Izumiko sat at her study finishing the day's tasks. School had already started about a week ago but she was yet to fly to Tokyo. She was very grateful to have learned how to use her laptop otherwise she wouldn't have been able to study remotely like she could now. As she was battling the last of her arithmetic problems, her thoughts wandered around school
I wonder what it's like in Tokyo right now. It has been snowing so heavily since yesterday. Well, Mayura did tell me it doesn't snow as much there. I really want to eat soba with everybody, Mayura, Manatsu, and Mi …
Her eyes went searching for her phone which was nowhere in her room so she rushed outside looking for Sawa.
"Sawa!" The older woman turned to her in surprise. Almost dropping the dish she was holding. "Where's my phone?" She stared blankly at Izumiko as if trying to make sense of what she was saying.
"Oh, yeah! You gave it to me for safe-keeping! Let's see, where did I put it? I guess it's in one of the drawers in the shrine office. Can you go there please? I'm quite busy here." Izumiko immediately left after hearing that. "And be back quickly. We're having dinner soon!"
It's already dark outside but Izumiko isn't bothered by the darkness. She's so used to Mt. Tamakura that she's confident of navigating the area even with her eyes blindfolded. However, this time, something else bothered her- the severe cold. She hurried so quickly that she forgot to wear her coat. Luckily for her, the shrine office is just a few feet away from her home.
She immediately found her phone on top of the desk and was determined to go back for some warmth but the loud ringing startled her as she was heading out. Hesitantly, she brought her phone to her right ear. "Good eve -"
"Stupid! Why didn't you answer your phone?" She took her phone away from her ear a bit.
"But I alrea -"
"Don't be sarcastic! I had been calling you since earlier! You made me so worried, I thought something happened again! Have you forgotten how to use your phone?!" he huffed. Izumiko could hear him breathless and frustrated so she checked her call log and was shocked to see how many times he had called.
"Sorry, I- " Izumiko tried giving an explanation but her voice was hardly audible. Knowing Izumiko, Miyuki sighed and calmed himself before talking.
"What were you doing?" he said, this time, more relaxed.
Izumiko smiled a bit after hearing the change in his tone. "I was catching up on the class activities and didn't notice my phone until now. I'm really sorry."
"Mmm. At least nothing happened. When are you coming back here anyway?"
"Maybe next week or sooner, I still have things to accomplish."
"Can you really not tell me about it?" irritation evident in his voice.
Izumiko shook her head. "Not yet. But I will. By the way, have you eaten yet?"
He sighed in the change of topic but gave up. "Not yet, I was about to but a certain someone was not answering so I lost my appetite."
"Sorry. You should eat now! I really want some soba but I think Sawa didn't cook some. Oh no! Sawa told me to come back quickly. Sorry Miyuki-kun! I'll call you later. Remember to eat, 'kay? Bye."
Miyuki was surprised at being hung up but relieved to hear from her. Hunger came to him so he went to the school cafeteria and grabbed the bowl of freshly prepared soba for dinner.
This is my first fanfiction. I just love the story so much and I think there are not enough fanfics out there.
Feel free to let me know what you think!
