Ryou Bakura whimpered in pain as his merciless yami kicked him repeatedly
in the chest. "Maybe that will teach you to disobey me in the future." He
growled before disappearing into the Ring.
The pale teen couldn't find the strength to sit up so he just led there in his own blood. He faintly heard the door opening, someone gasping then yelling at someone to call an ambulance. But it was all far away. Too far away.
"I have a theory, Kat-chan."
Suddenly, Ryou found himself in a lush garden filled with roses of every colour. There was a swing to his left covered in bright silver, light blue and lavender roses. In front of him was a long lawn covered in lush green grass. A blanket was near the middle with two girls with feathery wings sitting on it. Neither of them seemed to notice that a pale haired teenage boy had just landed near them.
The first girl had blonde hair that tumbled down her back in beautiful waves and her wings were pale purple with hints of black. Her sparkly blue eyes resting on a single black rose in her hand. "About what, Kura-chan?" She said, twirling the rose in her fingers. This girl wore a purple tank top with buckles for straps and black shorts. Her nails were painted silver.
The second girl had lovely pale orange wings and ginger curls, her warm brown eyes shining. "About why Ryou and the other hikari's keep getting beaten up in all of those fics." Sakura, this girl, wore an orange t-shirt and pink jeans. Both girls were bare footed.
Ryou was startled about the two girls talking about him and his friends. He didn't know where he was but this was what he kinda did picture heaven to be like. And with the girls having wings, were they angels? Was he dead? Maybe that's why they were talking about him.
"What is it then?" The blonde girl asked, taking her gaze away from the black rose and looking at the orange winged angel.
"Yeah, why do they keep getting tortured?" A leopard spotted cat by the blonde spoke up. Ryou didn't notice it before but it was very pretty.
"Quiet, Artemis. You know Sakura takes her time just to bloody annoy us." The blonde glared.
"Katzi, temper." Sakura teased. The blonde just glared at her.
"Just get on with it." She growled.
"Alright!" Sakura raised her hands in defence. "Well my theory is that they're too pure, too innocent. Know what I mean?"
"Yeah." Katzi nodded, "But I've never written a hikari torture fic, so I don't know really why authors or authoresses are mean to them."
Sakura nodded too, "Neither have I but maybe they think that they are too pure and need to be tainted up. Darkened a bit."
"Don't need much of that then for Malik, ne?" Katzi smirked.
"I guess not."
"Ryou?! Ryou?! You alright Ryou!" Came a panicked voice. When Ryou opened his eyes he was looking directly into Yugi's amethyst ones. "You okay Ryou?"
"I had the weirdest dream." Ryou nearly whispered as Yugi helped him sit up. "There were these to angel girls, one with blonde hair and the other with ginger, and they were talking about us in a garden full of roses and a talking cat."
"That does sound like a weird dream Ryou. But I'm sure it was just your unconscious state doing something." Yugi smiled gently.
"Yeah, probably." The bearer of the Ring muttered, looking away from Yugi.
~
"I wonder if he'll ever find peace, or will Bakura just beat the shit out of him until he bleeds to death?"
The voice of the black and purple winged angel sounded through his head as Ryou was rushed through the hospital doors on a stretcher, Yugi and his friends watching fearfully.

Bit sad, ne? I read 'Theory of Innocence' by someone who I can't remember and it just made me sad. So I wrote this. It's sorta like 'Theory of Innocence' but not quite.
Whoever wrote 'Theory of Innocence', this is dedicated to you!
