When Blaine goes to Kurt the next morning the breakfast is silent as well but Blaine will change that today. He made a plan. They can't go on like this much longer.
"i don't want to hear no now but we'll do something today. No usual training but it'll help and will feel exhausting like training as well" Blaine says and sees Kurt grimacing "Really?". "Yes really Kurt. I'll just change because we'll do it together but I don't want to wear my work clothes".
"So what are we doing?" Kurt asks, trying to hide his curiousity behind the self pity he still has. "You'll see" Blaine answers, putting away his casaque. He quickly changed in Kurts bathroom, now wearing gym clothes.
When Kurt sits in the wheelchair Blaine places his bad on Kurts lap, telling him not to peak while Blaine brings them to the trainings location which doesn't seem to be the normal gym room.
"Blaine what are we doing in the basement?" Kurt asks. He's really not in the mood for games. Then Blaine stops and leaves Kurt in confusion "A punching bag?". "Open the bag" Blaine says and Kurt does so and sees two pair of gloves. Boxing gloves.
While the younger man stays silent, looking at the gloves, Blaine tells "At one of my first days here I got lost and somehow found myself here again. Monica had to come down here to bring me back upstairs but rumor has it that staff members can come here as a vent if they need a break. I never needed one here but I think we both need one now".
"So what's your plan?" Kurt asks and Blaine answers "We're boxing. Do you want to go first or should I?". "Me? Boxing?" the younger man asks and Blaine nods "Arm training included. Give it a chance". "Hm. Okay. But you go first. I first want to look how to" Kurt says and Blaine nods "Okay".
The curly haired boy takes his blue gloves out of the bag, leaving Sebastians red ones in for Kurt.
He puts his own on and focuses on the bag. Then he starts punching. Slower, faster, softer, harder, more up, more down. It didn't matter. He punches. It feels good. It always feels good.
Kurt stares at him open mouthed. That looks really professional to someone who doesn't know a thing about boxing. But not only the boxing looks good but Blaine does too. Is that allowed to think during a heart break?
Kurt already admitted himself that Blaine is good looking but niw with the gloves on, in his own bubble, his muscles showing and already small himts of sweat on his forehead. Not bad. Not at all. He finds Blaine to but that's okay right? It's okay to think that about your nurse and friend. It doesn't mean anything.
"Kurt?" Blaine asks for the second time now and the questioned man snaps back to reality "Hm?". "I said your turn" Blaine says as he puts away his gloves and takes out the red ones "These are Sebastians but he lend them to me for you".
Carefully he helps Kurt putting them on and laughs when Kurt says "Wow that feels heavy". "I told you, arm training inclusive" Blaine answers and rolls Kurt closer to the punching bag "Now let it all out". Kurts hands might not want the way he does but his arms still work and that should be enough for now.
Blaine himself feels better again. Now he just hopes that his plan works and it helps Kurt as well.
"Let it all out?" Kurt asks and Blaine nods "The anger, the sadness, the pain and the pity". About the last thing Kurt rolls his eyes so Blaine continues "Sometimes it helps if you think about the punching bag as a person. You still hit the bag and no person but it still helps if you imagine".
"Do you pretend too?" Kurt asks and the other man answers "If I do then mostly my dad yes". "So I can think of anyone?" the younger man asks further and Blaine nods "Adam, Justin, McKinley bullies or me if that helps you after what happened between us yesterday".
"You'd be okay if I imagine you?" Kurt asks in disbelief and Blaine laughs "There's nothing I could do about anyway. And what if I tell you that I thought about you when I boxed in my room yesterday evening?". "Did you really?" Kurt asks and Blaine nods "Else I probably wouldn't have had the idea to do this with you".
Kurt nods on that and looks at the punching bag, focusing it "So how do I do that?" "I'm not your coach and I'm not a professional. Plus this is just for stress relief and feeling relief so I'd say just punch the bag in any way you like. Just punch it" Blaine answers and Kurt nods.
And so Kurt starts punching, first soft but then growing braver, stonger and harder with every punch. "Come on Kurt. More!" Blaine encourages him and slowly Kurt can feel what Blaine meant.
First he imagines Justins face on the bag, punching him for what he did
"I thought we were friends"
But Justin didn't hide anymore, telling Kurt unfiltered and rather proud about how long they are together already
"How could you do this?"
Then Justins face vanishes and instead Adam grins at him, his happy face making Kurt even more angry
"I hate you!"
He made Kurt believe that he waited one year for him
"You're not an angel"
But lied to him the whole time
"You're a fucking player!"
It was too much for Kurt. He punched enough, his muscles burning and his arms feeling tired. He has a headache and the feelings overwhelm him all at once as he starts crying.
Blaine is immediatly by his side. His plan worked. All the feelings that Kurt pushed down in his non training, pity party are finally free.
As carefully as Blaine helped Kurt into the gloves he helps him out again and puts them on the ground before wrapping Kurt in a hug where the younger one continues crying.
After a while Kurt calms down again. He needed that. Movies might help but they did nothing for the anger in him and punching was good.
"How did you know?" Kurt asks after a while. He watches Blaine punching the bag again, blue gloves against black punching bag and the red gloves back in the bag.
Non of them wanted to go up again just now so Blaine decided to keep boxing since Kurt said he's okay with just watching. Kurt was more than okay with that. "Been there" Blaine mumbles.
"Tell me" Kurt says and Blaine tells "His name was Tom and we were't together for that long. Two months or so if not less. But I was head over heels for him and pretty sure that I love him. But from one day to another he ghosted me. I never heard from him again and I was heart broken. I was 15 or 16 and he was a year older".
Kurt could see that Blaines eyes darken and his jaw clenches as he starts punching stronger and harder again. "Do you see his face on the punching bag right now?" Kurt asks and Blaine nods "Mhm".
Then he punches one more final time with all his power and stops.
He takes a deep breath and takes off the gloves "We should go upstairs again. Must be lunch time soon". "But I don't want to" Kurt says, It's quiet down here. Like it's only him and Blaine and no one can interrupt them.
"Come on Kurt" Blaine says and gives him the bag before rolling Kurt out of the basement. He needs to change back into his casaque before lunch.
In Kurts room Blaine goes straight to the bathroom, freshes up and changes back into work clothes. And just like Blaine thought they are ready just in time for lunch.
While Blaine helps Kurt he asks "How are you feeling now?". "Better" Kurt answers and Blaine asks "Good enough to start training again? Normal training?". Kurt grimances but nods "But go easy on me okay?".
"How about that" Blaine proposes "In the afternoon today we do a little finger and hands training because I'm sue you want to eat by yourself again soon. And tomorrow we slowly start with training again. Oh and if you ever want to let your feelings out on a punching bag you can text me and I take the gloves with me to work".
Kurt agrees on that and that's why in the afternoon they do a bit of baby steps training , talking and listening to music.
"I'm glad you feel better now" Blaine says and Kurt answers "Yeah me too. Sorry for snapping at you yesterday". "I have to apologize too. I wasn't exactly nice to you" Blaine answers but Kurt shakes his head "You were honest with me and you were right with what you said. I'm just glad this is over now".
"Yeah me too. I don't like fighting with you" Blaine says and Kurt agrees "I don't like fighting with you either". "So we're friends again?" Blaine asks and Kurt nods "Friends".
The agreement ends in a hug, officially ending the fight they had.
"Can I tell you something?" Kurt asks after breaking the hug. "Of course. Always" Blaine answers and Kurt tells "Even tho I was mad at you and probably would've ignored you I waited for you to say good night. It felt like something was missing and I couldn't sleep well".
"Should I tell you something too?" Blaine asks and contines without waiting for Kurts answer "I was at your door but I thought you didn't want to see me or we would continue fighting. So I went home without coming in but for me it felt like something was missing too".
Both men start first smiling and then laughing because of how stubborn they both were.
Then Blaine gets serious again "You said you couldn't sleep well?". "Well yeah… I called the night nurse, took one of those pills" Kurt answers. Blaines expression softens "Kurt you know you can always call me right? Even when we fight you can call me if you need someone". "Thank you. That's good to know" Kurt says and smiles at his friend.
