Ch. 1 The Beginning of a Hectic Summer
Beep! Beep! Beep! Sakura Avalon slowly opened her emerald eyes. Suddenly, she realized what time it was.
"Oh no!" she exclaimed as she jumped out of bed, a rare phenomenon for her. She quickly threw on her school uniform, brushed her auburn hair, and put it up in her normal pigtail hairdo, all the while muttering to herself, "I can't believe my alarm clock went off two hours late! I don't even remember why I set it like that!" Behind her, Sakura heard one of the drawers of her desk slide open. She quickly turned around to tell Kero 'Good morning' and to ask him no to scold her tardiness right now. But instead of an angry guardian beast that was ready to yell at her, Sakura saw a sleepy Kero rise out of the top right drawer. The golden lion-like creature that currently resembled a stuffed animal with white wings rubbed his eyes.
"Sakura? What are you doing up?" Kero asked sleepily.
"What am I doing up?!" Sakura retorted, amazed at Kero's thickness. "Kero, I'm going to be way late for school!" Now it was Kero's turn to be amazed.
"Sakura," he said, "it's the first day of summer vacation!" *Sakura falls over classic anime style, twitching and all. *
"Oh well," Sakura said as she got back on her feet.
"Yeah," replied Kero, jabbing a paw into the air. "At least now you can get me breakfast early!"
