The moonlight hugged the Boiling Isles in its soft and gentle glow, comforting its residents after a long and tough day. It was the middle of the night, with many of the residents of Bonesborough resting comfortably, sound asleep in their homes.

Once such home sat on the edge of the forest, commonly known by all as the Owl House, a home belonging to the wildest witch of them all, Eda Clawthorne, her adoptive son King Clawthorne, and her basically adoptive daughter, Luz the human. The home was currently quieter than a mouse, with all its occupants sound asleep in their separate rooms and beds.

It was so quiet that, should anyone have been awake this late at night, they could clearly hear the faint creaking noise of the front door gently opening and closing as a figure hidden in the shadows walked inside. The figure tiptoed towards and up the stairs, maneuvering down the hallway like a bandit before approaching and opening the bedroom door.

Kevin opened the door to his room, looking like death with how exhausted he appeared to be. His hair was a mess, clothes covered in dirt and grime, and under his eyes was a sea of dark purple, with several bags there as well. He trudged into his room, barely managing to close his door before falling onto his bed, tired as can be. His body felt heavy, like it was encased in solid concrete and sinking to the bottom of the ocean.

Two months had passed since the events of the forest, with storming Hunter's castle and rescuing Luz. Those involved made great strives to move on and continue with their lives.

Gus and Willow had seemed fine physically and mentally wise, the therapist that he had paid to keep everything quiet, was doing wonders for both of them.

Luz and Amity were… more in need of help, and Kevin was making sure they got it; he knew how it felt getting tortured and almost dying. Therapy was helping a lot, but spending time with one another was seemingly the best thing the two could be doing right now. On occasion, they each had nightmares from that day, and they could be jumpy at times, but overall they were fine and getting better. That just left Kevin who had been… keeping himself busy, to say the least. He had just returned home from another nightly patrolling, the 30th one in a row, and still he came up empty handed. But that was okay, now he could close his eyes and enjoy some much deserved-

Bzzt. Bzzt. Bzzt.

His eyes snapped open and he looked down, staring at his cellphone as it buzzed and glowed to life. He hissed quietly in annoyance and grabbed it, turning it on and peering at the message that popped up on his screen.

?: We're ready for you

A message that would be cryptic to many, but Kevin knew who it was from and what it meant, he just wished it took a while longer so he could've gotten more than a literal moment of slumber. He groaned and got up, scratching at his head before getting off his bed and grabbing new clothes before getting dressed. He grabbed his phone and exited the room, going to knock on Luz's to check up on her before a note caught his attention.

I didn't want to disturb you, I'm over at Amity's since her parents aren't home. Don't wait up! :)

Signed- Luz Noceda 3

PS: WE AREN'T DOING WHAT YOU THINK WE'RE DOING!

Signed- Amity Blight

Kevin snorted at the last part, it helped raise his mood if ever so slightly. Not having to worry about those two, Kevin turned and went down the stairs before exiting the house. He looked around, making sure the coast was clear and that Hooty was still sound asleep before the ground swallowed him whole

(East side of the Boiling Isles)

In a trip that would take most people one, perhaps even two hours to make on foot, or about 30 minutes by staff, Kevin arrived in just a few short minutes by traveling underground. He popped up through the ground and dusted himself off before taking a few more steps, pushing his way past some bushes before finally arriving at his destination; an old, rundown cabin in the middle of absolute nowhere. The cabin appeared as though no living being had lived in it for years; it was old, missing several pieces and had cardboard taped over the broken windows, the walls were covered in graffiti and mystery fluids. Kevin approached, placing his hand on the doorknob but didn't use it; instead a faint red light emitted from it and scanned his prints before turning blue, causing the door to open and allowing Kevin inside.

The inside wasn't much better compared to the outside: broken glass littered the ground, stains could be seen on the ground, walls, and even the ceiling, trash bags sat in the room corners, and the ceiling even had a few holes in it. But Kevin paid no heed or mind to the blemashies, instead he walked towards the wall from across the door and got to work. The wall had countless small holes in it, one would think it was from a weapon or attack of some kind, but they weren't. Kevin carefully inserted a different finger into each hole like it was almost a second nature to him, and each wall hole did as the doorknob did. Turning on with a faint red before turning blue after verifying each print. After doing so about 16 times a larger hole appeared in the wall, prompting Kevin to put his eye up to it for it to scan. After that another hole opened before the eye scanner and a miniature microphone popped out.

"Kilo Echo Victor India November," he recited into the microphone, causing a ding sound to happen before all the holes closed up. A crack appeared down the middle of the wall before opening, revealing an elevator with a clone inside.

"Welcome back, Prime." One nodded towards his creator as Kevin walked into the elevator and stood beside him. One pressed a button, causing the elevator to close and start to descend. "He hasn't been awake for long. We have him in a room right now waiting for you, none of us have touched him," One reported, causing Kevin to nod.

"I do wish you would've just knocked him out again. I'm exhausted," Kevin yawned, causing One to stare at him with slight concern; Prime looked more worse for wear than usual. The stare ended once the elevator came to a stop and the doors opened.

Kevin and One walked into a giant room, filled with different machines and devices, with clones throughout the area doing different things. Some were furiously typing away at their computers, some were talking and discussing maps and different locations on them, some were busy trying to decrypt and read the ancient languages of this new land. Kevin and One started walking through the giant room, some clones would turn and salute their leader while others stayed working.

It took a while, and it was difficult to do without getting caught, but Kevin and his clones managed to sneak enough human technology into the Demon Realm without detection and created this base of operations. The perfect place for Kevin and his clones to continue their duties in secrecy.

"As you can see, we've been hard at work trying to track down any and all leads we have on Hunter and what his plans may be. We've searched the forests, oceans, even the skies. Currently we only have one good lead," One said as he brought Kevin to another clone, 23.

"Prime, Alpha team is currently in position and ready to move in on their objective. They just need the greenlight," 23 said after removing the headset from his head.

"They have the greenlight, just tell them to be careful and return in one piece," Kevin ordered, causing 23 to nod and place his headset back on.

"Alpha team, come in Alpha team. Overlord has given the greenlight. Your mission is a go," 23 spoke into his microphone as Kevin and One walked away.

"What's the success rate of their mission?" Kevin asked as One opened a door for him, allowing the two to enter a long hallway.

"Our analysts are predicting a 98% success rate. We have teams on standby should there be any… complications," One informed as he and Kevin approached a thick metal door. Another clone, 66, met them at the door while pushing a cart of various tools and objects. 66 handed Kevin a clipboard, just as the human let out another long, tired yawn.

"Let's get this over with," he muttered as One opened the door for them. Kevin and 66 walked into a pure white room, with a bright light hanging overhead and a metal table bolted to the ground. On one side of the table was a cushioned chair, on the other side sat a witch in a cold and hard metal chair, his hands cuffed to each other and legs cuffed to the chair; a window was placed behind him. The witch wore a white hood with a gold triangle holding the two sides together, a bird mask sat next to him on the table. "Welcome to hell," Kevin greeted as he tossed the clipboard onto the table and sat down in the comfortable chair. "You don't wanna be here and neither do I, just tell me what I wanna know and we'll let you go," Kevin explained as he clicked his tongue and stared down at the board. "Firstly, how long have you worked for Hunter? Or, did you start out under Belos and just switch employers once Belos, ya know, died?" Kevin asked. The witch said nothing, opting to just staring down at the table and not meeting Kevin's gaze, causing the human to sigh. "66."

66 understood the message as he picked up a piece of metal off the cart and placed it over his knuckles. He grabbed the witch by his hair, making him look up at Kevin before punching him square in the cheek, pulling hair out as he knocked him and the chair down with a heavy and metallic thud. The witch groaned in pain as 66 sat him back up and in the same position, he again grabbed him by the hair and waited.

"Same question. How long have you worked for Hunter? Or, did you start with Belos?" Kevin asked, and again the witch said nothing. Kevin shook his head and sighed, he snapped his fingers and watched as 66 punched the witch in the other cheek, sending him flying down to the ground again. "This is just gonna get more painful the longer you hold out. Same question," Kevin repeated as 66 sat the witch back up. Instead of looking down, the witch instead spit at Kevin, landing a bloodied loogie on Kevin's cheek. The human wiped off the spit with a look of disdain before looking at the witch with a more serious gaze; the witch almost instantly regretted what he had done. "If you won't talk, we'll simply… pry your mouth open." He snapped his fingers again.

66 nodded and placed the brass knuckles onto the cart before grabbing a pair of pliers. He snipped them together while approaching the witch, and Kevin watched with boredom and a yawn as 66 forced the pliers into the witch's mouth and latched onto a tooth. Kevin hummed to himself as he drummed his fingers on the table, listening to the witch's screams as 66 got to work. He watched as 66 pulled out a tooth amidst the screams and placed it onto the cart, causing the witch huff and sniffle from the pain. "So?"

"H-Hunter. I started with Hunter. About 10 months," the witch finally admitted, causing Kevin to smile.

"There we go, now we're talking. Now, do you have a family? Do they know what you do?"

"W-Why would you want to know that?" the witch asked, before jumping at the sound of the pliers snapping. "A-A wife and two kids. T-They don't know, they think I'm part of the Construction coven. L-Last thing I told them that I had to leave for a while for some big project."

"Perfect, perfect," Kevin muttered while tching and staring at the clipboard. "What was your ranking when it came to Hunter's guards and minions? What is it you do?"

"L-Low rank, sometimes I'd go out and gather things he wanted, or needed."

"Such as?"

"Animals he wanted to experiment on, different roots and herbs he wanted to try and use for potions, old books that taught magic that Belos banned, stuff like that, I swear!" the witch answered in hurry, causing Kevin to nod.

"Would you be willing and able to give us a list of the stuff you remember?" Kevin asked, rubbing his eyes to stay awake.

"I-I can try." He gulped, feeling the eyes of 66 burning a hole into his soul.

"Good, very good. Now, what was Hunter planning? Why did he want Luz?" Kevin asked, more serious than before as he clasped his hands together and stared at the witch. "Be warned, this is a serious question. Failure to comply will result in an equally serious punishment. I would answer truthfully, 66 is itching to try out his other toys."

"I-I don't know! None of us did! He would always go on and on, ranting about the human girl! H-He said he needed her blood. He took some when we captured her, but didn't want to take everything so she wouldn't die. He wanted as much blood from her as possible, that's all I know! I swear on my children's life!" the witch pleaded for mercy, causing Kevin to purse his lips in thought.

'Why would he want or need Luz's blood? A magic spell, perhaps?'

"Alright, I guess this is good enough for now." Kevin stood up and made his way towards the door. "Stay here… as if you had a choice," he mumbled as he and 66 left the room, ignoring the witch's cries of protest. As they came out, so did One from the next room over; he was watching through the window the entire time. "66 set up the neuralyzer room, erase the past 10 months of his memory and knock him out again. Bring him to the hospital and say he got into a construction accident, don't need his family knowing what he's been up to… or what we did to him," Kevin ordered while handing 66 his clipboard, causing the clone to nod and salute before dashing off to complete his assignment.

"Well, at least we got something out of him. That's a victory in my books," One commented, trying to lighten the mood.

"What number was that?" Kevin asked as he and One started back towards the main operations room.

"Um, that was number 50, sir," One said hesitantly while opening the door for Kevin. The two entered the main room before Kevin stopped, an exasperated sigh leaving him.

"50? Fucking 50?" Kevin asked, scratching at his head in irritation. "We've interrogated 50 witches and only two of them gave us any decent intel? Are you kidding me?" he shouted, causing all operations to cease. "That isn't good enough! Hunter is still out there plotting who knows what! Get me more witches, I want this fucker found and-" Kevin stopped his ranting, legs shaking and buclking under his weight until he fell to one knee. He started coughing violently, dry heaving as he coughed up blood onto the ground.

"Sir! Sir, are you okay?" One asked as he knelt down beside Kevin.

"F-Fine. I-I'm f-f-fine," Kevin heaved even as he choked on his own blood. He snapped his fingers, prompting two clones to run up towards him. Kevin absorbed the two, a faint blue light surrounded the human boy, causing him to sigh in relief. He attempted to stand but couldn't, causing One to help him to his feet.

"Sir, you need rest. You've been running yourself ragged lately: you're staying up at ungodly hours doing recon, dealing with school, helping out your friends, and so on and so forth! When was the last time you slept for more than 30 minutes? Or ate? Or… bathed?" One asked, causing Kevin to roll his eyes and detach himself from his clone.

"I'll be okay! Now, I want some of you to look through old magic books, see if there's anything about using human blood. Then I want some of you… to…" Kevin started to say before falling backwards, crashing onto the ground in an unmoving heap.

"SIR!" One shouted as he knelt next to Kevin as the others ran towards them.

(30 minutes later)

Kevin's eyes fluttered open and he groaned as he sat up, noticing several tubes that had been inserted into his arm. He was in a new room, the infirmary to be exact, where the clones would bring their prisoners of war after interrogation to patch them up and heal them. He started to carefully remove the IV tubes and needles from his arm, even after the door to the infirmary had opened.

"How long was I out?" Kevin asked as One entered his room.

"30 minutes. Truth be told I'm halfway tempted to knock you out again," One said, causing Kevin to chuckle. "Seriously sir… you need rest."

"The mission-"

"Doesn't matter if you die from sleep deprivation, and the rest of us go poof," One cut him off, causing Kevin to huff in annoyance. "How do you expect to keep the others safe when you can barely stand? I'm begging you, please, go home, or better yet, go to Boscha, spend time with her and get some rest. You need it more than anything right now. We can hold the fort down until you return," One pleaded, trying to be calm and understanding with his creator. Kevin merely sighed and stood up, his legs still wobbling slightly until he straightened himself out.

"Okay, okay, I hear you. I'll go see her and spend some time with her in order to relax. But I better get some good news once I'm done," Kevin said as One opened the door for him.

"Enjoy your time, sir. But, don't have too much fun," One joked, causing Kevin to flip him off as the elevator doors closed. One sighed once Kevin was gone and checked the time.

Why hadn't they heard anything from Alpha team yet?
