Heart of Gold
Summary: Nyssa is a single mom that starts work at Endevor's Company after escaping an abusive relationship. She was in Shota's class when they were in UA High. She starts working for Shoto and they grow close. But her past is coming back to haunt her. Can she and her daughter survive? Shota/OC
AN: This is when everyone is an adult.
Chapter 1 First Day
Nyssa was running late as she ran down the sidewalk. Miki, who was five and her daughter, forgot her book at home and they had to go back. Today was her first day at her new job. It was one of her old classmates father's jobs. Until she could figure out babysitter, Nyssa couldn't be a pro hero. Her quirk was that she could control water. She was shocked that she got the job and they were willing to work with her daughters schooling until she figured out a babsitter. Nyssa had escaped with her daughter from an abusive relationship and was now living in a one bedroom apartment near where Endeavor's Agency was.
"Not a way to make a first impression to your boss." Nyssa grumbled, pushing her long blue hair out of her face as she entered the building where Endevor's headquarters were. Her ocean blue eyes scannned the entrance. Nyssa went towards the elevator and bumped into someone. "Sorry about that. I'm running late."
"Nyssa?" A familiar voice asked. She looked over and reconized a boy with messy green hair and green eyes.
"Deku? Is that you?" Nyssa asked. Deku had grown since she last saw him. Though she watched her old friends on the news with her daughter when her ex wasn't home. He had lost the boyish face and was more muscular. He was number 1 in the Hero ranking with Shoto in Second and Katsuki Bakugo was third.
"Nyssa it is you. I heard talks you were joining us here." Izuku said, hugging her. She flinched a bit, but returned his hug. "The others will be happy to hear you back and Shoto will be pleased to see you." Nyssa felt her face pale at Shoto's name.
"How is everyone?" Nyssa asked.
"They are all busy with hero stuff, but I'm sure they will be happy to hear your back." Izuku said with a smile.
"I need to meet with Endeavor. I'm running late as it is. Good seeing you Deku." Nyssa said. Izuku told her where she needed to go and she headed in the direction that was pointed.
Endeavor was waiting for her in his office. He turned when Nyssa opened the door.
"I'm sorry I'm late Endeavor. My daughter forgot something at home and I ran into Deku out in the lobby." Nyssa said as she closed the door.
"Its fine. Try not to make a daily accurance." Endeavor said. He stood with flames coming off him like she rememebered. There was hints of grey in his red hair and beard. "We are waiting for someone to join us. You'll know him." Nyssa raised an eyebrow at his words.
"Who are you.." She started but the door opened. Nyssa turned and eyes widen at the man standing in front of her. "Shoto." She said his name in whisper.
Shoto stood taller then her. He grew since she last saw him. He was more muscular and his hair was a little longer then when they were students.
Shoto didn't know why his father called him to his office so early. He usually came in later. Shoto stood in surprise as he walked in to a blue haired girl, standing in his father's office. The girl turned and Shoto's eyes widen. The first friend he made at UA High stood in front of him. She was skinnier then last time he saw her five years ago when she left without a word to any of their friends. Nyssa's eyes almost seemed lifeless, but seemed to light up seeing him.
"Nyssa?" Shoto asked shocked she was now standing in front of him. It took every ounce of will power not to run up to him and hug him. Nyssa was so happy to see him. He was just happy to see that she was alright.
"Now that the two of you are reunited." Endeavor said. Shoto and Nyssa turned to Endeavor. He almost had a smirk on his face, but it disappeared when the two friends turned towards him. "Nyssa has come to work here. I'm putting her with you as your personal assistant." Shoto's and Nyssa's eyes widen. "Its temporary for now. She can't do Pro Hero work for now." Endeavor knew that she wanted to keep her daughther secret from others till she was ready. Nyssa wasn't expecting to be put with Shota.
"Father. I don't..." Shota said.
"You need some help and I thought you would have someone that you know and trust." Endeavor said. Shoto and Nyssa share looks. Shota saw that she could not meet his eyes.
'What happened to her. This would be the only way I will find out the truth.' Shota said.
"Fine." Shota said. Nyssa looked at him in surprise.
"Thank you for the oppurtunity to work, Endeavor." Nyssa said. Endeavor nodded.
"Be ready to patrol in an hour, Shota." Endeavor said. Shota shot his father a glare.
"C'mon. I'll show you where you'll be working." Shota said. Shota led Nyssa out of his father's office. They head down the hall.
"I'm surprised your working for your father. I thought you would have your own agency." Nyssa said.
"Father wants me to learn the ropes from him. Only condition I had was Deku and Bakuga joined me." Shota said, not looking back at Nyssa.
"Bakuga is here?" Nyssa said. Shota nodded. "I ran into Deku before I met your father." Shoto didn't respond which didn't surprise her. He was usually quiet in school. They entered an office area where Shota worked. The office was set up nice and organized.
"Your desk is there. Before you leave, leave your phone number on my desk." Shoto said. Nyssa walked over to the desk. Shoto watched her walk away to the desk. Five years and they had both changed. She seemed more quiet. "Nyssa." Nyssa nearly jumped at her name called. She turned to look at Shoto. "I'm glad your back." Nyssa smiled.
"Its good to be back." Nyssa said. Nyssa sat down in her desk chair. Shoto went to get ready for the partrol with his father. He came out to find Nyssa working. Shota saw her phone number already on his desk. She didn't look up when he approached.
"I'll be gone for a few hours. Do you want me to pick you up something for lunch before I come back?" Shota asked. Nyssa looked up at him. He noticed bags under her eyes.
"No its fine. I'll go get food when I take a break." Nyssa said. Shota reached to touch her shoulder, but she moved away like she didn't want to be touched. Shoto pulled his hand back. "I'm sorry. I'm not the girl that you went to school with."
"Nyssa. I want you to eventually tell me why you disappeared for five years without a word to any of us. You had us all worried. Momo and Uraraka." Shoto said. Nyssa looked away. "When your ready to tell me, tell me. I won't force you, but we all would like to know the truth eventually." Nyssa blinked away a tear before she looked at Shoto.
"I will when ready. I lost numbers of our friends. Can you let Momo and Uraraka know I'm back?" Nyssa asked.
"If you ran into Deku, I'm sure he let Uraraka know you were here. They are seeing each other." Shoto said. Nyssa wasn't surprised. The two seemed to dance around their feelings when in class. "I shouldn't keep my father waiting." Shoto headed out. Nyssa watched him go. She put her face in her hands as soon as she saw him disappear.
'I know I have to tell him eventually. I just hope hope he doesn't hate me for keeping I have a daughter and what happened to me for five years.' Nyssa thought. She never thought a one night stand would end with her pregnant and being forced by her ex to stay away from her friends. Nyssa had no family. Her parents were dead and she was the only child. Shoto and her were close during UA and she had a crush on him during School and the war that both barely survived with their friends. The days living with her ex were hell. Her daughter was the only thing that kept her going and the reason for her escape. Now she had a chance to reconnect with all her friends. Nyssa brushed the tears away and got to work. There were papers, Emails, and some phone calls to make.
Shoto didn't come back when it was time for Nyssa to go. Nyssa logged off and went to drop the papers off on Shoto's desk for him to look over. She grabbed her bag and hurried out of the office.
The school wasn't to far from Endeavor's office and the apartment wasn't to far away. She was happy the shelter was able to help get the one room apartment for her and her daughter and rent was paid for the next two months. She ran up towards the school. She pushed her long blue hair out of her face.
"Mommy!" A voice called. Miki stood with one of the teachers, who was also Shoto's sister, Fuyumi. Miki was a small girl. Her hair was two different color's. One side was blue and one side was white. (AN: Like Shoto's.) Her ocean blue eyes were sparkling.
"Hey sweetheart." Nyssa said, coming up and hugging her daughter.
"How was your first day working with my father?" Fuyumi asked.
"It was good. I'm working for Shoto." Nyssa said. Fuyumi smiled.
"Wait your working for the Second Greatest Hero, mommy? That's amazing." Miki said, jumping up and down.
"Him and I went to the same school and same class, honey. I told you." Nyssa scolded.
"It's still awesome." Miki said.
"I'm glad you got the job working at father's office. Shoto was really worried about you. I'm not telling him about Miki. I think that should be you telling him." Fuyumi said.
"Thank you Fuyumi. Let's go home." Nyssa said, putting a hand on Miki's shoulder.
That night. Nyssa had the tv going as her daughter laid in bed after a good dinner. Nyssa stepped into the bathroom. There was a stinging sensation on her shoulder. Nyssa closed her eyes. Shoto had almost touched it. She had seen the hurt in his eyes when she pulled away. Nyssa reached for her shirt and pulled it off. She opened her eyes. A burn mark that almost looked like a hand print was on her shoulder. A reminder of the past with her ex that terrified her of what would happen if he found her or her daughter.
Nyssa changed into her pajamas and goes into the bedroom to find Miki curled up with her stuffed animal asleep. Nyssa turned off the TV and crawled into bed. She stared up at the ceiling. She just prayed that she could keep her daughter safe. She fell asleep after a few hours cause her mind wouldn't stop worrying.
AN: First shot at trying a My Hero Academia. I got plans for the story. I know Bakuga is dead in the Manga but he's alive in my story. Till Next time.
