Adagio: [musical term] slowly, leisurely and with grace
Adagio
---
Living fast leaves a lot of time to kill - Pietro knows this all too well. The rest of the world moves around him at a snail's pace while he dashes ahead, and he's run himself bored long before everyone else catches up. He has to think of a hundred different ways to eat up some of that empty time - lucky he's got a quick mind - but there's never enough to do, and nothing's ever really a challenge anyway. He spends so much time holding back that sometimes it doesn't seem worth the effort.
And sometimes, it really does.
Like right now, with Lance's mouth against his, kissing him slowly and thoroughly; no, Pietro's definitely in no rush to get this over with. A hand twists carefully in his hair while the other rests in the small of his back, motionless. He lets his own hands move slowly, kneading the other boy's shoulder blades, savouring how time seems drawn out into a long, lazy cascade of moments.
Pietro shivers as a series of unhurried kisses are laid along his jaw-line and neck, and does it again when he finds himself urged gently but firmly onto the bed behind him. Lance's teeth nibble casually at his shoulder while Lance's hands steal up under his shirt, insisting that it be removed. Then that inquisitive mouth returns to his, teasing and coaxing, pausing only so Lance can lose his own shirt. Skin slides against bare skin with languid friction; the heat rises slowly but inevitably.
Lance sighs against his mouth and a hand slides down to unbutton his jeans, and Pietro is utterly lost in this tortuous, blissful slowness. Because this is more than a way to kill time; this is a way to enjoy it...
A while later, in the drowsy warmth of having-just-had-sex, Pietro stretches lazily and smiles. Lance is lying beside him, one finger tracing idle patterns on his skin, and neither of them feels much like moving - not for a while, at least. And Pietro has to concede that maybe - sometimes - taking your time isn't so bad.
Because some things are worth slowing down for.
