Chapter One: An Encounter with Death

The room was cold and the air still. Not a single sound to be heard apart from someone's ragged breathing. A young boy stood alone in the dark just staring out of the window, at least he thought he was alone.
A cloaked figure slowly approached him seemingly coming from nowhere. The boy's breathing hitched.

"Good evening." A deep voice spoke.

"Uh... evening?"

There was no face to be seen nor did any feet tread the ground. However there seemed to be hands hanging gently from the cloak and a suggestion of shoulders, neck and head. The figure seemed to be intrigued with the boy, while the boy appeared unbothered albeit a little confused.

"You are interesting." The voice had a slight echo to it even though it spoke softly.

"Is that so?"

"Indeed, for such an important boy to care so little about his life is truly a tragedy."

"What gave you that impression?"

"You are unafraid of me."

The boy turned to fully face the figure. He could see for certain that there was nothing under the hood. If he was to be honest the figure was unnerving but he had faced worse.

"Seen worse" He jerked his head up in a quick nod. The figure seemed to laugh, if that was even possible.

"Worse than Death themself?"

The boy just shrugged. There was a moments silence, each of them considering the other.

"I'll will come for you again one day soon. Make sure to be prepared." Just a quietly as it arrived, it dissappeared.

The boy stood eerily still for a while, thinking on what just happened.
"Was I... was I just told that I'm going to die?"
