"But Dad I haven't been home in over four months, I miss you" Silena Beauregard pleaded into the phone.

"I know Silena, and I'm so sorry but the candy convention got moved up a week. If I don't go, the store's investors will cancel their sponsorship."

"Well can't I go to the convention so I can at least see you?"

"No sweetheart, you know that you would hate it. Plus I wouldn't even get to spend time with you because I'll be too busy running around."

There was silence on Silena's end.

"I know it's been a long time since you've been home but it's only a month and some change till school starts and then you can come back! You'll get to see all of your friends and we can go on our Tuesday coffee dates, and everything will be back to normal."

"Yeah I know, I'm just tired of being at camp…"

"I'm sorry sweety, just a little longer. You've got this, you're tough just like your dad."

Silena laughed weakly into the phone and wiped away a silent tear, "Yeah, I'll be counting down the days though."

"I'll be counting down the hours- oh I've got to go; one of the investors is calling. I love you so much pumpkin, hang in there ok?"

"Ok, love you too. Have a good convention."

And with that, he made kissy noises into the phone and hung up.

"Great" Silena said as she slid down the back wall of Cabin 10. She was going to get her jeans dirty from sitting on the ground but she was so defeated she didn't care. She was originally calling her dad to vent about how cruel some of her cabin mates were being to her, but instead was met with the news that she would have to wait another month to get out of the Hades hole that was this camp.

Silena loved Camp Halfblood; she had just been there way too long. She had a run in with a monster after school one day so she had to go to camp two months earlier than she usually would. She was supposed to come home for a week to visit but it had to be pushed back, now, three times. That meant too much time with her gossipy siblings, way too many hours training, and too many nights feeling alone.

It all just became too much. Silena hugged her legs to her chest and started to cry into her knees. She was tired of feeling alone and just wanted to go home. Her siblings were great and all but sometimes they were just too much, and since she was from the Aphrodite cabin the other campers weren't exactly eager to be her friend. Annabeth was nice to her and they would hang out sometimes but she was always busy practically running the camp. Which meant that the place she felt most comfortable was behind the cabin talking to her dad on the phone, and now he was too busy for her too.

After about five minutes of crying, the sound of someone's footsteps interrupted the sound of her sobs. Silena quickly wiped away her tears and frantically stood up fearing that it was one of her siblings. The last thing she wanted to do is have to explain how she was feeling to every single one of her cabin mates, because you know they would talk. With her phone in hand she quickly rounded the corner and was suddenly met with a lot more force than she was anticipating, and was knocked over. Her phone slipped out of her hand and hit what happened to be the only rock within a five foot radius. Her phone shattered. She looked up, ready to lay it on whoever was responsible for the obliteration of her phone screen, but was instead met by a handsome face and a flood of apologies.

"Oh my gods I am so sorry, I didn't see you there! I was just coming back to get my tools, I didn't think anyone else would be back here and- OH MY GODS YOUR PHONE!" With that, the handsome boy frantically picked up Silena's phone and quickly examined it. "Oh jeeze I am so sorry, I can fix it for you." The boy spoke so quickly Silena couldn't get in a word. Once he had finally finished Silena took a deep breath and responded.

"Um, it's ok, do you really think you can fix it?" she asked as she pushed herself up off of the ground.

"Yeah of course, I'm from the Hephaestus cabin. My name's Charles by the way, but everyone calls me Beckendorf."

"Oh um, why's that?"

"That's my last name," Beckendorf stuck out his hand to shake Silena's. As he met her eyes he noticed how red and puffy they were and his hand fell a little. "Oh um… are you ok?"

Silena wiped her eyes feeling embarrassed and frantically stuck her hand out to shake his, "Yeah I'm fine, just allergies... I'm Silena by the way, Silena Beauregard."

He took her hand and shook it. He wasn't convinced but went along with the story. "Nice to meet you. Um, I can have your phone back to you by tomorrow. Just swing by the cabin before dinner and I'll have it ready for you."

"Ok, thanks Charles- I mean Beckendorf."

"Oh it's ok, you can call me Charles if you want. I'm not picky," he said with a smile.

"Alright, I guess I'll see you tomorrow then Charles."

"See ya then Silena."

Silena gave a little wave and turned around to head back to her cabin, surprisingly not mad about her phone being broken.
