Author's note: Hi everybody! Welcome to yet another new story of mine. Some of it is based off of real-life occurrences. I hope that you like it!

(Here's the full summary:

Lan Zhan meets single-father Wei Ying and his son A-Yuan at the store. Wei Ying needs help with something, for which he offers his assistance. He finds himself bonding with them a bit as he does, but after helping him, he does not expect to either of them again.

However, he is wrong. He eventually begins to see them more frequently, and before long, they find their way into his life...and into his heart.

Little does Lan Zhan know, however, that Wei Ying is someone he has forgotten from his past and vice versa. What will they do when they find out? And how will it affect the course of their life?

Rating will change.)

The store was crowded, as it usually was at four o'clock in the afternoon. Dozens of people were milling around. Some of them were shopping as others were talking to their family members or friends.

Lan Zhan was one of them, frowning a bit as he picked out the groceries and items that he needed at home. He usually wasn't there at this time of day, preferring to shop in the early evening when there were less people. However, he had run out of several things, so it was necessary for him to come earlier.

It took a little while to get what he was looking for due to the number of people. Some of the items were out of stock, so he would have to do without or go to another store.

He eventually found most of what he needed and went to wait in line. It wasn't as long as he thought it would be, but a few of the customers ahead of him had more items than he did. Nevertheless, he was in no particular hurry to get home, so he waited patiently.

It was almost his turn when he noticed a man in a black jacket standing near the door. He was a bit pale and had dark-brown eyes. His long. black hair was pulled up in a high ponytail.

One of his hands was on the stroller in front of him, where - who was clearly his son - sat. He looked to be around three or four years old. His eyes, which were like his father's, were sparkling with happiness as he wiggled in excitement.

"Does anyone know where the nearest mailbox is?" the man was inquiring, holding a letter in his other hand.

Most of the people who walked by him shook their heads. Others pointed in the direction of where it was, but their instructions seemed to confuse him.

Lan Zhan felt an inexplicable need to help him as his turn came to pay for his things. That surprised him because he kept to himself for a majority other the time. He didn't have any friends; the only people who spent any time with was his older brother and uncle. He rarely spoke to anyone that he did not know, much less help them.

But he wanted to help this man. It couldn't hurt to, especially since the nearest mailbox was on the way to his house.

Plus, there was something vaguely...familiar about him, but he couldn't put a finger on why. He didn't remember ever seeing him before.

He gathered his bags and paid the cashier before approaching him.

"Excuse me," he said quietly.

The man turned to him. "Yes?" he asked.

"If you do not mind, I can show you where the mailbox is. It is only around the corner, very close to where I live."

A bright smile spread across the man's face. Lan Zhan found himself in awe of how beautiful he looked when he did, though it wasn't apparent from his expression.

"Thank you so much. I would like that. I just moved to a shelter near here, so I'm not familiar with this area," he remarked.

Lan Zhan secretly wondered what a gorgeous man like this was doing in a shelter. Such a person deserved a nice home, especially to raise his son in.

"You are welcome. Follow me. It is not a long walk."

The man fell in step beside him as they left the store. "Thank you again. I'm Wei Ying, and my courtesy name is Wei Wuxian. What's yours?" he queried.

Lan Zhan shot him a brief glance. "Lan Zhan, courtesy name Lan Wangji," he replied.

Wei Ying chuckled, making his skip a beat. He had a rather nice laugh.

"Not very loquacious, are you? I can tell. But that's okay! I can talk enough for the both of us," he declared.

Lan Zhan hoped so. He found that he liked his voice.

"A-Die?" Wei Ying's son piped up. "What does loqua-ious mean?"

"It means talking a lot, A-Yuan, like you and I do!"

A-Yuan giggled.

Lan Zhan had to smile, something he didn't often do. He wasn't much for children since he was rarely around any, but he still found him quite cute. "Your son is adorable. How old is he?"

"Oh, he turned three about five months ago."

A-Yuan beamed at him. "My birthday is Jan-wary twelfth!" he announced.

"Mmm. My birthday is in January too, on the twenty-third," Lan Zhan stated.

"Yay!" A-Yuan cheered.

"It's awesome that you two were born in the same month. My birthday isn't until October, on the thirty-first," Wei Ying said.

"Mmm."

Wei Ying and A-Yuan continued to talk as they walked down the street. They talked about how the latter's birthday had gone, and how they liked the shelter they had moved to so far.

"It's better than the apartment that we lived in some ways, but our room is smaller. We had to move out because our building was condemned. But I didn't have enough money to find another one to stay in, so I ended up having to pick a shelter," the former sighed morosely. "I'm going to find another apartment to live in as soon as I get a job, though. I hope I can find one around here. It would be more convenient. A lady at the shelter can watch A-Yuan for me while I work, so I don't have to worry about that."

"Mn," Lan Zhan grunted. "I hope that your situation improves."

"Thank you."

They soon made it to the mailbox, and Lan Zhan had a sudden idea.

"A-Yuan?" he said.

He looked up. "Yes?"

Another small smile appeared on his face. "How would you like to put your a-die's letter inside?"

Gasping, A-Yuan turned to Wei Ying with eagerness. "May I, A-Die? Please?"

He nodded with a grin of his own. "Of course you may!"

Wei Ying unbuckled him and handed him the letter. A-Yuan leapt out the stroller and skipped over to Lan Zhan, who stood behind him.

"Ready?" he asked, placing his hands around his waist.

He nodded in excitement.

"One...two...three."

Lan Zhan lifted him up and opened the mailbox's door for him. A-Yuan put the letter inside, and the former made sure that was before setting him down.

"Very good," he praised in a low voice.

Wei Ying clapped. "Good job, A-Yuan. Thank you," he said to the both of them.

"You're welcome," they responded at the same time.

Lan Zhan straightened then. "I am afraid that I have to go now. I have to get home. But it is a pleasure to meet you and your son, Wei Ying."

"It's nice to meet you to, Lan Zhan...or would you rather I call you Lan Wangji?" he asked uncertainly.

"Lan Zhan is fine."

"Okay. Maybe we will see each other sometime. Thank you again for showing us where the mailbox is."

"Perhaps. And again, you are welcome."

Wei Ying smiled widely. "Come on, A-Yuan. We have to get home, too."

A-Yuan sat back down in his stroller and waved to Lan Zhan. "Good-bye, Youjian-gege! Thank you! That was fun!"

Both he and Wei Ying were amused by his name for him.

Lan Zhan nodded. "You are also welcome. It was my pleasure."

Wei Ying waved too before heading back up the street. Lan Zhan watched them until they disappeared, almost chuckling as A-Yuan continued to say good-bye. After that, he went across the street and made his way home.

Author's note: Hi again. I hope that all of you enjoyed this first chapter. "Youjian-gege" means "Mail-brother", by the way. Please leave a review and let me know what you think. See you again soon!
