Hello guys. It's me, Jan Mark D. Gestuveo. I am a Filipino writer, and a metalhead who loves bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Kreator and more thrash metal bands and this is my first Justice League fiction. So, if there's any of you expert DC fanfiction writers, feel free to write constructive criticism in this story. I was inspired to do this after reading LOTSlover's BMWW fanfictions. This story is an AU, in which Oliver Queen is Ian's best friend and his bandmate for a long time (Well yes, Oliver's going to be Green Arrow here and the brothers didn't meet him until the 70s though. So yeah).

Update: 7/31/22 - I decided to change the timeline a bit so instead in the 50s or the 40s, it's gonna be in the 30s. So yeah.

Warning: Lemons. I decided to drop the underage sex on the original chapter. Also, I've decided not to go any more into the love scene just yet because it's just backstory. We're not into the main plot yet. FFS, Jan Mark. You can do better than this.

Sorry for the self rant I made. It's that my original version of the story sucks...

Anyway, I do not own any DC characters mentioned in this story. I only own my characters and this plot.

With that being said, let's just dive into the backstory of the Ericson brothers, Ian and James. And this is also basically the beginning of the band Militia. ENJOY.

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS

Decade(s): 1930s - 1950s

Ian Henry David Ericson was born on January 1st, 1938 in Boston, Massachusetts, the oldest son of Anthony John Thomas Ericson (born: January 7th, 1917), a classical and a rock and roll guitarist and Victoria Isabella Ericson (née. Miller) (born: October 10th, 1917), an opera singer. He is of English and Scandinavian descent. He has a younger brother named James Geoffrey Harold Ericson (later, Sr.) (born: November 20th, 1942). He, along with his brother, was born in a musical family (Ya don't say, Jan Mark...). Their father, Anthony John was the oldest son out of 5 from Thomas Bruce William Ericson (born: January 10, 1889) and Clarissa Suzanne Ericson (née. Laynes) (born: September 3, 1890). As he was also the only child of Thomas Bruce and Clarissa to have children, since all of his younger siblings, John Mark (born: March 25, 1919), Samantha Nord (born: December 18, 1920), Rachel Karen (born: November 15, 1923), and Vincent Mario (born: September 23, 1925) are either childless by choice or they have infertility problems. Ian and James were both prodigies at their age. They both master classical guitar at a very young age. They're also fans of artists like Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Hank Williams, Ella Fitzgerald, The Andrew Sisters, Billie Holiday, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and The Mills Brothers. They also shared a love for sports like basketball and soccer (people outside the U.S. called this football). They have been really popular in their school due to their skills in music and playing classical orchestras. By the time the brothers were in their teens in the 50s, they had girlfriends early on because of their skills in music. Ian's got Diana Smith (born: January 3rd, 1938). They have been secretly dating since around 1952. James got Charlene Davidson (born: February 13th, 1943). They were secretly dating around 1957. As teenagers as well, the brothers grew really tall. Ian grew into 6'9" while James grew into 6'7". That's because the brothers, just like their father, have a condition called gigantism, where their heights would go up very quickly and abnormaly. These brothers have been playing acoustics and classical guitars for a really long time even in the 50s where electric guitars have been surging in popularity at this point. At this point of time also, they're now fans of big rock artists like Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and The Crickets, and Link Wray.

Then by 1956, things changed once again for the Ericson family. But this time, it was because of Ian. In March of the same year, Ian and his now longtime girlfriend Diana were just walking around the park and after they got home, they went to Ian's bedroom and started kissing. They took out their clothes and started making out with one another. It went for 2 hours and it was not just sex but also passionate love for one another. After their lovemaking, they both fell asleep. Diana lay in his bed snuggled up against Ian, using his bed as a pillow. Not knowing that this is the beginning of a new life to the Ericson family.

Shortly after they woke up, they went to breakfast. They both go to college at Berklee College of Music as this was also their sophomore year and everything went normal. It was until weeks later that Diana had bad headaches and she fell on the floor. Her parents and her younger siblings called 911 and rushed her into the hospital and that's where they learned that The Smiths' oldest daughter was pregnant. Her father was furious that she was impregnated early on and immediately called Ian angrily that her daughter was pregnant and they would discuss this with Ian's family. Ian groaned because he knew this would happen because during their lovemaking, he didn't use a condom and it's already too late to put it in. So, he knew that he would get Diana pregnant. Also, Ian was scared now because he didn't know how to be a father and he was concerned whether or not he'll be a great father, plus college. Ian didn't know what to do now, but he needs to be ready about all of this when he gets home. When he got home later on, he was greeted by his family, his girlfriend and her family. It was awkward to say the least. The talk lasted for an hour. It ended well and luckily Diana's father didn't punch him in the face for what he did to his daughter. Ian decided to be a father after a long talk. For the next 9 months, Ian's got to learn how to deal with a pregnant lady. From mood swings to food cravings, it may be a living hell but it was worth it for him because he's going to be a father. They also found out that they were having a boy, so they decorated Ian's room with the color blue. Also, pointing out that Diana had also moved in with Ian as well so they can get through parenthood together. Their lives went normal and all until that day happened.

On the early morning of January 18th, 1957, just 17 days after a new year emerged, Diana's water broke and they rushed into the hospital. Ian was really nervous and he's shaken about what would happen to Diana but in the end, he was happy. Nine hours of labor and two hours of pushing, their baby boy born healthy and well. Ian Edward Anthony Ericson weighed around 9lbs or around 4 kg. He was a blessing to both of his parents and they couldn't ask for more. Then by April of the same year was when he decided to propose to her to get married, which she accepted. Then she got pregnant again with their second child.

Then by March 9th, 1958, in came Ian and Diana's second son Brian Tyler David Ericson, who was born in the same hospital as their oldest son. He was also a healthy baby and again, they're so happy that luck was on their side.

Also in 1958, there were two guitars designed by a big guitar manufacturer from Gibson that piqued the interest of the brothers, the Flying V and the Explorer. The designs were absolutely beautiful to the brothers' eyes and decided to buy them as their first electric guitars in their lives.

So, the brothers went from Massachusetts to Memphis just so they could buy those guitars. Ian bought a Gibson Flying V for $250, while James bought a Gibson Explorer (which back in 1958, only 19 were made) for $300. Then they go to another guitar store so they can buy guitar amplifiers, which costs them $200 each. After that they went home, plugged in these new guitars, with their amplifiers and started playing. They then introduced the guitars to their girlfriends and they were loving it. And the boys knew, there was no turning back. These guitars change their lives, forever. The Flying V would be Ian's number 1 guitar, mainly because of its look but also how he loved the sound that comes with it through an amp.

Then on January 27th, 1959, Ian and Diana got married at Old North Church in Boston. It was the happiest day in the couple's life. Every family member in both of the couple's relatives were invited. Ian's parents, grandparents and his younger brother, James were there and Diana's parents, grandparents and her 4 younger brothers were there as well. The wedding went really well, they were having fun, and another blessing has come to the couple for a year after their very big day. By now, Ian and Diana already got the hang of being parents and they were happy.

1959 was a crazy year not just for Ian's life but also for Diana's life as well. At 21 years old, they're both married, Diana's now Mrs. Ericson, they have two sons with one on the way a few months after, which they love and adore so much, and they both graduate at Berklee College of Music, both of them have Bachelor's degree in Music. Then, a few months later on July 28th, 1959 came their third son, Josh Adam Isaac Ericson, also was born on the same hospital as the older two.

Decade: 1960s

A year later, on October 31st, 1960, Diana again gave birth to Ian and Diana's 4th child, George Leo Maynard Ericson. (Wow. They really want a big family real fast, huh?). And finally on December 28, 1961, three days after Christmas, Diana gave birth to their youngest son, Bruce Damien Victor Ericson.

Now, it's not just Ian that had a crazy life, James also has one. By the same year, he graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor's degree in Music as well. He also proposed to his girlfriend Charlene and they got married on February 19th, 1963 but instead of getting married at Old North Church just like Ian and Diana's wedding, they wed at Old South Church instead. Same as Ian's wedding, it also went really well. It was one of James' happiest moments in life. Coincidentally enough, it was also revealed that Charlene is pregnant with their first baby. Of course, they congratulate them. James was surprised about this because firstly, they were so young and second, he expected that this was going to ruin their happy day but it didn't and he was happy for that.

Also, quick to mention that the brothers grew exponentially tall at this point. Ian grew to 8'3" (2.52m) while James grew to 8'0" (2.43m). These guys are giants, literally. And the fact they can walk with no problems due to their height was something of a miracle.

Then on Christmas day again in the same year of 1963, Charlene's water broke and James knew that the day had come and rushed to the hospital immediately. James was extremely nervous about what would happen for Charley and their baby. Thankfully, he has his older brother to comfort and everything will be fine. Nine hours of labor and two hours of pushing, in came James and Charlene's first baby was born and it was a baby boy. Peter Edison Samuel Ericson was a healthy boy and he was really special since this is also the baby's first Christmas as well. It was one of the greatest blessings of the couple's life.

At this point also, the brothers want to move out from their home state. After days of planning, they decided to reside in San Francisco, California. They pack all of their stuff, including guitars, bass, amps, etc. The plane trip went for about 5 hours and afterwards, they landed safely at the San Francisco Airport.

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

Decade: 1960s

As they finally reside in San Francisco, the brothers and their families went to explore the things that this city was known for. The Golden Gate Bridge, the hippie movement and the parks and beaches around it. It was really a fun experience. Also at this point, the brothers went to explore new music artists because they don't want to be stuck in the past and always want for more. They're now fans of rock artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, The Kinks, Dick Dale and many more. Knowing that they have too many children, Diana finally decided to get hysterectomy, turning her infertile so she can prevent any more pregnancies. Also, Ian bought condoms for the first time so that he couldn't get STI infections. He decided not to get a vasectomy because Diana already got her uterus removed. Then by October 17th of 1965, James and Charlene's second son was born and his name is Richard Roy Freddy Ericson. This is also the point where the brothers have to get jobs in order for the family to stay together and strong. They decided to get jobs at a music store near their new hometowns, which they love and Diana went on to become a music teacher in San Francisco Conservatory of Music and that's basically how their lives went for a short period of time.

Decade: 1970s

As the new decade comes, the brothers' lives were really well. They have enough to keep them alive for a really long time. Ian Henry taught all of his children how to play guitars since music has been a real huge part in the family's life. Also, the oldest of the children, Ian Edward, was taught how to play the piano by his mother as well since they bought a piano around February of 1970. Then by July of 1970, the brothers went to a record store and asked what's new to the table. The store owner went to grab what's the newest music out there. He came back with "Black Sabbath'' by "Black Sabbath". The brothers were really intrigued by the album cover and the storeowner said this is probably the heaviest thing that he has ever heard. The brothers' interest peaked because they have actually found what's the heaviest music ever since they bought the Beatles' White Album that was released two years prior. So they bought the album, they went to Ian's house, the brothers were greeted by Ian's wife and children, went to their record player, put the vinyl on and played the album. The store owner wasn't lying. It was so heavy. They particularly loved the two songs: "Black Sabbath '' and''N.I.B . This music was never heard of before and the boys knew there was no coming back. They were such big fans of this band. They may have finally done it. They may have found the heaviest music ever. In fact, James loved N.I.B. so much that he changed from guitar to bass because of the bass intro of the song. His first bass was a 1962 Fender Jazz Bass and he bought a Fender Bassman. He also bought some overdrive pedals for his bass. He doesn't like his bass tone to be clean. He wants a dirty bass tone so bought a Big Muff and a Dunlop Crybaby Wah Pedal for $450 in total. It's not just Black Sabbath that they've discovered. They also discovered Deep Purple through their first 4 albums, From "Shades of Deep Purple" to "Deep Purple in Rock" and Led Zeppelin through their first 2 albums "Led Zeppelin and Led Zeppelin II". In fact, these three bands are basically the brothers' favorite artists for now.

Then by September of the same year when they found out that Black Sabbath was back with a new record, the boys went to the same record store where they bought Black Sabbath's debut album and asked the store owner if they had Black Sabbath's new album. Luck is certainly on the brothers' side because the store owner has the new album. It was called "Paranoid" and they bought it, listened to the album and just like debut, they love this album. They loved it so much that they even introduced Black Sabbath to their children and just loving this album. And this when they find out that this genre if music is called "heavy metal". This is also the point where the brothers decided to make a band that is similar to Black Sabbath's sound but Americanized. They decided to name the band Militia on and formed on October 25th, 1970. In order to get the band to be complete, they have first auditioning for drummers that basically a fan of this new genre called "heavy metal". They have auditioned 12 drummers to jam with them and play but none of them make the brothers really satisfied until a 30 year old guy from Sacramento named William Kirk Johnson (born: July 15, 1940). He was the last out of the 12 drummers and he's also the oldest. When it was his time to play with the brothers, it was really good and the brothers knew that they have found their drummer. So they hired him. And after that they went to audition for lead guitar players because Ian wants to sing and play and solos are basically too much of a work for him so, Ian's just sticking with being a rhythm guitar player and James is the bassist. Just like the last time, they auditioned 12 guitar players to jam and play but again, none of the players make the brothers satisfied until the last person showed up. He's a 29 year old guy from Starling City named Oliver Queen. The three members were shocked and surprised by this because they knew he was the son of a billionaire family, they also knew that he and his young son got shipwrecked and survived but they never knew that Oliver's gonna come up and jam with them. So, they went in, jammed for a few songs and the brothers were so lucky to have him because he was SO good. After the jam, Oliver asked if they wanted to jam more. But the brothers just said that he got the job. Finally, the band was definitely a new era for not just for the brothers but also for William and Oliver and their success was at their doorstep.

So there you go, the new version of Ian and James' backstory. It's also the formation of the band Militia. Hope you guys enjoy reading this one. I'm changing Oliver's backstory in this as well. And I'm also putting William Johnson's backstory as well, from his birth to the time he joined Militia.

Guys, I'm really sorry that I always change the timeline of this story. I'm not really satisfied with the outcome and I'm getting sick and tired of changing the timeline. This will be the final version of the story and I won't change this one ever again.

Please, leave a review on this. If you enjoy this one, then leave a positive review. If you have some problems regarding this story, leave a constructive criticism in this one, whether it's the grammar or the spelling or maybe even the plot.

Since I'm changing the plot, I'm also changing the year formation of the Justice League. Instead of forming in the 80s like I originally intended, I'm changing into the 70s as well. Specifically, around 1972. So again, the original members of the Justice League are really old by the 21st century. There, this is a spoiler for you guys.

Also, here's the birthdate of Ian and Diana's children:

- Ian Edward Anthony Ericson (born: January 18th, 1957)

- Brian Tyler David Ericson (born: March 9th, 1958)

- Josh Adam Isaac Ericson (born: July 28th, 1959)

- George Leo Maynard Ericson (born: October 31st, 1960)

- Bruce Damien Victor Ericson (born: December 28th, 1961)

And here's the birthdate of James and Charlene's children:

- Peter Edison Samuel Ericson (born: December 25th, 1963)

- Richard Roy Freddy Ericson (born: October 17th, 1965)

Again, I hope you enjoy reading this chapter and I will see you in the next chapter where we look at Oliver's backstory. From birth, to where he got his young son, getting shipwrecked and survived, and finally, joining Militia.

And as always,

THRASH 'TILL DEATH!
