Moments of Truth
The Devil's child ~
Duo brought his bed sheets up to his nose. His eyes stung with hot tears and he tried not to let them out.
'Why?' He thought, 'Why does it have to be this way?'
The memories of the church dawned on him. The ones closest to him . . . gone. They loved him and all he did was pout and complain. It was his fault that they died! God was punishing him! Punishing him for being evil!
He was the devil's child! He was the devil's own child!
Duo wailed in agony, his heart aching starved of love, comfort and recognition. 'Why? Why am I the devil's child?'
Tears rolled down his face and onto his pillow. Hours passed. Duo had cried himself to sleep. The morning sun drifted into the bedroom window, the light creating a holy figure. She cradled Duo's head in her lap.
