When Ember opened her eyes, her first thought was: "Where am I?"

She felt a jostling as if someone was carrying her. Another thing she noticed was that all her wounds from the battle with that Deku Scrub were healed.

Ember looked around and realized that she was floating inside a large bottle, big enough for her to move around freely. She could see through the wall that contained Ember inside the bottle. Whoever was carrying her was running through the Lost Woods. She could hear the creature panting.

For some reason, everything outside of her bottle had grown twice their original size. She then realized that she had been shrunk down so that she could fit in a regular human bottle.

Ember's thoughts went back to the battle she had with the Deku Scrub, and the person in the shadows. That was a human. A human had captured her!

Ember growled and tried to attack the wall of the bottle, but she could not summon the usual energy she used in battle.

"How dare you capture me!" she growled in rage as she tackled the wall with as much force as she could muster.

"Ah, you're awake." said a loud voice from above Ember. "Cool! I have my first Zeldamon!"

Ember looked up to see a human boy about the age of eleven staring down back at her. He had blue eyes and blond hair, and he was wearing a green cloth on top of his head.

"Wow, what even are you? I was waiting to find a rare one and here you are! My Dekudex says that you have Flame typing!" The boy said excitedly. "You're gonna fight with me, and we are going to adventure Hyrule together! And I think I'll name you Ember!"

Ember sighed and said: "That's already my name."

Suddenly, she felt a pull and energy coursed through her body. She felt herself leave the weird bottle and then she suddenly felt the ground again.

She was in front of the boy, who was bending down and looking at Ember. He had a green tunic with lots of empty bottles, and upon his back was a sword and a shield.

"You're even cooler up close!" exclaimed the boy. "Hi. My name's Link. I'm from Kokiri Village."

Ember growled at him and opened her mouth to burn the boy up.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa." said Link, putting his hands in front of his face. "I just want to be friends!"

Ember stopped her attack and looked back at Link.

"Thank you, Ember." sighed Link. "I'm sorry I took you from your home… but I had to get a Zeldamon. Or else I wouldn't be able to survive out there. Please understand."

Ember thought about this. She probably couldn't survive in this forest by herself, and she definitely could not go back to the mountains she once lived in. Even though it was only about a day ago, it felt like it was an eternity. She realized that the best option for her was to go with Link.

"Alright," said Ember. "I'll be your partner, Link."

Even though Link could not understand Ember's words, he was able to understand that she agreed to be with him. A large grin appeared on his face as he got up and started walking along the path they were on.

Ember slithered after him as the pair trekked through the Lost Woods, making sudden turns and going through specific hollowed out logs.

Link stopped and pointed at a particularly long log and said: "That tunnel leads to Kokiri Village, but I've never been on it because you need to be accompanied by a monster like you."

A larger human stood guard to the log and looked up from his red glowing thing when he heard Link and Ember approaching.

"Hullo, Link." greeted the guard. "Looks like your adventure in the Lost Woods has given you a reward. I've never seen that snake thing before. What is it?"

"I'm not an 'it'," growled Ember. "I'm a her."

"Uh…" Link said, pulling out his own red glowing thing. "let me check."

"Feisty little thing." mumbled the guard as Ember growled at him.

Link touched the red glowing thing and pointed it at Ember. Ember flinched and braced herself.

"Don't worry Ember," assured Link. "It's a Dekudex. A gadget designed by a professor who specializes in Zeldamon. It can identify Zeldamon and do other cool things like capture images in time! It won't hurt a bit."

There was a beeping sound that came from the Dekudex as Link pressed a button on it.

"She's a Baby Dodongo." said Link. "She has Flame typing, and her final form also has Mountain typing."

"Good. You can pass through."

The log seemed to be incredibly long. They finally saw the exit after thirty minutes of walking.

They walked out into the open, and Ember gasped in awe.

Trees covered the clearing, and humans were living there. The clearing was covered by an overhang of branches, and little fairy lights floated through the air. A river winded through the human village, and a large tree looked protectively over the whole thing. Markings on it made it look like it had a face.

Ember knew from stories what it was. The Great Deku Tree.

Ember and Link descended into the village, where Zeldamon and humans greeted them.

"Hey, you." a voice called from behind her.

Both Link and Ember turned around to see a boy about Links age walking up to them.

"Heh, Link." said the boy.

"Hello Mido." said Link.

"Looks like you finally have a monster guard," Mido sneered. "a slimy one. Definitely looks weak. What's it called?"

Ember realized that there was a creature in one of the bottles on Mido's belt. She looked up at Mido and growled.

"She's a she, and she's a Baby Dodongo," Link answered. "Her name's Ember."

"A Baby Dodongo?" laughed Mido. "Even the name sounds weak!"

Link and Ember both growled at Mido.

"I'll destroy you, worm." growled Ember as she opened her mouth to send out a wave of flame.

Mido stepped back, surprised and a little scared.

"Ember, wait!" yelled Link.

Ember obeyed and closed her mouth, but kept her eyes on Mido.

"Y-yes," Mido sneered. "Keep your baby worm back. I'll just rip it to pieces with my sword."

He grasped the hilt of his sword, which was lying near his hip.

"How about we settle this with a battle." Link growled.

"I agree. I have the perfect place." Mido sneered as he turned tail and ran.

Link and Ember kept up with Mido as they raced across Kokiri Village.

They finally came to a stop in front of a flat, hard surface with markings painted on it. Ember noticed burns and cracks with what seemed to be from previous battles.

Link beckoned for Ember to follow him as he made his way to one end of the pavement.

Mido went to the other side of it.

"Mido, I challenge you to a Zeldamon battle!" Link said. "Ember, get onto the feild, please."

Ember felt heat fill her body as she got ready to fight whatever creature Mido had in his bottle.

Mido grabbed the bottle with a monster in it and popped the cork off. Energy flowed from the bottle and took shape in front of Ember. It looked like Lorry, but it did not have hands or eye stalks.

"Alright Deku Baba," called Mido. "Bite!"

"Fangs of Darkness!" growled the Deku Baba as its teeth glowed with Shadow energy.

It lunged forward and Ember quickly got out of the way.

"Alright, Ember!" called Link. "Try your Explosion Tackle! That would do some impressive damage."

"Vine Whip!" Mido yelled. "Attack the worm while Link's giving orders!"

The Deku Babas hands lengthened and filled with Forest energy as it whipped them forward, crashing them down on Ember. Ember winced as she felt the Forest energy strike her, but she quickly squirmed forward.

She started to build up heat inside of her, and she let out a little explosion to hurl her forwards, and then she readied another explosion for impact. The Deku Baba attempted to guard itself by raising its leaf hands, but that would not stop Ember.

She smashed into the Deku Baba, and released the explosion right there. The hard scales and the extra Flame energy boosted explosion was too much for the Deku Baba, who slumped to the ground and was sucked back into the bottle.

Ember felt a sense of victory as she looked upon Mido's startled face.

"How was I supposed to know your worm was a Flame type!" shrieked Mido as he stormed off into the village.

"Great job, Ember!" congratulated Link. "I did not know you could pack such an explosive punch!"

Ember felt pride and was a little embarrassed at Link's statement.

"Yeah," said Ember. "That win makes up for the damage. Mido's expression was priceless!"

Link understood that Ember was excited.

"Looky here, Ember," Link called as he pointed at a large scorch mark in the place that Mido's Deku Baba once stood. "Your battle will be forever etched on this field until they replace it with something."

Ember nodded and smiled. She felt like she made a good decision to become Link's monster guard.
