A/N: Another one of my not-so-good fics. I know my stories suck, but so what? I have fun writing them! That's what really counts, right...? {This story is inspired by a song called 'My Destiny'.}

Summary: Lily Evans has had a bad past and hides herself away from the rest of the Hogwarts population, always keeping to herself. Who can help her get over her past, come out of her shell and face the world?

I Never Thought

~*CHAPTER 1- Just an ordinary day*~

Lily Evans sat on the window ledge of the Astronomy tower and stared out at the grounds below. People were smiling, laughing and joyous. It was the end of all the O.W.L.S. and it was great, because instead of people snapping and shouting at you to shut up, there were people calling and suggesting you to celebrate.

At least I'll be going home soon, Lily thought bitterly. There was nothing in that house of hers, with only her sister there acting like she owned the place (well, she did... sort of...). Her sister, Petunia, spent the whole summer ordering Lily to do her chores. Her mother couldn't do anything about it. She couldn't.

Lily felt tears sting her eyes. Her mother. She had passed away when Lily was about eight or nine, leaving her alone with only her sister. Her father had left the family when she was around three months old. She could hardly remember him. All she knew was that she had inherited her father's emerald eyes.

"... And then I told him to go get me something that looked like that, and he's, totally like, yelling and all that, and so I..." a very faint voice came floating up the stairs. Lily estimated that the person talking was not very far up the stairs and would appear in about five or so minutes.

Lily jerked out of her thoughts and jumped off the window ledge onto the cold stone floor of the tower. She walked quickly to the stone wall that was the farthest from the door and whispered "Mediocre." The wall swung silently to reveal a beautifully furnished room which contained only a desk, two chairs, a window that was invisible to the outside and a piano.

Lily walked into the room and the wall closed behind her. She walked over to the window and leant outside, took a deep breath and muttered a few words in a foreign language. There was an eerie emerald glow from her butterfly shaped pendant on her necklace. She had gotten the necklace from Emerald when it had been summoned and come to power.

She looked out the window again and saw a glowing green, red and gold mix butterfly-like creature flying towards her. The creature looked like it had been carved out from a LOT of emeralds, rubies and topazes. Its wings were perfectly shaped, pointed at the edge and curved on the side. Its body was long and slender and when it flew, it left behind a shimmering trail of green, red and gold which disappeared after a few seconds.

The creature flew into the open window and around the fairly large room before circling the redhead, who was still busy staring out the window. The creature then landed softly on Lily's soft auburn hair. Lily snapped out of her reverie and smiled gently at the creature before letting it fly off her head and onto her finger.

"Hello, Emerald."

A/N: Even if you don't like this story, please please PLEASE review because I really need some advice on my writing. This story's probably better than my other one, but it's still not good. It was worth a try though. I know where this story is going to go, though. It's been planned pretty basically, but I've got the main idea. Cheers!
