Omoi Yotsuki sat in the locker room alone, today was the biggest game of his career thus far. Having been promoted as a 16-year-old from the FC Tokyo U21s, he broke onto the scene in a manner not before seen in the nation of Japan. The 16-year-old was not long after the word on everyone's mouths, the next starling of Japan. The people were hoping he would be the one to raise the level of their countries football reputation. Omoi's story was not one full of roses, at the tender age of 10 he had witnessed his mother bleed out in front of him. Omoi's father had made very dangerous enemies in the Yakuza and the coward had taken the easy way out leaving his mom to be punished for loving the man. That anger, trauma, feeling of hopelessness was what drove him. Omoi had taken football a lot more seriously after that, everything he did was for his mother. This drive made him stand apart from his peers at every youth level, he bullied the defenders. An unstoppable player in youth football who adapted like a fish to water in the J-League.
The sound of Kanye West's song "Flashing Lights" blasted loudly through his headphones. One by one the locker room filled up with his teammates. They all sat there awaiting the speech from the coach, Omoi slid his headphones off.
"Now, I need not stress the magnitude of this occasion. This right here, look around you. These are the people that you will make history with. Never before has FC Tokyo won the J-League but you managed to do what many men wiser before you have failed. When you step out there, you only have one option and that is to win at all costs. Now come on, Win on three. 1…2…3…" The manager yelled out
"WIN!", the entire locker room rang out, every man motivated as they began to file out one by one.
Omoi was the last to stand and the manager waited with him, gesturing for him to come closer.
"You have always fought to rise above, Rise above once more Senshi (Warrior')", he said tenderly to the boy he had seen come leaps and bounds in such a short period of time.
"You got it coach" The teen beamed and ran in a hurry to catch his teammates.
FC TOKYO VS YOKOHAMA FM
"Now im your commentator Kisashi Mishimoto and today on the final matchday we have the title deciding game. Two teams performing at the highest level of Japanese football. Tokyo needs a victory here today, any result other than that will result in Yokohama once more winning the coveted trophy. As the two teams walk out the attention of the entire nation rests on the young shoulders of 16-year-old Omoi Yotsuki. A record shattering first campaign for the youngster, currently on 25 goals and 12 assists he is a freak unlike any other seen before. The 16-year-old at his frame of 5ft10 is deceptively strong and blisteringly fast. He can go both ways, left, right, it doesn't matter. Quite possibly the most complete player to come out the youth ranks I have seen in my 20 years commentating Japanese football. The teams brace for kick off and… we are off with the ball in Yokohama's Possession", The entire nation tuned hoping to be entertained.
Omoi's POV:
It's been about 10 minutes since the match started. Yokohama from the gates were playing with a high tempo, moving the ball in a manner that broke our press numerous times. Slowly the sounds from the home fans grew more antsy, anxious as Yokohama had come close to scoring twice already. Our right back, Kingestu cleared the ball, and it went out for a throw in. Instructions were being yelled at decibels unheard of before by the manager. Keep the ball, ok that was simple enough to follow. I turned to my wingers and midfielders telling them to get the ball to me.
5 minutes had passed and finally my first chance to stamp my print onto the match came. A long ball from the goalkeeper straight in my direction. Peaking over my shoulder there were only three defenders guarding the backline. A 3v3 with me and the wingers would be very dangerous. I kept my eyes on the ball the entire time as it fell. I felt a body press onto my back, and I smiled as the bait was taken, swiveling around the defender I ran into the space the defender had left unoccupied. The ball flew over his hand, and I watched it over my shoulder onto my boot. Bringing it down I scanned the pitch. 3v2 scernario, Adilton on the left wing was busting a gut to get up ahead of me and looking towards Watanabe on the right he was being guarded closely. Running at the defender closest to me with the ball I had to make him make a decision. Either he would track Addi's run and allow me to get through to the goalkeeper or press forward. Getting closer the defender stopped backing off and pressed forward in an attempt to make a tacke. I slid the ball from my left foot to my right, Iniesta's famous Croqueta transitioned to a through ball with my right. The defender struck me down, ref playing advantage as I watched with bated breath as addi touched the ball into the boxer. The goalkeeper came off his line in an attempt to close the angle. Addi, cool and composed slots the ball into the far corner running off to celebrate. Getting onto my feet I ran towards him as the crowd exploded in jubilation.

"What a clinical counter attack, turning nothing into something Omoi's trickery left the defense in tatters. Addilton with the first goal of the night and on what an occasion. The rising star of Japan announces himself on the biggest stage as he provides a class assist to Addilton who remained composed under pressure to put his team ahead. Ladies and Gentleman we have a game on us here. The Yokohama players will be disappointed with conceding, but with 70+ minutes left we could be in for a rollercoaster of emotion here today."
The rest of the first half was a lot more even after the first goal with both teams having a fair share of the ball until the whistle blew for half time
"Halftime, both teams head down the tunnel as Yokohama's manager hopes to invoke a comeback while I'm sure Tokyo will be happy with their performance. We'll see you back when the game resumes."
Halftime Show
Japanese Football legend Shinji Kagawa sat at an analysis table with a couple other esteemed people in Japanese football and the national youth team coach.
"Shinji what do you make of that first half" Pundit 1 asked
"An entertaining game thus far, both teams relatively equal" Shinji replied
"Indeed, interesting match thus far with the only thing separating the two sides one piece of beautiful individual play" Pundit 2 said
"We got the Japanese youth team manager here with us today and he is going to allow us to see exactly what happened there" Pundit 1 said before the camera switched to the tactical board with a video of the highlight.
"Now lets start from the kick. The goalkeeper punts the ball into a very interesting position here for 16 year old Omoi. Omoi reads the flight of the ball perfectly stepping forward momentarily causing the defender to follow" he plays the video and stops where the defender makes contact wih Omoi's back. "Omoi waits for the contact before swiveling catching the defender off guard and running into the space opened. He makes the defender decide because of how direct he is. Then his final product is beautiful" the rest of the clip plays up to the goal.
"Hard to believe his only 16" Pundit one chuckles
"It's truly remarkable, I've never seen anything like it from here in Japan. If this kids keeps his focus he could one day perform at a top level in the top 5 leagues. He has room to grow taller and his physicals and technical are already a lot more sound than they should be" Shinji praised.
The show went into ad break whereafter the second half would commence.
FC TOKYO 1-0 YOKOHAMA FM 45min
"The second half kicks off as the two teams battle for the privilege of lifting the league. 45 minutes left on the clock, can Yokohama claw a result back."
Omoi POV:
30 mins of the match were left, nothing of note had happened thus far in the second half and at this point legs were tired, and subs were bound. Tracking back on defense he pressed the defense. The one-man press was broken, and the ball was switched to the right by the left back. The opposition right back controlled the ball perfectly and whipped in a scrumptious looking ball. The ball fell on the far-post as a midfielder whose run was not tracked connected with the ball, spearing it into our net with venom.
The next 20 mins were tiring as we spent the entire time chasing the ball as we started getting dominated. We had no reprieve, our defenders throwing their bodies in attempts to block. This desperate defending had kept us in the game. The low block and our resilience were starting to frustrate the opponent, if I was patient, they may rush something. Conserving the little energy, I had left I bid my time.
Looking at the time 88:43, the defense had the ball as they looked to build an attack the left sided center-back telegraphed his pass to the right back too much. Watanabe latched onto the ball, immediately turning to give the ball to me. The moment it fell I only had one thing. Driving towards the left center-back I made sure to keep careful measure of my touches. A breakdown here and the result would be in their favor.
I had backed the defender towards the outside of his box, I shifted onto my left foot and feeling the exhaustion I knew I had to release at this exact moment. My left boot wrapped around my boot, striking it with finesse equal to the power. The ball flew into action, I watched with bated breath as the keeper outstretched couldn't get a glove on it. My heart sank to my feet as I watched the balls impending collision with the crossbar. The world stood still for a moment as I gazed praying to kami on the inside.
FC TOKYO 1-1 YOKOHAMA FM 89:30
"Omoi shifts left, wraps his boot around it and…." The crowd became silent, each individual in the stadium anxious. The clang of the crossbar caused many to despair.
"Kami, it hit the crossbar and went in. 16-year-old Omoi scores the game winner from outside the box" The crowd went crazy, the levels of noise raising the roof. Chants of "OMOI! OMOI! OMOI!" were rampant.
The Tokyo planners all ran towards him, on field and bench as the entire team celebrated their potential first league title.
3 minutes later the ref blew for full time and the celebrations went long into the night. Japanese social media raved about their talent, and everyone awaited the next chapter in the young starlets career.
Press Conference
"Omoi, wonderful victory today. What do you think gave your team the winning edge today" Reporter 1.
"We have the best coaching staff in the league. The gaff sent us out there and from the beginning there was only one result, our victory" Omoi answered
"What is the next move for you in your career. 26 goals 13 assists at the age of 16 in topflight football you surely have offers" Reporter 2
"Offers will be considered later after much deliberation but for now I celebrate with my teammates but rest assured the decision I make will be best for my footballing journey as well as lifestyle."
"Last question for you tonight, what do you credit the most to your success this season" Reporter 3
"The way my teammates and manager depended on me, although I'm the rookie they never once made me feel that way"
"Ok that raps everything up, thanks for your time"
Omoi walked off to celebrate with his teammates.
2 Days later
Sat in his apartment, Omoi could only thank kami. His life was difficult but the blessings he had been given saved him. He was in front of his laptop, FL studio open in front of him. Music had always been a big part of his journey, his secret comfort. Not even his close friends knew Omoi made music, he was too nervous to open that up. He learnt English through hip-hop, RnB and all type of American music.
Omoi started off the recording, he was currently on a RnB type beat

We fell in love too fast
And then we watched it all crash
Sent chills down my heart and my spine (yeah-yeah)
But I still want you to be mine
And if I underestimated anything you did for me, yeah
It's 'cause I didn't know, 'cause I didn't know, 'cause I didn't know
That love could feel this good
If I could rewind time, then I'll make you mine
You know if I could then I would, yeah-yeah-yeah (woo)
You know I want you back, I want you back (woo)
'Cause who gon' make me feel this way?
Hearing a knock at his door he stopped the recording. He closed his laptop and went to answer. Opening the door, he was met by Darui, his childhood friend.
Darui let himself in. Observing the laptop on the table. Darui was 3 years older than Omoi but the two had grown up together and Darui had studied marketing to become his agent. Omoi trusted Darui above all others.
Darui had been there for Omoi at all times, he taught him how to talk to girls, get over his first heartbreak. He was essentially the cool older brother he had never had.
"So, you know that we have to consider your options. I have been busy the past two days sorting out proposals and arranging the ones I think would interest you. I have a couple of folders here with me. I will tell you the pros and cons of each offer and in the end, you will get to decide", Omoi nodded as he sat down and looked at the documents before Darui began again
"1st offer is from R.S.C Anderlecht in Belgium. Anderlecht are good at developing talents so from a footballing perspective you should get good training to prepare you for a higher level. Players in the league are often recruited across the top leagues. Cons, you would have to learn a whole new language and there is a young Belgian striker at the club so he might be prioritised ahead of you", Omoi listened to all that was said and moved onto the next offer.
"2nd offer is from RB Salzburg in Austria. Talent factory much the same as Anderlecht. Buy, sell that's the golden formula. Same cons not much more to be said", They moved onto the last offer on the table.
"Now the last offer I got for you is a little bit left field. Pros? More lucrative contract, English is the common language, brand deals. Cons? Very few. How do you feel about getting possibly mentored by THE Zlatan Ibrahimovic. LA Galaxy wants you badly." Darui Finished, leaving Omoi stumped.
Better development vs better opportunities. The decision was surprisingly easy in the end. He could not pass up playing with an Icon like Zlatan. He informed Darui of his decision.
"Good choice and maybe you can start your musical career as well while in the states.", Darui said with a smirk.
"How? I've never told anyone about that.", Omoi said surprised.
"You can hide a lot Omoi but I've been your brother since a kid and I know you better than most", Omoi smiled at that.
"Whatever man, I'll talk to you later, leave me alone to the sweet comfort of my bed", Omoi said with playfulness.
The boys said their goodbyes and as Omoi sat in his bed just thinking about how crazy life had been he allowed himself a breather. 'All for you mother' Omoi drifted off into the warm embrace of sleep.
/Authors Note/
This concludes the first chapter. Omoi off to the city of angels, will he lose himself in the glamour and glitz? Anyway, other characters will be introduced for example Naruto himself. I don't wanna add to many as I want a lot of the Japanese National Team to be IRL
