Master of Parallel Worlds
~Prologue~
The Cursed Girl
The gear of consciousness started turning again inside of a certain "person" psyche. Said "person" soon realized that they were inside of a total empty pitch black room. Well, calling it a "room" would be a gross understatement. The "person" were in a world of complete blackness that seemingly stretched across infinity. They at first thought they were in outer space, but lacks of distant stars quickly shot down such a thought. The world was completely devoid of anything, nothing seemingly existed here barring their own consciousness.
The "person" couldn't even see whether or not they possess a body of their own. All they have were their own consciousness, confined within this world of blackness.
The "person" felt that their consciousness were pulled towards something. How bizarre since they cannot really tell which one was up, down, left, right. It was impossible to tell the concept of direction within this eerily silent world.
Soon the single consciousness within this world of blackness saw something. A faint blue light starting to enter their "vision" across the horizon. Not long after, the "person" can finally identified the source of this blue light that shines this world of blackness.
The "person" could only described the source of the light as a massive bright blue vortex of light that simply floated there in the middle of nothingness. It doesn't emit sound from what they can tell and it seemingly started to pull their consciousness towards it l.
As the "person" were getting closer to the mysterious blue vortex, a sudden rush of information invaded their mind. The "person" let out a gasped from their nonexistent mouth when they realized of the content of information that just entered their mind.
It was the information of their own identity. And as the "person" started to realized their own identity, they felt a body suddenly materialized itself around their consciousness.
The body was that of an average height female human possessing shoulder-length orange hair tied in a side ponytail on the left side of her head with yellow hair band. The body also wears a set of white uniform with black belt wrapped around the waist. The body also wears a black skirt complete with black leggings and a pair of white boots.
Fujimaru Ritsuka.
She was a woman that had lived her life full of struggles. Once was just an ordinary girl who was just looking for a job to support her financial problem, she has become of what you called the savior of humanity despite being just an ordinary girl.
She then began to remember at how did she ended up in this place.
"Ah that's right…I died."
That was the first thing that came out from her mouth ever since she regained her body.
She remembered the last moment of her life. Sitting on the terrace of her house while looking at the moon during a beautiful starry night with the person she loves the most. After the struggles of saving humanity twice in the course of just couple of years, she finally be able to enjoy a normal life, something that seemingly almost lost in her memories during her life.
And despite being only able to enjoy it for a couple of years, Fujimaru Ritsuka possess no regret during her life. She passed away peacefully, and the last thing she see was the face of the woman whom she proudly called as her knight.
Fujimaru Ritsuka smiled at the memories, hoping that the person she left behind can move on and continue live a happy life.
Ritsuka then turned her attention towards the swirling blue vortex in front of her. She might have limited knowledge regarding anything supernatural during her life, but even she know what the blue vortex in front of her really was.
The Swirl of the Root.
To put it lightly, it was the source of everything that had existed, currently exists and will exists. It stores every information of all possibilities of events, past, present and future of the world. It is the place where all the soul in existence originate from and to where they return after death. Only several individuals that managed to "reach" the Root.
"Huh, so this is the thing that many magi are fighting for their entire lifes?" Ritsuka mumbled as she keep staring at the blue vortex. "To be honest, I was expecting something more…majestic than this."
Ritsuka then let out a small shrugs and she began to walk towards the vortex. Fully knowing what would happen the moment the blue vortex touches her. Something that was quite scary for those who fears death.
But not Ritsuka, she had gazed into oblivion before and now it's time to face it.
"Oh well, it doesn't matter anymore. I had lived my life and has no regret." She commented as she was right in front of the Root. It still within the range where it unable to touch her yet, but that will change in a moment.
"It's been a fun ride. Thank you for letting me enjoying the beautiful experience that was my life."
And with that last words, Fujimaru Ritsuka reached her hands towards the Root and touched it. She closed her eyes and she waited her entire existence to be break down into very miniscule of atoms and be assimilated into the Root
But something unexpected happen.
Instead of being torn apart into countless pieces and be absorbed into the Root, she felt a sudden rush of information invaded her minds again. However this time, the information was so massive in numbers that she felt like her brain was having an overload.
And after what she felt like an eternity….
….The Root…
…Blasted her away from it.
"Urgh"
Ritsuka grunted as she landed on the nonexistent floor quite hard that she could feel as if her spine has been shattered into pieces. She managed to get herself back up and stared at the blue vortex with wide eyes.
And the first thing that came out of her mouth after all of that was…
"What the hell?!"
Words cannot described her confusion of what she just experienced. Anything that touches the Root will lose their existence as an individual and become one with the Root. But when Ritsuka touches the Root, she was being rejected by it instead. Not only that she just gained tons of information that normal magi would gladly commit a massacre in order to obtain it, she also gained an understanding on how to manage the Root.
Normal people would probably be delightful upon receiving the equivalent of "the capabilities of God".
But not Ritsuka.
It's not like she detest power or anything. No, she had once experiencing power close to that of a god for a brief moment during the Olympus Lostbelt. And it felt so amazing, for the first time since the Human Incineration Incident that she wasn't as helpless as she usually does.
But she was supposed to be dead and it just doesn't feel right to her to obtain all of this. Considering that she felt like she didn't do much to save the world. The credits belong to all the Heroic Spirits who did all the heavy lifting.
She openly frowned as she marched towards the Root again…
(BLAM)
Only for her face to flatten onto the invisible wall.
She placed her hand onto the invisible wall that separated her from the Root and delivered a punch onto it. Her fist was stopped on her track as she failed to break through the invisible wall. Ritsuka grinded her teeth in frustration as she jumped back for a bit and her right hand reached into a golden portal that suddenly materialized itself on its own.
This ability belongs to a certain King from Uruk whom Ritsuka meet multiple times during her short life. He was one of the person that she admired the most in regard of strength. Upon receiving information from the Root, Ritsuka seems to gain the ability to use it as if it was her own ability.
Ritsuka hand then pulled out a red colored cylinder-looking weapon from the golden portal. As soon as she fully pulled it out, the weapon began to spin at high speed, unleashing a vortex of energy while causing a space-time dislocation.
She raised the weapon that also belong the certain King of Uruk above her head and swing it down with while yelling the name of the attack she was about to deliver.
"ENUMA ELISH!"
Ritsuka shot massive wave of energy vortex towards the Root. To her surprise, the massive wave of energy from the Anti-World Noble Phantasm suddenly disappeared when it clashed with the invisible barrier. Ritsuka widened her eyes at this as she fell to he knees and let go of the weapon she just used.
"No, it can't be." Ritsuka whispered in despair as she keep looking at the Root. "Why? Why is this happening to me? Am I going to be denied death now? After everything that's already happened?" Ritsuka curled herself into a ball as she cried her heart out while her cry rings across the void.
It wasn't like Ritsuka actually hated living. She simply wanted something that was supposedly preordained to happen. That's the lesson she learned during the journey that was her life. Lives your life to the fullest no matter what inevitable outcome awaits you in the future.
Her life was over and she accepted that as absolute fact.
And yet here she was, being denied of what rightfully hers by the very thing that spawned her.
After getting it out of her system, Ritsuka finally stop crying her heart out as she get herself back to her feet. She fully realized now that there was nothing she can do to change this. She doesn't have any reason to live and yet she was forced to continue living. The question now was what will she do next.
Ritsuka shook her head lightly as she put away that thought for now.
"No…there is no need to thinking about it now. I need to get out of this blasted place first." Ritsuka stated to herself as she regained her composure.
After calming down herself, she then used a certain Magic which she was able to use now due receiving the information of it from the Root, to materialize countless of holographic image of the worlds.
Kaleidoscope.
The Second Magic of the five True Magic. Its domain was the Operation of Parallel World's, allowing the user to observe and interact with Parallel Worlds. It was said that the Second Magic was created as the mean to reach the Root.
Well, aside from dying of course.
She witnessed the holographic image of the countess worlds spinning around her.
She knew it would be wise to observe which world would be ideal for her next destination first before going there.
But the longer she remains in this place, the stronger the urge to try and break down that invisible barrier again.
She knew it would be a futile endeavor, but she will do it anyway if she stayed her any longer
So she just picked one random world and multicolored portal suddenly appeared before her. And without wasting any more time, Ritsuka Fujimaru stepped into the portal and left the world of blackness behind.
