Zach stood in the high school's leadership room, looking at his

command crew. They were grades 9-12, young, untrained, the crew Zach had to whip into

shape. His first officer and helm officer was Lieutenant Commander Castle, his

operations officer was his cousin, Lieutenant Brandon Mohan, tactical officer and chief of

security, Lieutenant Rolison, science officer, Lieutenant Commander Barbuto, the only

one not from his school, commuincations officer, Lieutenant Jill Moritz, and chief

engineer, Lieutenant Commander Willcott. As Zach servayed them he launched into his

speech. "Ladies and gentelmen, you are the commander crew of the largest, fastest, most

technlogically advanced vessel the world has ever seen. You shold be honored just to

have been thaught of. Now we must get to work. Our mission is to test Lansing's warp

engines. I want you all on the bridge at 0800 hours tomorrow morning. Dismissed."

The next day Zach sat down in the command chair. "Mr. Castle, get us out of dock,1/2

impulse." Lansing's engines roared to life. She easied out of the enormus shed that had

been her dock for two years at Fort Leavenworth and headed into space. The pulled away

from Earth and entered space. "Mr. Castle, prepare to go to warp" The tension on the

bridge was heavy. Faster-than-light engines had always been a thing of science fiction,

until now. But this ship didn't just go faster than light. She went 5,000 times faster than

the speed of light or warp 9.2. As the warp engines came to life, the ship briefly enter

transwarp, and left the Milky Way far behind.
