(A/N: No words. Just this another unexpected multi-chaptered Maisenju fic that was born out of whim. Updates will be intermittently. No specific number of chapters yet as I was on a roll. Ratings may change in future chapters. Additionally, this is the 7th part of my short collection series, "Fire in My Heart." Lastly, I don't own anything from this franchise except for this fic on this site. Respective ownership belongs to Ken Wakui for this wonderful manga).
Chapter 1
By: Aztec999
"No." Senju said bluntly at the other end of the line.
"But you haven't let me finish yet!" The other woman exclaimed indignantly and Senju could already imagine the childish frown on the woman's face.
"I knew it would sound something stupid Emma and I don't wanna get caught up in your questionable plans." Senju replied casually as she readied her taekwondo uniform for her scheduled training session this weekend.
"It's not! Cross my heart! How about we meet up somewhere after your practice? At the newly opened café around the city this afternoon?" Emma tried once again.
Senju let out an exasperated breath. "You really won't give up do you?"
"Of course! You know me. So, 4pm at the café later?" She sounded hopeful.
"Fine. But if I don't like what you're about to say, I'm bailing out." Senju reminded her.
Emma cheered from the other end of the line.
Before on her scheduled meet up with Emma that day she had run on an errand given by her older brother, Takeomi, to deliver the boxes of pies being ordered by one of their neighbors around the neighborhood.
Senju was carrying some boxes of pies carefullywhen she bumped harshly into someone that sent the boxes spiraling down on the ground.
"Holy sh—."
"Damn it! Can't you see where you're going?"
A familiar yet harsh voice cut Senju's cursing midway, and she whipped her head to see the irritated face of Mikey in front of her. The same could be said to him as he squinted his eyes upon seeing her.
Any remorse or guilt quickly dissolved from her entire being upon learning who it was.
That damn bastard.
"You?!" They both shrieked out incredulously.
"Obviously I have eyes and I always watch where I'm going. Can't say the same thing for you." Senju shot back sharply as she stood up and picked up the boxes of pies that's sprawled on the ground unceremoniously.
"If you have eyes then you wouldn't cause someone an inconvenience and bumped into someone like this." Mikey snorted as he stood up and dusted himself off.
"Oh please. Don't lump this into me blondie. You obviously walk like you own this place so you're the one who causes the damn misfortune to the others like me who's minding their own business." She snapped.
A tick mark appeared on Mikey's forehead as he narrowed his gaze at her. "Wow. You really have some nerve to talk back to me you midget."
"How bold of you to call me that when you're literally the size of a small beansprout." She glared daggers at him.
An imaginary electric current passed through as they glared at each other like they wanted to strangle one another.
Mikey then grinned tauntingly at her as he stepped away. "You're lucky I'm going somewhere quickly, and I don't have to waste my pretty time around this pointless mess. Plus, I don't hit girls like you."
She snorted in disgust. "Excuses, excuses, excuses. I'm not gonna hear any useless chauvinistic claims from you blondie." She retorted as she walked past him after carrying the boxes of pies.
Any smart, aleck remarks from Mikey were stopped abruptly when he heard his phone rings. He sighed as he took it from his pockets and answered it. "Yes Kenchin?" He watched her go and tried not to let his usual belligerent encounter with the annoying woman ruin his day.
"No way Jose. I'd rather eat a glass than to seduce your brother who had an emotional capacity of a toddler." Senju said bluntly before taking a sip of her frappe.
"But this is important!" Emma protested. "You're like my only hope!"
"Stop pimping me towards your brother!"
"I do not!"
"Yes, you do!"
"I said I don't! I mean it's only temporary. You just need to get him away from that leech."
"Then why don't you hire someone for Pete's sake." Senju threw her arms in defeat. "Why are you pestering me like this?"
"Because I trust you and you won't do any funny business with my brother since you don't have feelings for him so it will be easier for you." Emma beamed at her.
Senju rubbed her temples as she could feel an incoming migraine suddenly. "Seriously? That's your reason?"
"Why? Is there another reason on why you should?" Emma asked, blinking a few times.
Senju facepalmed. "Oh please. I don't wanna deal with this any longer."
"C'mon Senju. Just think of it as a small favor from me. Also, if you help me, you can guarantee that if you need anything from me, I will be at your beck and call. So, please? Pretty please with cherry on top?" Emma flashed her that usual innocent, puppy look on her eyes and Senju instantly melted.
"Stop playing dirty damn it! You know with that kind of face—."
"Is the kind of face that you want to adopt stray fur babies, correct? C'mon Senju this is for my brother's future and for his sake. You're the only one I can count on to." Emma pleaded once again.
Senju let out a defeated sigh. "Fine, fine. But this is not a charity case got it? This is a favor, and you need to return it when I need it got it?"
Emma pumped up her fists into the air. "Yes! Yes! You won't regret it! You—."
Senju raised her forefinger to stop her cheering. "However, if your brother Mikey won't stop being a pest to me and he tries something funny to me, I won't be able to hold back and slam him to the ground or so God help me understand?" She glowered without any heat.
Emma quickly nodded in assent and raised her hand in girl scout honor. "I promised! No weird or any funny ideas. I just want you to successfully get him out of the clutches from those gold digger leech."
Senju sighed for the nth time of the day. Somehow, she knew the incoming headache that would come into her when she agreed to be rope into this kind of mess.
Good luck to her and her negative zero capability to even seduce a guy into a small conversation.
