 "Crimson Shadows"

I never dreamed I would sink so far into my past of crimson shadows.  I was born into the icy winds of rejection and thrown into the flames of living hell below.  Black fire consumed what little heart had been left to wither and death became a close and welcomed friend.  But the darkness that I accepted with charred yet open arms also rejected me and threw me back into the stormy winds of the life I wished to leave behind.  My existence remained one of solitude and darkness and although it was welcome death was not a part of the course my life would take.

I always welcomed the darkness and silence that death would bring but why does it come for me when life has finally presented me with the acceptance I've longed for since my birth?

No air reaches my lungs thou I'm surrounded by it.  I float above the water gasping for the air that is almost tangible around me but it avoids my grasp and floats into the water beneath me.  It feeds the memories I had always strived to forget, making me relive them as thoughts of the happiness I had finally discovered was drowned in the tides of reawakened regret and the betrayal that flowed throughout my short lifetime.  A drop of blood falls into the water followed by many more that colors the water with crimson ripples.

Is it because I finally fight the inevitable??  Ice runs down my already frigid shine as realization hits me hard.  I had never resisted my old friend in out long relationship; perhaps I had given in to his game and made chasing me boring.

Smoke filled my lungs and it rose from the blood stained waters below.  The waters of battle still dripping with my dragon's hunger; would the black fires of my mere existence be my next torment before leaving this lonesome plane.

As the black flames began to rise from the waters, mixing the smoke that already hung in a mist-like state above the crimson liquid, I released my resentment and surrendered to the darkness.

KB- You don't actually think I'd kill my favorite character do you?  He doesn't get off that easy.  R+R
