Well, here it is. The last installment in my take on events from "All the Worlds a Stage" - My all time favorite episode. This time it's Amanda's POV!

Something's Cooking …Something Big - AMANDA

Chapter One

Amanda got to the Agency early on Monday morning. She was working with Leatherneck on picking locks. Today they were working on handcuffs. She was nervous but excited. She felt proud of herself and how far she had come from that first case she and Lee had worked on. Lee. Lee Stetson was an enigma to her sometimes. Over the last three years she had somehow broken down his walls and they were now best friends. Lately she felt he wanted more, but she wasn't sure. Was their friendship moving towards romance? Could he really want someone like her? She was after all a housewife with two boys and a live-in mother. Come on Amanda. You know Lee sees you more than that now. There is something in his eyes. He's trying to tell me that he's ready. You know that you have been in love with him for a very long time. Lee hasn't seen anyone outside the Agency except you for months. Maybe something will come out of the flirting we have been doing. It sure would be nice. He's tried to kiss me so many times and somehow we always get interrupted She took a deep breath and opened the Q Bureau door and dismissed her thoughts for the moment. She had work to do and wanted to prove to not only herself but Lee that she could be a good agent.

"So what's up?" She smirked at Lee as she tried to open the other handcuff that was on her wrist.

"Well, Billy wants to see us in the bullpen" His eyes were twinkling. He had a big grin that was on his face from the moment he saw her. "That is unless you're still tied up?"

The latch on the handcuff clicked and she said "Nope, I'm available." Her thoughts betrayed her and she said to herself I am always available for you. I wish he would see that. He laughed at her comment and opened the door for her. His hand went straight to her back where it seemed to gravitate lately. She loved having him guide her wherever they walked. She smiled as they got into the elevator. He was beaming and his dimples were out in full force. Does he have any idea what those damn dimples do to me? I swear…he is just so handsome. She decided to call him out on his smile.

"What's got you smiling today Stetson?" Amanda's big brown eyes were sparkling in the light and a small smile crept on her face. He looked at her and he laughed. He whispered "Oh I don't know…could be a beautiful brunette that just happens to be my partner who agreed to go out on a date with me on Friday?"

Amanda blushed. It was like he loved making her blush. She said "Oh…well said partner is very excited about the date on Friday? Any idea on where you will be taking her?"

Lee wrapped his arm around her waist pulling her closer. She gasped as he whispered in her ear. "That's for me to know and you to find out….its a need to know situation. You understand?"

He was driving her crazy. She wanted him to kiss her more than anything. Maybe he will when we are on our date….well I think if he doesn't I may have to take matters in my own hands and kiss him!

The elevator doors opened and she turned to face him. It wouldn't hurt to tease him during the week. She thought as she said to him "Well, then I guess you will just have to wait until Friday to see what I am going to wear….Need to know …of course.." She walked away smiling as she met up with their section chief, Billy Melrose. He had a new case for them.

They sat in silence on the way to the theater. She sensed something going on with Lee and wondered if it had to do with what was happening between them. She knew she had to calm his fears so she laid her hand on his arm. When she would do that there was always some silent message between them. She would feel loved…and safe with him.

"Lee, are you okay?"

He looked over at her. His eyes told her so much and she was a bit taken aback by it. Could it really be true? Could Lee Stetson be falling for me? She looked at him with all the love a person could give. She always knew that she had some sort of crush on him but she hid her true feelings for him…. just as well as he did apparently. Until recently. Something changed in their relationship and she was excited to see where it would go. He patted her hand and took it in his. He pulled it to his lips and kissed the back of it. She smiled and blushed. He was making her do that more often. She felt silly but he never made her feel that way. He seemed to enjoy making her blush.

"I am fine Amanda. Are you going to be okay if I leave you at the theater? I think you can handle meeting with Martinet by yourself. You can practice your Class C interrogation….it's an easy one. Just play your cover and you should be fine."

" Oh I will be okay. I am looking forward to meeting Tony. My professor in college loved him."

Lee smiled at her. "You never told me you were such a drama buff. When did you get into theater? Was it in college?"

Amanda laughed "Yeah I guess so. I needed a few credits so I decided to take theater and theater performance. I enjoyed it. Mother and Daddy didn't understand why I chose theater. Joe didn't either. I had fun. It was something else I had fantasies about…being an actress. I guess those classes came in handy. I do pretend to be someone I am not ….more times than I can count now." She laughed again and laughed along with her. She loved moments like this. They were just Lee and Amanda…two best friends having a nice conversation.

He grinned at her and asked "So, you really aren't gonna tell me what you are planning on wearing on our date on Friday?" He winked at her and flashed his best Stetson smile. She was trying to be so good and not react to that smile. It was getting harder and harder to resist the dimples. She figured he knew that too.

She rolled her eyes at him "Lee, you will just have to wait and see."

"I know I know….its a need to know and I guess it's above my clearance, huh? Even though I am the senior agent in this partnership?"

Amanda nodded. "Exactly. Just think of the surprise you will have on Friday. You can wait a few more days." She glanced over at him and the color rose in her cheeks again. He loves making me blush. Oh he's driving me crazy! Just kiss me already Stetson! She sighed as he parked the car and reached over and took both of her hands. He took a deep breath and smiled at her.

"Well, I think that no matter what you wear I know that you will be beautiful. I hope we can get this case finished fast….. because I am looking forward to our date!"

She smiled at him and nodded. Amanda knew he wasn't ready to kiss her…just yet. But she remembered that teasing him would be fun ,so she leaned over and kissed his cheek. "I am looking forward to it as well. More than I can tell you."

She jumped out of the car and left Lee sitting there with his mouth open. She headed into the theater and laughed to herself. Lee just needs a little push here and there. I think it will be fun teasing him. It's just so easy. Amanda got out her script and headed up to the stage. She needed to focus on her assignment and thoughts of Lee disappeared for a little while.
