My Hero Academia: The Useless Quirk Club
Prologue - The Beast Men

From the comfortable, soft linens folded against his body on his warm bed, Morikawa Yamato slowly rolled towards the edge of his bed before slithering out. He made an irked face as the morning chill reached his bones, prompting him to yawn quite loudly while he grabbed his arms and shook like a leaf in the winter breeze.

He soon opened the door to his room and quickly made his way to the bathroom to get ready for the first day of high school.

The young man stared at his reflection in the mirror, spitting out toothpaste foam as the fog of the warm water placed a considerable amount of moisture in his mirror. He shook the water off of him before gargling some water to rinse the paste off his mouth.

"Ha…" Yamato tried to ignore the amount of hair he found on his shower drain cover, deciding that that was his problem later that week. He finally exited the bathroom quietly and went back to his room to dry up and dress himself in his designated uniform.

He took one last look at himself in the standing mirror in his room, judging that his uniform was fairly acceptable. The plain colors weren't too aggressive in the eyes, too. He found that the dark black, double-breasted suit jacket and navy-blue tie went well with the dark grey uniform slacks with a faded white grid design. He pulled the cuffs a bit before grabbing his white and navy-blue school bag from the top of his desk.

Once he was out of his room, he could now hear the faintest footsteps coming from down the first floor as the sound of sizzling oil and - from what he could smell - canned mackerel being prepared by his mother after she woke up to cook him a decent breakfast.

"Yamato. Eat up before you go, please."

While he was the type to skip breakfast for the most part, he decided to stay and share the morning meal with the company of his mother. He could tell she was very happy just by the sound of her purring. As soon as he was finished, he got up, grabbed his bag, and headed for the door, "I'm heading out. I'll see you later."

"Goodbye, sweetie! Come back soon!"

Walking in the streets early in the morning was actually quite relaxing for the teen as the chilly wind waved behind and all around him before going on its way. He began to see other Seishin Yuushou students walking either with their peers whilst chattering amongst themselves while others remained quiet and distanced from the rowdier types.

He himself enjoyed his sweet time alone and decided to put on a podcast documentary type that was covered by a popular podcaster, IwaMoto. One who knew Yamato for a long time would be able to tell that she was somewhat of a celebrity crush.

[Hey, guys! Happy Tuesday!

I hope you're having a wonderful day so far. My name is IwaMoto.

And this is a stand-alone podcast meant to educate those who are and aren't familiar with the Siege of Kyoto, otherwise known as the Ningen Rebellion - the last and final battle, officially ending the Beast Wars.

It was the YEAR 2231, April 4th.

The Siege of Kyoto was referred to as the Ningen Rebellion by the Beast Men as they fought for the end of oppression and segregation.

A brutal war between man and beast… finally came to an end. However, it was found to be quite a surprise that the powerful avant-garde group belonging to activist Junji Itsuki surrendered the night before their broadcasted attack of the Tokyo Capital.

According to his white-flag testimony, he had stated:

"Those with ears who won't listen, won't understand, take to heart [the] consequences of their actions. If one side doesn't take responsibility, take the step forward to right the wrongs, then nothing will change. Others will regret their transgressions, but I will remember my actions as a testament that we [Beast Men] hurt, love, smile, and anger like everyone else. How do you put the human in the equation when those calling the shots see us as nothing more than sport? But even I have the decency to know when to fight the fight and when to turn the other cheek. We will not fight with our arms… we're done causing pain… [We] just want our freedom, our peace, our homes… and our right to be human."]

Yamato stopped for a few seconds as students passed him, his slitted eyes instantly looking down and away from the rest of his peers. His eyes slightly narrowed as he gripped the strap of his bag tight. He soon began to walk again as the podcast continued playing.

[It wasn't a mystery that human evolution had an outstanding capacity to branch out into multiple avenues within the span of a single century. This was fully evident as in the case after the dawn of Quirks had forever transformed the world, but a few new changes began to take place soon after the Paranormal Liberation War struck the hearts of many even outside Japan.

Even nature had shifted to welcome these astounding developments. The natural world once again began to flourish as it did when human advancements were few and rare. Flora usually seen blossoming in the rural areas made its way into the most populated corners of cities and adapted well to the changing weather conditions as well as giving way for the extraordinary instance of fauna population increasing despite their supposed near extinction dealt by human hands. The world had slowly begun to heal as humanity devoted considerable time and effort to caring for their ever-changing home.

Still, one very crucial aspect remained throughout the shift into the new century.

Quirk Evolution.]

"Quirk Evolution, huh?" The boy's ear flicked slightly as he kept walking. The morning crowd began to flood the Kyoto streets, yet he could make out the flag that belonged to Seishin Yuushou. He listened intently still, walking in tune with the rest of his peers and some office workers rushing to go to work in the early morning.

[In order to fully understand the accounts leading up to the Siege of Kyoto, many modern historians suggest referring back to when the world was fully unprepared with the first contact with Meta Abilities, a.k.a. Quirks.

Many of those who were with superhuman abilities were dehumanized, leading activists from all around the globe to fight and die for their human rights to live freely and without fear of harm and prejudice in their own unique approach. Individuals like Chikara Yotsubashi and his mother - "The Mother of Quirks" - who had proposed free and unrestrained use of Quirks without government intervention, Ilya Morozov of the Russian Federation - who was responsible for abolishing Russia's Meta Ability Concentration Camps, and Reese Winters - a young woman killed in the protest against Meta Ability Segregation in America, all took up a form of resistance against the fear-driven acts of extreme and often inhumane treatments of Quirked individuals in the past. Civil unrest dotted every nation until Quirked vigilantes stepped in and protected the innocent regardless of where their allegiance lies, making way for the now popularized profession of Heroism. After many instances of righteous acts of service to the people were recognized, the Quirkless started to welcome those they initially discriminated against. The hatred and disgust then turned into fascination and praise.

Quirks were soon normalized after certain laws were enacted - which was different for every country - to defend the Quirked minority, but times quickly changed and molded society to uphold its citizens for possessing Quirks and shunning those without, which was a complete turnaround from what it used to be before. The Quirkless people became the minority as Quirks appeared one after another, dissolving most genetic lines without the Quirk gene.]

'Sounds about right…'

[The heavily debated Quirk Singularity Theory had been constantly referred to, tested, added on, and molded to fit the narrative of the ever-changing human genetic capacity for evolution.

This forward-induced evolutionary movement was given the name, Quirk Expansion Spectrum.

And as humanity moved forward in time yet again, a significant change had resulted in the decisive addition to the three main Quirk types, which were the Emitter, Transformation, and Mutant-types…

The fourth and final Quirk Type was referred to as… "The Beast-Type"-]

"Tsk…" Yamato grimaced as he sent a subtle death glare at the student that bumped him as he entered the entrance, stopping his podcast as his earbud plug was pulled out of its socket.

"Heh. Sorry, Kitty~!" Came the mocking tone that was ever so familiar to him.

Even though Yamato didn't do anything to prolong the moronic altercation that that stranger started, those words truly sounded scornful and unwelcoming. He guessed that some people still hold onto some past belief that his kind were man-eating monsters that went around destroying everything and doing unspeakable things to others. "What's a Beast Man even doing here?"

Yamato proceeded to place his dress shoes inside his locker before taking it out and putting it inside a plastic bag he pulled out from his school bag before finally shoving it inside his school bag, so that no one would even think of trashing it. He then put his stark white inside shoes on and quietly headed towards the gymnasium, where the opening ceremony that was mandatory for all first years will take place.

Hello!

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for giving it a read! I hope you guys enjoyed it at least! Also, I decided that I like the format where worldbuilding comes in these little outros, so I'm going to keep doing it.

I go by sheep, and this isn't my first rodeo, but people who know me know my crazy antics .! Hopefully, I keep this up because I really like my plans for this story, and I feel like my story won't tire my brain out coming up with action scenes and such. I'm looking at you, SomeWarlock and LordMammon.

This is going to be an SYOC, but I won't need a lot of characters. If I end up going for a fairly consistent story, I might open up the character list. That's a huge IF though.

Now that that's out of the way, here's a few rules before you get into the form. The form itself will be posted in the next chapter, and it will also be in my Bio!

1. Don't add or subtract anything to my form. If you do, then you should let me know and have a reason ready to provide.

2. Don't submit through the reviews. No ifs or buts.

3. Don't submit out-there Quirks... or powerful Quirks, in general... REMEMBER... they should be USELESS QUIRKS! Hence the name!

4. Please title your PM " TUQC - Last Name, First Name [Norm/Beast]"!

5. The Beast List isn't extensive, and I'm thinking only two other characters are a Beast-Type. *Beast-Types are... (HEH! You thought! Ask me if you want the deets!)

6. No deaths here! That would be sorta out of line with what I have planned.

*There are 7 student OC spots available. The form will be due November 10th, so make your OC exceptional!
