"Enwy, wiww u mawwy me?" 3-yr-old Dani's blue eyes pleaded with Henry's
gray ones. She has been happily sitting and bouncing on the 8-yr-old
Prince's lap when, to his surprise and amusement, Dani had popped the
question.
His Royal Highness and his parents the King and Queen of France had come for a visit to de Barbarac manor. Their Majesties Marie and Francois de Valois have been the best of friends with Dani's parents Le Comte August and La Comtesse Nicole de Barbarac. There even has been talk of an arranged marriage between Prince Henry and Danielle when she turns 21. Both sets of parents are immensely pleased with the idea of their precious ones uniting to bring them even more closely by becoming one family.
Dani, however, has no clue about their parents' plan. Her question was brought on by her adoration of the young Prince, so naturally she assumed they would be together forever. As an only child, Henry's visits brought excitement to Dani's lonely life. To give credit, Henry is fast becoming a gentleman filled with compassion at such an early age. He did not indulge Dani just because it was his duty to see that she is well cared for, he actually adores her in return. He treats her as the little sister he never has and would love to have.
Sadly, many years of happiness would soon change to bitterness and heartache. 18-yr-old Henry headed out to war just before 13-yr-old Dani lost her mother to a heart attack.
