"Again."

Vergil ordered.

Griffon instantly shot upwards at his command, using his wings to launch a powerful gust of wind forward.

"How long are you gonna keep making him repeat that?"

Dawn asked, preoccupied with training her Chimchar. Dante was also close by, training Beowulf different punches and kicks

"Until he is string enough that he knocks me off my feet."

Vergil said back, ordering Griffon to repeat his wing attack again

"You do realize this is as strong as he can get right now, right? For him to knock you off your feet, you're going to need to evolve him."

Dawn said. Vergil thought for a moment before ordering Griffon to stop. Sending him back into his Pokeball.

"How goes your training, Dante?"

Vergil asked. Turning to his brother to be meet with a strange sight. Dante was... Boxing with Beowulf?

"You do realize he will fight other Pokémon. Not you. Right brother?"

Vergil said. Dante just looked at him and chuckled

"Oh I know that. I'm just teaching him some moves Beowulf would actually do."

Just as he said that, said Pokémon spun around with and followed it with an uppercut, knocking Dante to the ground

"Not bad, little guy! You're pretty good."

He recalled Beowulf. Everyone's training had been completed. So they decided to continue on their journey back to Jubilife City so they could head to the Oreburgh gym and challenge it. Then, Dawn realized something, and turned to the brothers

"Do you guys even have a trainer card?"

They both looked at each other

"We need a license to enter the gym?"

Vergil asked. Already knowing the answer.

"Yeah, unfortunately. So, here's the plan. You two get your cards, I'll beat the gym."

Vergil and Dante nodded and they continued on their way to Jubilife.

After Dawn had departed for Oreburgh. Dante and Vergil headed to the customs office to get registered. As they were in the waiting lobby, Dante felt extremely bored, so he tried striking up some conversation

"So. Where do you reckon the Yamato and The Devil Sword Dante went?"

Vergil was actually impressed his brother asked an intelligent question for once. But he didn't know, so he just shrugged. Although... He looked back on it. They were transported here at the right age to become a trainer. They found Dawn in the forest. They lost their weapons. And they caught Pokémon relatively easily. It felt... Too convenient. It felt like there was something else at play here. And he *will* figure it out.

After getting their official trainer cards. The twins headed out of the gym and tried making their way towards Oreburgh. But they found their way blocked by some costumed weirdos harassing an old man.

"C'mon Professor Rowan. Make this easy for us, would'ja?"

One of the two goons said.

Rowan? Vergil recognized that name. He saw a news broadcast about him back in the Poke centre. Figures that they'd go after a defenseless old man. So Vergil stepped right in between the two parties, brandishing his Pokeball

"Make this easy for me. Stand down, you are hardly worth the trouble."

Vergil said, glaring at them. The grunts glared back

"Who does this kid think he is? We ought to show you that you do not mess with Team Galactic!"

Dante stood by his brother's side. Now they were on equal terms

"The Name's Dante. And that's Vergil. Remember em!"

Dante said, sending out Beowulf. Vergil did the same, quickly ordering Griffon to use a wing attack as the grunts sent out their own pair of Pokémon. One which resembled a bird with brown feathers, and another a blue frog that was standing upright. Initially, the brothers had the grunts on the backfoot due to their superior knowledge of their Pokémon's movesets and teaming up to create devastating combos. But as they the fight continued, the grunt ordered the blue toad not to attack Beowulf. But to attack Dante. The thing leaped at him and punched twice in the chest before leaping on top of him. Vergil felt his heart sink as Rowan rushed over to check up on him

'They hurt him...'

Beowulf became enraged, charging at the Pokémon and instantly knocking it out with 5 furious blows.

'They hurt my brother..'

The grunts stepped back, not anticipating their sudden loss of a Pokémon. Vergil turned to them. If they attacked Dante... He would attack them, he ordered Beowulf to attack the brown bird belonging to the other grunt. The Mankey obeyed, easily knocking it out with Griffon's help. The grunts scowled

"You may have beat us this time! But Mark my words! Team Galactic will-"

The grunt found himself interrupted when Vergil gave a single order to Griffon...

"Slice him."

Griffon flew forward. Digging his talons into the grunt's skin. Beowulf joined in, attacking the other grunt. He would make them suffer for what they did. No one would take away his brother again, not even these pathetic morons. Vergil finally snapped out of his rage when he heard his brother's voice call out to him

"Vergil, stop!"

In an instant. Griffon and Beowulf also stopped to look. Dante was being supported by Rowan, his other arm was clutching his chest. Griffon's talons were at one of the grunt's throats. And it was only then that Vergil realized the gravity of the situation... He was going to murder someone, he instantly recalled the two pokemon. He had nearly squandered the second chance he'd been granted... How could he be so... Foolish?! He looked at the terrified grunts, cowering on the ground. A burning hatred still coursed through him, but he couldn't give in

"Go. Fly back beneath your mother's skirts."

They both took off. Just as Dawn traveled the same path. She rushed towards them as soon as she saw Dante, frantically looking between Vergil, then Rowan, then Dante.

"What happened?!"

She asked, she didn't expect to come back to this! Especially after her first gym victory!

"Team Galactic. They Hurt my brother..."

Vergil said, looking down in shame. He had failed to protect him... Just like when they were children.

Vergil was worried. He never thought he'd ever admit it. But he was worried. They had admitted Dante to the Jubilife hospital, and they had told him he had two broken ribs and several bruises. He would stay there for a couple days, and so Vergil would stay in the waiting area until then. He didn't care that it sounded ridiculous, he wouldn't leave without his brother. He took notice of Dawn entering and sitting down beside him, and avoiding eye contact. She was worried as well, it seemed. But not for the same reason

"Professor Rowan told me everything that happened..."

She said, he already knew what was about to come next

"I understand you were angry. But you nearly killed a man. Don't you think-"

Vergil interrupted her

"No. They hurt the one person in this world I had left. They nearly took away the only thing I care about. If it were up to me, I would kill them one thousand times over..."

Dawn looked at him. She was more angry than he'd ever seen her before

"You don't mean that. You were just scared for your brother. You wouldn't actually kill someone, would you?"

He thought about it. The old him would have answered "Yes" without any hesitation. But now... He wasn't so sure.

"I guess not... You're free to go on without me. I'll wait until Dante is discharged."

The angry expression on her face melted away, now replaced by relief.

"I'm not going anywhere. I'll wait as well. I owe him that much, besides..."

She lightly jabbed him in the arm

"Where would I go without my teammates?"

She said with a grin.

'Teammates'

He thought. They were all a team? He surprisingly didn't hate it. Perhaps... He was looking forward to it?
