Blaine?" Kurt asks when he's back in his room. "Yes Kurt?" the nurse asks back and Kurt asks "When can we start with the training?". "Take it slow Kurt. You only woke up today and still have to do some tests. Tomorrow we can start. Slowly" Blaine answers.

And so just like Blaine said, Kurt runs through more and more tests. He stopped counting at some point. The only training he got today just by chatting with Blaine is training his voice.

"So how does this work now?" Kurt asks, eyeing the food. "For now I help you with everything, eating for example, and the more we train and the better you get the better you can do things on your own again at some point" Blaine explains.

"So now you'll feed me?" Kurt asks and the nurse nods "Until you can do it yourself again yes". "It feels weird. I'm 21 and need someone to feed me. That doesn't feel right" he repeats.

Blaine nods "I can understand but I try to make it as normal and comfortable for the both of us and after a while it's okay. Also before you know it you'll be able to do this by yourself again". "Hm… Okay. I don't really have a choice anyway right?".

After dinner Blaine asks Kurt if he needs somethign before he goes to the locker room and changes out of his dark blue casaque and into his normal clothes.

Then he goes to Kurt one more time "I'm going home now. But one of the night nurses will be there for you". "And what if I have sleeping troubles or nightmares like you said?" Kurt asks.

He doesn't know the night nurse yet but he trusts Blaine more. Maybe because he's a male and Kurt doesn't know if one of the night nurses is too or maybe becuase he's just about two years older than Kurt.

The male nurse comes in completely. Kurts insecurity is normal. "Then you push the button and one of the nurses will help you. Just like with anything else if you need something. I'll be back tomorrow morning" Blaine explains and smiles reassuringly at Kurt.

The other boy nods "Okay. Good night Blaine". "Good night Kurt" Blaine answers and leaves again.
