She was like fine wine, a fine wine that only got better with age. A fine wine that left one longing for more the moment it touched your lips. Her eyes had its own vocabulary, a language that only she could truly understand yet when one took the time to learn that language, the radiance from her happiness would fill the room. Her honesty was her beauty, her intelligence, compassion, bravery, independence and gracefulness was her beauty. She was not a rose, nor a sunflower or any other beautiful thing. No. She was her own beauty, a true beauty. She was as radiant as the sun and he…well he was poison.

Summer had passed and she couldn't quite believe she was ready for another year at Hogwarts, not just any year her 6th year, which also meant her second to last. She wasn't quite sure she was ready to leave it all behind when the time came. As each challenge passed her, she became more passionate, more in love with her life, with her gifts. Hogwarts was her home and in it, her family.

"Hermione!" She heard her name being called and turned to see Harry coming towards her. Smiling big when she saw her friend she walked towards him too.

"Harry!" She said back with just as much enthusiasm before the pair embraced in one another's arms.

"I've missed you. How was your summer?" Harry asked her, as they began walking through the corridors.

"Oh it was lovely. I spent most of it in Cornwall with my parents." She said with a smile and a bit of a bounce in her walk. "Yours?" She asked her friend.

"Same old same old, just glad to be back." He said honestly. She frowned slightly, knowing his time at home wasn't all that great.

"Glad to be back for another year of life threatening challenges." She teased slightly. He cracked a smile and a slight laugh, which was good enough for her.

"It would be nice to get through a year without someone trying to kill me." He laughed, scratching the back of his head awkwardly.

"Well, no matter what. We will do it together." She smiled, reassuring him.

Classes had gone by rather quick and Hermione couldn't wait to get to the library and start her homework and studying. Holding the books to her chest as she walked in the direction of her most favorite place, she had the most beautiful smile on her face. A smile that quickly turned into a scowl when she saw Draco and his group of minions following behind. How that boy could ruin her mood in a matter of seconds. He didn't have to do anything, just being present was all it took to make her cringe from inside out.

She just kept her head low and walked quickly, hoping to avoid him knowing whatever was about to come out of his mouth would be far from pleasant.

"Granger." He called her. "Had a nice summer, Mudblood?" He spat with an awful smirk across his face.

"It's getting boring, Malfoy." She said simply, continuing to walk. He just smirked at her words and watched her walk away as his friends muttered more derogatory terms.

She got in a good hour or two of studying, completely lost in her thoughts and deep in focus. This was where she was most happy but that peace was disturbed by a familiar voice. A voice she wasn't largely fond of.

"Anti-Paralysis potion? What could you possibly need that for?" Malfoy asked, from behind her as he looked down at the potion she was studying.

Hermoine just sighed and rolled her eyes, "It's Hogwarts, anything can happen." She said simply. "It's better to be prepared." She added again, trying to ignore him.

"Care to test it?" He said with a smirk, slumping on the chair next to her with a taunting grin. She scowled at him.

"Absolutely not." She spat before trying to focus once more.

"Why not? Better to be prepared…" He smirked, mocking her.

She groaned in frustration slightly. "You are completely revolting." She said truthfully. Why it stung him slightly he didn't quite know but he played it off.

"Oh come on Granger, you've said more dreadful things to me in the past." He added before taking her book. "I am going to test it, if you want your precious book back you'll just have to come with." He grinned, walking away.

Granger was so frustrated at his actions, knowing he was winding her up to the highest extreme, but he had never gone out of his way to this extent before to bother her.

"Malfoy!" She called to him, following him into the dungeons where the potions classroom was located, close to Slytherin's common rooms. "We cannot be here after hours." She told him, standing in the doorway hesitant to come in.

"Have you ever had a little fun?!" He asked with an eye roll, gathering the things he needed to make the potion. She sighed slightly, was hesitant for a moment before finally heading inside with him. She went to stand next to him and watch him combine the ingredients to make the potion. He was actually pretty good at this, she hadn't paid much attention to his actual abilities as a wizard before. It was safe to say she was impressed, really impressed.

"It's 4oz of Moondew." She said softly, seeing that he had only poured in 3. He looked at her and smirked to her slightly, "Little miss knows it all, want a go?" He grinned, stepping aside. She quickly grabbed the stirrer.

"You are not supposed to stop stirring." She told him, quickly stirring. "Look, it says Immediately stir Moondew into the cauldron and wait for the thick cloud of steam to dissipate. You cannot just stop stirring otherwise it won't work." she said simply. She was so annoying but admirable.

"You are far too serious." he said simply, folding his arms before watching her.

After a few moments it was done. "Alright, done." She said softly.

"So, let's test it." Malfoy said simply looking at her.

"On what exactly?" She asked, looking around and seeing no living creatures. She still couldn't quite believe that he was the one she was doing this with and wasn't sure of his intentions either. It was too late to leave the castle.

"We could always try it on your disgusting cat." He said with a grin. She was rather offended.

"No. Not a chance." She said firmly. "Perhaps we could try it on that foul ferret of yours." She said rather cocky, flicking her eyebrow at him. "Or better yet, you." She said simply, folding her arms.

He just laughed, "You have got to be joking."

"Do I appear to be joking?" She asked simply. He rolled his eyes at her words.

"If this doesn't work Granger, I will sue you." He said simply.

"I think I'm going to enjoy this." She smirked, taking out her wand. Malfoy simply took a deep breath as he watched her get ready. Why he trusted her he didn't know…well he did, she was one of the best witches of their generation. "Petrificus Totalus." She said softly, casting the spell on him and seeing him stiffen up. He felt it, he couldn't move, he was stuck and on the floor. He could breath and could move his eyes but nothing more. "I could just leave you like this, you know? You have tormented me for years." She said with a grin as she stood over him. He managed to roll his eyes slightly and if he could express his frustration to her he would. She chuckled softly, before grabbing the potion, bending down and lifting his head slightly to allow him to drink the potion. Holding him slightly once it was all gone, she looked into his eyes for the first time and felt something rather strange. Clearing her throat slightly, she stood back up to tidy away the things knowing any trace of them being in here after hours would certainly get them in serious trouble.

After what felt like forever, Malfoy was able to move and talk again. Standing up, he shook it off and let out a groan. "We are never doing that again."

"It was your idea." She said simply. As he was about to reply, they heard a door open and flinched slightly. Instantly, he took her head and dragged her to find somewhere to hide. It just so happened to be a tight closet. Bodies pressed together, she could feel his breath on his as they kept quiet so they would not be caught. She allowed her eyes to follow his slightly, he couldn't help but smile at the glimmer in her eyes as the small bit of light shone through the crack on them. She felt his hand on her hip slightly, not that he had much choice there was literally not room to put it. It was warm, comforting. She watched as he kept checking through the crack of the door to see if the coast was clear and when it was, they both stepped out, sharing a look before laughing together. A bonding moment neither of them would share with anyone else.

She was like fine wine and he was poison…or was he.
