Bomb Squad

"This looks familiar," came a monotonous comment.

"Stuff it, Yuy. You know exactly what happened here." Zechs was not happy. This was the seventh bomb of this kind. No trace of who planted it was left. The only trademark sign left was a small, undecipherable symbol.

A flash near the edge of the scene brought him out of his musings.

"Who is that," he demanded.

"Don't know. I'll go find out," Duo responded as he started to climb over the rubble towards the cameraperson. As he got closer he could see a little more. It was a tall, willowy girl with blonde hair, which was obviously died because it was vibrant yellow.

"Can I help you," he asked.

"Smile," she said as she quickly refocused the camera on him.

A bright flash temporally blinded him. When all the spots had disappeared, the girl gave him a brilliant smile.

"Penelope Gears, photographer for the Daily Tribute." She brought her voice down to a whisper, "I also do a little reporting on my own," her voice went back to normal, "So, you are," she asked as she pulled a small notepad out of her jacket.

"Duo Maxwell."

"Good, very good," she muttered under her breath. "Could you tell me what happened here?"

"No."

"No? Why not? The bomb squad doesn't have anything to hide, does it?"

Duo gritted his teeth. "No. Let me go get the captain." He stalked away from the nosy child as he tried to calm down. 'Let the captain deal with her. It's his job to talk to the reporters.' "Captain, we got us a small problem."

"What? Do you think that I don't have enough problems that you have to give me more," he joked gently.

"Penelope Gears, photographer and reporter extraordinaire. She's asking questions. Asked if the squad had anything to hide. Have fun, cap. I am going back to work." Duo quickly made a retreat from the captain's area.

Zechs swore heavily under his breath before putting on a genuine smile and going over to talk to Miss Penelope Gears.

"Hello. May I help you?"

"Yes," she smiled broadly. "Penelope Gears, Daily Tribute. Could you tell me what happened, Captain..."

"Marquise. And yes I can. A bomb exploded. Anything else?

"Yes. Is this bombing related to any of the others that have happened recently? Any connection?"

"A very slight connection. We can find no clues as to who did this whatsoever at each of these bombings."

"Really. How intriguing. Nothing at all?"

He stopped and thought for a minute. "No, that's not true. We found a small indecipherable symbol at each of the bombings."

"Do you have a copy of the symbol with you?"

"Yes." Zechs pulled a small piece of metal out of his pocket.

"Would you mind if I try to draw that," Penelope asked, now truly interested.

"Why not."

He watched as she studied the little shape for a couple of minutes. Then her eyes got large.

"What is it," he demanded.

"I can tell you what this is."

"What?!?!"

"It's overlapping polygons. Here, I'll draw it. First a pentagon, then a hexagon, next is a heptagon, followed by a octagon, a nonagon, and last a decagon." Her drawing was precise and when she had finished her paper had a shape the looked exactly like the one in his hand. "Well, thank you for your time," she said, again cheerful, before she turned and started away.

Zechs was thourghly confused by her actions.

After she was out of sight, Penelope dropped her happy look and became deadly serious. She walked down a dark alley about 20 minutes from where the bomb had went off. She knocked five times on a heavy wooden door before it swung open.

"Well? How did it go, Penta," came a voice from in the shadows.

"They know the symbol now. That is what you wanted?"

"Yes. Now, lets begin."

Hope you like it. Please just tell me if you do or not.
