So last year, I finally ended my first online posted Gumball fanfic, The Power. It was a nice story wrap up, made me cry with how bittersweet it was to see such important thing end. Well, that's not all. ^^'
Around the time I was working on the last chapters of The Power (go read it if you'd like, it's a great story, personally recommend the Wattpad version as it has drawings by yours truly and nice updated first few chapters), I had come up with this fun little alternate idea.
What if by a crazy change of fate, Gumball was raised to be a witch by well, the witch Elizabeth, and after several years ended up back into his old hometown having to adapt to it?
It was a fun little idea, and I wrote it in a Google Doc n' all. But then it hit me. "Oh this really IS a good idea." So here we are! Took a long while, but now you're looking at my alternate take on The Power. ^^
Now as for disclaimers. This story has death! You'll see. The witch, or rather Elizabeth, is an original character created by me. Also, as I said, this is an alternate take on another story of mine. So if some points sound confusing, I recommend going to the actual fic itself, it'll help you understand some things.
Anyways, with all that out of the way, onto the chapter. Enjoy. :)

"Gumball get down!"
A young at the time Nicole was frantic, as she kept the mentioned 4 year old hidden from the window, both sitting under it behind the toy box.
"What's going on?" The little cat looked up at her with concern, innocent and not grasping the situation.
"Ssh, they might hear you, just try to stay quiet, alright?"
Loud crashes were heard from downstairs, startling the two.
"WHERE'S THAT LITTLE FREAK?!"
Gumball grew frightened, hugging his mom as shouting from Richard was heard from downstairs. A loud crash and a thud was soon met with silence, tears seen streaming down the young kitten's face, as was the case for Nicole as well.
The noises grew louder, as Nicole realized they were going to be trapped if they didn't move. She carefully stood up, taking the young cat with her. "Come here sweetie, to the window."
Gumball was quick to obey, and the two fled from the house, which was noticed by the men pursuing them, who had just come into the bedroom, with a terrifying crash from the door breaking down.
"Mom, why do they want to hurt us?" The young feline asked, as Nicole ran as fast as she could, carrying him in her arms. Yesterday had been amazing, with him showing his parents what amazing thing he had discovered he could do. It had been so great, all of them in awe. Why had it suddenly been snatched away tonight?
"Because those bad men want to take you away, but I won't let them lay a single finger on you even if it's the last thing I do." She replied, her anger very clear in her words.
The group of men were now chasing after them, getting closer by the minute. Nicole was quick to run into the woods to try and lose them. Though with her cat night vision it was hard to see, as she constantly ducked branches and jumped over fallen logs, breathing rapid and tired.
Gumball watched all this with worry and fear, afraid of the outcome. Unfortunately, they wouldn't make it out so safely.
A loud gunshot was fired, the sound ringing through the area. The young cat covered his ears, however, was shocked to find himself falling over to the ground. He sat up, panicking as he saw his mother weakly trying to get up. Blood could be seen dripping from her shirt.
"...Mom?..." Gumball approached her, kneeling down as he helped her slightly sit up against a tree. "..You're gonna be okay right?..."
Nicole was slightly struggling to breathe, as she saw the men come closer. "Gumball you need to run.. They're coming.."
"What?.. Mom no I can't leave you!" Tears showed back up in Gumball's eyes, as he desperately tried to help her up, however could not. He turned around to see the men were scarily nearby, terrifyingly angry as they were reaching out to grab him.
All of this was too much for the young kitten to handle, shouting getting louder and louder and the environment around him swirling until he couldn't take it. He suddenly screamed, red light blasting out of him as everything went a bright white.
"..."
Silence.
Gumball opened his eyes, confused and afraid of what had just happened. He glanced around, fear increasing. The angry men were facedown in the grass, unmoving. Had he done that?
What broke his heart most was his mother.
Nicole was slumped over onto the tree, blood surrounding her as her eyes were rolled back into her head.
"...Mom no…. No please… Please wake up…" Gumball tried shaking her awake, but she did not stir. Tears poured down the kitten's face, as he sobbed in his mother's arms, horrible thoughts starting to set in.
Is she dead because of him? What would he do now? His parents were dead. He was all alone. His life had practically been snatched from him, and for what? What did he do to deserve this? All he did was show his cool powers, why was he given this?
"I feel sympathy for you child."
Gumball flinched, looking up as he noticed a short elderly woman watching him, with unusually long red hair sitting on her shoulders. "...What?..."
"These horrible people.. They took your mother's life, is that right?.."
"...And dad…" He uttered quietly, not moving from his mother's deceased body. "...I don't even know what I did wrong… Am I bad?.."
"Not in the slightest child," The old woman soon came closer, helping him stand up. Her face had been grim, but she showed enough friendliness as not to intimidate him. "Those horrible people did not understand you, it was not your fault."
"..How come you're being nice to me?.." He was afraid to be near her however, taking steps back.
"I know the pain of losing your loved ones.." She said, as she came a little closer, wiping a few tears off his face. "My mother was killed for witchcraft back in the 1500s.. I was left all alone because of it."
"Isn't that like a long long time ago?" Gumball asked, raising an eyebrow. His child-like curiosity had returned, for a moment his worries washing away. "How old are you?.."
"493." The woman replied. "I'm sure you've guessed that I'm a witch too?"
"You're a witch?" A look of awe appeared in the kitten's eyes, as he glanced down at his paws for a moment. "And I'm a witch too?"
"Indeed child," She said, with a small smile. "Red magic, to be specific. It's a wonderful gift, and those men were morons for wanting to take others away in your life for it."
"...What do I do?..." The cat's voice got softer, as tears were threatening to show up again. He didn't dare look at the red substance that laid in the grass.
The old woman began to frown, as she took him by the paw. "It'll be alright, they won't hurt you anymore. I'll make sure of it."
Before she could continue further, her eyes widened in surprise as Gumball hugged her tightly.
"..Thank you…"
She smiled, patting his head. "Of course. Now come along child, we'll stay at my home where it will be safe. What is your name if I may ask?"
The kitten followed her through the woods, a slight skip in his step now, as he smiled. "Gumball!"
"A very curious name I see, but it matches you well."
As they walked further off, the red grass began to dry in the light wind.
