Hello, my name is Nokori. My parents have always told me to keep track of my name because it's something special. It means 'remnant'. I've asked Mom about that, and she said I was named that after what she left behind.
Did you know I'm only half human? Of course not, I hadn't told you yet. But yeah, my mom's a human and my dad's a river spirit. I've never met my grandparents, Mom says they wouldn't understand. What's not to understand? Just because I turn into a dragon sometimes (mainly when my emotions get away from me) and I have a pretty nasty temper. Daddy says that that's not the reason, it's because they've never met him and haven't seen Mom in over ten years.
From what I've learned from Granny, Granny Yubaba, Aunt Lin, Uncle Kamaji, and Boh Mommy came to our world by accident when she was about my age. She and her parents were on their way to a new home, and they took a shortcut and ended up in our world. Granny Yubaba was mad and made Mom, who's name was Chihiro, change her name to Sen and then made her work really hard. Mom fell in love with Daddy and then saved his life after he stole some gold thing from Granny. Then Mom and her parents (who had been turned into pigs when they first arrived) went back to the mortal world. A few years later, Mom came back and married Daddy. That's the story.
I'm nine and a half right now. Mom and Daddy make me work so I don't end up like her if something bad ever happens. Except that Granny Yubaba like me. I don't know why. But I'm getting off topic. This was supposed to be a history of my life. It's really not very interesting.
Me, Mom, and Daddy live in a big house with Aunt Lin behind Granny and No- face's house. It used to be just Granny's but she asked No-face to stay with her when the bathhouse Granny Yubaba runs made him crazy. When Mom and Daddy decided to get married, Granny had a big house built behind hers.
Mom's expecting another baby. I think Daddy's hoping it'll be a boy this time. He wants a son. I don't know why. Uncle Boh is still a baby even though he's as old as Mom and he comes to visit a lot.
Oh well, gotta end this now. I think Mom's calling me. That was nice though, getting to write all this down. Maybe I'll do it again sometime.
