Joey got back to the apartment around 8:15am. She went to the sink and
started washing the dishes left over from breakfast.
She chuckled to herself. She and Pacey had been married for eight months he always had to find some way to weasel his way out of washing the dishes. He always said he had to do man things like, sit in the bathroom for an hour, or suddenly have to run out to the store.
She would never really get mad at him, because his excuses were so lame, and she would always force him to do some other chore.
The phone rang and interrupted her thoughts.
"Hello?" It was Pacey. "Hi honey, wher- aren't you on the plane yet?" she asked. "Um, yeah I'm on the plane right now." He answered. "Then how can you-" He interrupted her.
"Joey, His voice got quieter, "I'm in a very bad situation." We have hijackers on the plane."
"Oh my god, Pacey are you alright, what's going on?"
"They have knives, and um, they killed the pilots and now they are flying the plane." He inhaled deeply. "They, they are speaking in another language, um I think it's Arabic." "Um, they are talking about, about crashing the plane." He sniffled. She already had tears flowing down her cheeks. "I don't think I'm gonna make it Joey." He whispered softly.
"I want you to know, that you are the sweetest, kindest, and, gentlest person I have ever known." He was crying softly now. "You always gave me your hand when I fell down."
He sniffled, "I want you to know Joey, how much I care for you and how much I love you." " I will never let anyone hurt you."
She finally spoke, her crying in full force, " Pacey you were always the one for me, I have always loved you." She sniffled. "I will love you forever."
"Joey, He whispered, "I have to go now."
"No, Pacey you can't."
"I will always watch over you Josephine."
" Oh god, Pacey don't call me that." She started crying even harder.
"Goodbye my love." "No, Pacey, stay with me, please Pacey don't-"
"Goodbye Joey" That was the last time she heard his voice.
Now, she stands here on this day and remembers him. Remembers his infectious smile, his Witter charm and good looks, and his adoring heart. Tears came to her eyes as she lay her flowers down on the memorial of American Airlines flight 11.
As the bagpipes started to play, she looked up. Up past the fluffy clouds and sparkling sun. Up to a place that existed with no failure, no suffering, and no hate. She knew he was up there. He was up there at the gates looking down on her, and smiling.
