Maye didn't know when she realized it, but at some point, she knew that the parents that had raised her were not her real parents. She could see that she had a completely different appearance from the both of them with their stout bodies, tan skin, and dark hair and eyes. Her appearance was the complete opposite. She had blonde hair, green eyes, and a tall, lean physique. Being seventeen years old, she began to do some research. On a day when both her parents were working, Maye decided to sneak in to her parents' office to look through their files. Looking at her birth certificate, she was confused as to why both spots meant for her parents' names were left completely blank. She continued looking through files and folders, finding a certificate of adoption. She looked at the name on the paper and realized it was hers. She found paperwork that was signed by her parents and two names that she had never seen before. "Who are Emilie and Gabriel Agreste," she asked herself. She saw that the location of the adoption was Paris, France. "It's no wonder I always leaned towards French in school," she whispered. Her teachers had always congratulated her on how quickly she picked up and spoke French. After eight years of French lessons, Maye was proficient in both French and English. Maye took all the paperwork and placed the folders back in place in the filing cabinet, ready to find out the truth behind her parents. She made her way to her room and quickly made her way to her laptop. She typed in her biological mother's name into Google, which led her to finding articles about a missing woman. Her husband, Gabriel Agreste, was a fashion tycoon who ran one of the largest fashion houses in the world. And they had a son, Adrien Agreste, who was eighteen years old. Maye sat there for a moment, looking at the boy who had the same face as her, the same color hair, the same eyes. She knew, he was her biological brother. After finishing up her research, she decided that she would wait until the next day to confront her parents with the information that she learned.

Hours passed until the time came for Maye to confront her parents. With paperwork in hand, she sat down for lunch. Her parents' eyes were drawn to the papers in her hand. "So, I found some interesting information out yesterday. I'm adopted, right?" Her mother looked at her with a sad look before saying, "Yes, dear. You are adopted." Maye asked, "Why would you have kept this from me?" So, her parents explained about their troubles having a child. With her biological mother having been very sick during her pregnancy, she felt like raising another child would be too much. So, she found a loving couple to take care of her child. Her parents had signed a contract stating that they were not allowed to talk about the adoption unless Maye found out by other means. After talking for some time, Maye brought out another paper. "My school is funding a study abroad program and I am one of their perfect candidates. Could I look into it and see if I could study for my last two years in Paris?" Her parents looked a little concerned but gave their consent, knowing it was what their daughter truly wanted.

A few weeks later, paperwork came in the mail, along with a letter from the family that would be temporarily housing Maye in Paris. She would be attending Collège Françoise Dupont with their daughter Marinette Dupain-Chang. Sabine and Tom had both written short letters to her about how excited they were to house Maye throughout her schooling. They wrote about the bakery they ran underneath their apartment and even said she could work their if she wanted some pay while she was in schooling. Maye began to get excited at this once in a lifetime opportunity and finished the last steps to retrieve her plane tickets. She readily packed her bags with all that she could fit, collected the money that she had been saving, and prepared herself to go to the airport. Her parents drove her to the airport, giving her tight hugs before she left. Her mother shed a few tears as her baby girl walked through the gates to board the plane that would take her overseas. Her father held her mother close, yelling out, "Make sure to call us every night. We love you, baby girl." Maye blew them a kiss and walked through the terminal towards the plane that she was boarding. After boarding the plane, Maye propped her head back against the seat, preparing to get a few hours of sleep. She did for a few hours until something bizarre happened. It seemed they had entered France's airspace when a giant blue gorilla had appeared out of nowhere and has thrown something at their plane. Maye could not believe the sight as two figures in red and black were fighting the giant. The plane was going down, which made Maye queasy. Then, a giant green orb seemed to envelope the plane as a man in what looked to be a turtle suit appeared near the plane. The plane hit the ground somewhat smoothly. Then, as if magic happened the giant gorilla vanished, the woman in red and black yelled something as she threw in an object into the air. The plane was then on the runway at the airport in Paris.

Everyone was guided off the plane and given their luggage. Maye quickly walked towards the area where drivers were waiting for their passengers before she found a large man, a small Asian woman, and a young girl holding up a sign with her name on it. "Are you alright, dear? We heard that akuma took down your plane," the woman she knew from the letters as Sabine asked. "Yes. Everyone seemed to be fine. Things were a little crazy for a moment. But I do want to know, what was that thing?" "You haven't heard about Ladybug, Chat Noir, and their fight against Hawkmoth," the man she knew as Tom asked. "No, I've never heard of them. Are they magical?" "I'm sure Marinette can explain it better. Her best friend is the main reporter for the Ladyblog, so I'm sure she has all the information. Isn't that right, Marinette?" "Yes, that's right. It's so good to meet you. I'm Marinette. I will be going to school with you for the next year." She held out a hand towards Maye, which she shook. "It's nice to meet you all. I'm so excited for this program. I was so interested in Paris for a long time. I never thought I would actually end up here. The chance to live here for a while is amazing." "We are more than happy to house you during your schooling. Now, our bakery is just down the street. Are you okay with walking a short distance," Sabine asked. "Yes ma'am," Maye replied, wheeling up her luggage. Tom took the duffle bag from her shoulder and said, "I can carry this heavy bag for you. It's less than a mile." "Thank you, Mr. Dupain." "Please, call me Tom." "And call me, Sabine, dear. You will be our guest after all." Maye nodded and began to walk behind the older couple beside Marinette. "So, Marinette. Can you tell me about your school, friends? I'm so nervous to start tomorrow." Marinette excitedly pulled out her phone and began to show Maye pictures of the school and her friends. She paused on a picture of Adrien and began to talk about him first. Maye asked, "You know Adrien Agreste?" "Yes, why? Do you know him?" "No. I've heard of him before. There is actually a secret reason I wanted to come to Paris. Can I trust you not to tell anyone until I meet your friends and talk to them?" "Why? Is it something bad?" "I'm the sister of Adrien Agreste. My parents are Gabriel and Emilie Agreste." Marinette looked a bit flabbergasted, not speaking. Then, she promptly decided to faint.

Her parents had not noticed as Maye caught the unconscious girl. She fell to the ground as Maye lowered her. As she did, her purse fell open and a weird creature fell out of the bag. Maye gasped and asked, "What are you?" "I'm Tikki. You aren't supposed to know about me, but I'm Ladybug's kwami. I help her turn into Ladybug. Please don't tell Marinette you saw me. She will be very upset. Also, I really like sweets. Bye, now," she said, flying back into the bag. Maye snapped the bag shut as she shook Marinette. Her parents noticed as they looked back that Marinette was on the ground unconscious. A girl with red hair and a boy with tan skin and a baseball cap ran over as well. Finally, Marinette came to and asked, "What happened?" She took one look at Maye and yelled, "You're Adrien Agreste's sister!" The girl and boy who had come over gasped as they looked at Maye. "Girl, we need to talk," she said to Marinette. "I'm Marinette's best friend, Alya and this is my boyfriend, Nino. He is actually best friends with Adrien," she said offering a hand. Maye shook it and turned to the boy who said, "What up, dudette?" "I'm sorry. I didn't mean for the news to come out like that," Marinette said. "And I didn't expect you to faint," Maye said. Marinette stood from the ground and brushed herself off. "Girl, this one has the biggest crush on him. Now, we need to call him over to the bakery to talk with you, though. Does he know?" Maye shook her head and said, "I just found out he is my older brother a few weeks ago." Alya started to text someone as the group started walking towards the bakery. She said, "Message sent. He will be at the bakery in about thirty minutes." Marinette squeaked and said, "The bakery? Oh my gosh. Let's go. I need to get some passion fruit macaroons out."

The group finished their walk to the bakery and followed Tom and Sabine up the steps. Sabine gave Maye a tour of the apartment before showing her the room she would be staying in. "It's beach themed," Maye said. "Your parents told me how much you love the beach. I decorated according to that. I hope it's alright." Maye hugged her and said, "It's perfect. Thank you." "I'll let you get settled. Me and Tom are going to reopen the bakery. Let Marinette know if you need anything." Maye nodded and placed her bags to the side. She grabbed out the envelope and made her way back to the living room where the other three teens were sat. She sat and asked, "How long until he is here?" Just then, Sabine shouted, "Marinette, Adrien is here. I'm sending him up." He walked through the door a few seconds later and Maye couldn't believe the resemblance. It was like looking in a mirror. Everyone said their greetings. Finally, Adrien turned to Maye and said, "You must be Maye. Marinette has told me a lot about you. It's nice to meet you." "It's nice to meet you, too." "So, Alya, why did you call me here? You said it was urgent," Adrien asked. Alya nodded at Maye and said, "It's news concerning you and Maye actually." Adrien turned and said, "We've never met before." Maye opened the envelope and pulled out the paperwork with his parents' names on it. She handed it to him and said, "I found this while going through my parents' files. I found out I'm adopted from Paris. My biological parents are also your biological parents. So, you are my brother." Adrien looked over the paperwork, looking at Maye and back at the paper. He then pulled her into a hug. "I have a sister. A sister I never knew about." He turned and yelled, "How could my parents do this? It makes no sense. I could've grown up with a little sister." Maye said, "I don't know. I wish I did. But I'm glad we finally got to meet. We just have seventeen years of catching up to do." So, the group sat and began to talk about themselves. They told stories from the past, talked about hobbies, careers, friends. Maye felt accepted by everyone and was glad she found her brother. The next step would be a confrontation with Adrien's father, which she wasn't looking forward to.
