Chapter 1: Prologue

Disclaimer: I don't own either of the Franchises. All characters belong to either Type-Moon or DC.

All I remember from that day was the fire. I remember wandering in what seemed like an endless sea of fire, filled with nothing but death and carnage. I wanted someone to save me from this, so I kept walking through the fire as buildings around me burned and crumbled apart. As I walked, I didn't dare to look anywhere around me because through the endless sea of fire, I could hear screams and cries of others around me, desperately begging for anyone to save them.

"Someone please, save me."

"It hurts, it hurts."

"Help me, I don't want to die."

"Mom, dad, help me."

I tried to ignore their desperate cries and continue moving forward, as the voices all slowly drowned away in the burning flames. I kept telling myself that there was nothing I could have done to save them, so I needed to keep moving in order not to get caught in the fire.

But no matter how many times I told myself this, not being able to do anything for the people trapped in the fire, when I was still able to move and do something, hurt me just as much as the flames around me. But the only thing I could do was hold back my tears and look for a way out.

Eventually it became too much for me and I fell. I tried getting up, but I couldn't muster the strength to keep moving anymore, so I turned myself on my back and waited for the end.

But as I laid on the scorching earth, staring at the sky. I wondered, why did all of this happen? Why didn't anyone try to help? Why were we forced to go through all of this?"

"…nii-chan? Onii-chan?"

Then I closed my eyes, waiting for the fire to take me like so many others. I waited and waited, but nothing happened. Confused, I opened my eyes and I saw it. A golden helmet was floating above me, and it shined a light that pushed the fire away from me.

The helmet would then turn to face me. "Tell me boy, do you wish for the power to stop all of this?"

I couldn't understand what was happening anymore. First there was this fire and now a voice was speaking in my head. But if it could stop all of this then I… I…

"Onii-chan? Shirou, wake up? W-wait Liz don…"

SMACK!

As Shirou woke up, he was laying on his futon groaning in pain, as two girls were standing over him. Both of them had white hair and red eyes. The younger one, was his little sister Illya. The older one with the shorter hair is Leysritt or Liz, a friend of his parents who lived with them.

Shirou blinked a couple times before sitting up to look at the two girls. It was then that he saw Liz holding onto a large paper fan.

"Why did you guys hit me?" Shirou whined as he held his head.

When asked this, Illya would give her brother an apologetic look. "I'm sorry onii-chan, I tried to wake you up but no matter what I did you just wouldn't get up. So, Liz decided to hit you." Illya tried to explain to her brother, before they both turned to Liz.

In return, Liz would stare at them with her usual blank expression. "Sella said to wake you up, so I woke you up."

Shirou would be left confused when the both of them told him this. "Why are you two waking me up so early? School doesn't start until later on."

"Onii-chan, did you forget? Today you're supposed to start practicing with your club." Illya reminded him. "Sakura is already waiting for you downstairs."

It took a moment for Shirou to understand everything that Illya had just said, as he was still a little bit sleepy. But as soon as he did, Shirou quickly threw off his blanket, grabbed his school uniform from his closet, and ran into the bathroom.

As he got into the bathroom, he quickly brushed his teeth and tried to fix his auburn hair, before making his way downstairs with his bag. There he would see a few people. In the kitchen Shirou could see his childhood friend Sakura, a violet-haired girl dressed in a brown school uniform and Stella, who has features similar to Illya, both working in the kitchen.

While in the living room he saw his dad, Kiritsugu Emiya in a gray Yukata, sitting on the couch. It seems he was watching the news talk about something. As Shirou heard what the News was talking about, he would also take an interest in it as well.

"In other news, people around the world have been reported to be found in different locations with no memories of what happened to them."

"That's right Linda. But not much is known about these strange occurrences. The only things that we know are from what the people in the reports have said. In every report they all say that they were walking before they blacked out and wake up when others find them."

"Well, whatever the reason behind these occurrences, they don't seem to have caused any problems to the people, but city officials have warned people to avoid suspicious areas and make sure to not travel alone when it's dark."

As the news went on to talk about something else, Shirou seemed worried but wouldn't get to think too much on this as Kiritsugu would soon notice him. "Shirou, did you just get up?"

"Yeah, sorry I didn't think that I would stay up so late last night." Shirou replied.

"Sigh. You should leave cooking and the other chores to your mom and I, when Stella's not home." Kiritsugu tried to tell his son.

When Shirou heard this, he felt a shiver go down his back at the thought of leaving the house chores to his parents. He remembered when his parents first adopted him and tried cooking. His dad managed to completely burn everything, while his mom Irisviel, well he didn't know what she did to the food, but it certainly wasn't edible.

But that wasn't the only reason why Shirou didn't want his dad doing too much. The other reason is because his dad wasn't in the best condition. This is because ten years ago, when Shirou was stuck in the middle of the fire that had broken out in Fuyuki, Kiritsugu had saved him but was injured by the fire when trying to do so, or at least that's what everyone says. Irisviel has said that ever since that day, Kiritsugu hasn't been able to do as much as he used to.

"Dad, I'll be fine. I'm just going to need to do them faster. So, don't worry about it." Shirou assured his dad.

With this Kiritsugu would give up and agree to his son. Knowing how Shirou is, Kiritsugu knew that once his son set his mind on something then there wasn't much anyone could do to stop him. So, he turned to watch the news again, while Shirou would make his way into the kitchen.

"Hi Sakura." Shirou greeted his friend.

"Oh, hello senpai." Sakura replied. "Did you just get up?"

Shirou would scratch the back of his head in embarrassment as he explains everything to her. "Yeah, sorry. I stood up a little later than I intended to and completely forgot about clubs. Sorry about having to make you wait."

"It's fine senpai. I don't mind waiting. Plus, it gave me some time to make you lunch." Sakura assured Shirou as she handed him a bento.

But Sella wouldn't be as forgiving. "Well, I for one am not okay with this. Shirou, please try to get up on time, so you don't waste Ms Matou's time.

Shirou could only laugh nervously at Sella before he and Sakura left his house to go to school.

As the two of them walk to school, Shirou and Sakura would talk among themselves about the things that they expect to happen with their club today. Until Shirou suddenly remembered something important.

"So, Sakura is your uncle doing better?" Shirou asked his childhood friend.

"Yes, he's doing better." Sakura answered, before smiling at him.

Shirou nods his head in acknowledgement but despite this, he was still worried about her uncle. This is because like his dad, Sakura's uncle Kariya Matou, was injured during the fire that took place ten years ago. However, her uncle's condition is far worse. Shirou didn't know why but her uncle couldn't walk properly and had lost the use of his left arm. Half of his face also seemed disfigured.

After this, the two of them would go on to talk about more lighthearted things as they slowly made their way to school and before they knew it, they were already at the entrance.

"Emiya!?"

But they wouldn't get much further into the school before another student came up to them. He has dark blue hair and wears glasses. This is the student council president Issei Ryuudou, a friend of Shirou.

"Issei, what's wrong?" Shirou questioned his friend.

"Emyia, I know that you have archery practice, but I was hoping that you could help me with some stuff?" Issei asks.

Being who Shirou was, he didn't refuse this. "Yeah, I can help. Sakura, can you tell the others that I might not make it today."

But when Sakura heard this, she would try to warn Shirou about the consequences of missing clubs. "Senpai, you know that Mitsuzuri isn't going to be happy about you missing the first day of practice, right?"

Shirou thought about this for a second before speaking. "I know, but I can't turn down a friend when they're asking for help."

Seeing that she couldn't change his mind, Sakura eventually gave up. "Okay senpai, then I'll see you later."

With that said, Sakura went to the archery club, while Shirou followed Issei up into the school building. Where he was led into one of the rooms. In that room Issei took him to a heater.

"It's the heaters again, Emiya. We would replace them but as you know the athletic clubs are the ones that get most of the school's budget which leaves the other clubs with barely anything. So, as you can already tell, the rooms and equipment are in poor repair." Issei explains as he encourages Shirou to take a look. "So, I was hoping that you could give it a look and see if you can do anything about it."

"Yeah sure, just let me open it up and see if I can find the problems." Shirou said as he went to the heater.

"Alright, then I'll leave it to you. I would probably get in your way, so I'll wait outside for you to finish." Issei told Shirou, before leaving the room and closing the door.

When Issei was gone Shirou would sit on the floor before using a screwdriver to open the heater. He would then place his hand on the heater and focus as he sent an energy pulse through it. With this Shirou was able to pinpoint the problem with the heater. It turns out that there were two spots of the heater that were going to break. So, to fix this he grabs some electrical tape to temporarily hold it together until he could get something to permanently fix it.

As Shirou was about to finish with the heater, he would hear Issei suddenly speak out. "T-Tohsaka!? What are you doing here so early?"

"Well, if it isn't the student council president, it seems you're still as diligent as ever." A voice answers him. "But to answer your question, I just felt like coming here so I came."

As the two continued to talk, Shirou would pick up the heater and bring it to the door. Then as he opened the door, he would interrupt their conversation. "Issei, I fixed it."

As Issei heard this, he would quickly collect himself before going to Shirou. "Oh, thanks Emiya."

"Are any other heaters having any problems?" Shirou asks.

Issei would tell Shirou about the other rooms that were experiencing troubles with their heaters. But as he was speaking, Shirou would take a quick glance at the person Issei was talking to. While Shirou knew who Rin Tohsaka was, he never really spoke or interacted with her. So, as he took a good look at her, he found Rin to be a little cute. She has brown hair that was in a two-side-up style. She wore the school's female uniform, but she was also wearing a red coat over it.

But Rin didn't seem like she was interested in what Issei was saying so she casually went somewhere else. But before she did Shirou would say a few words to her. "You're here early, Tohsaka."

When Rin heard this, she would take a glance at Shirou before continuing to where she was going.

As the day went on Shirou would find that he didn't have any more time for clubs and went straight to class with Issei. Then as class came to an end, he would find himself going to have lunch. But as he was preparing to go eat, he was suddenly smacked on the back. As Shirou felt this, he would turn around and see Ayako Mitsuzuri and she did not look happy.

"Emiya, where were you during practice?" She questioned him.

Immediately after hearing this, Shirou would do his best to explain things to her. "Oh, well Issei needed help with a problem so…"

"And you think that's a good reason for you to miss out on the first day of practice." Ayako snapped at him. "Emiya, you're our club's ace, so what kind of message do you think it'll send to the new members when our ace doesn't show up for the first day of practice?"

After Ayako said this, Shirou would struggle to come up with an answer as she glared at him. But as he was thinking, Shirou saw something that caught his attention. Ayako would get mad when she saw Shirou get distracted and was going to say something to him, until she saw what he was looking at.

Both Rin and Sakura had just met each other in the hallway. They didn't do anything but stand across from each other, in an awkward silence. This lasted until Sakura quickly excused herself and made her way to the cafeteria. It wouldn't be long until Rin left as well and went up the stairs.

When both Rin and Sakura were gone, Ayako would make a comment on what just happened. "That happens every time they meet."

Shirou seemed surprised when he heard this. "Do you know why?"

"No. All I know is that the two of them were apparently very close when they were younger, but something happened and now they're like this." Ayako explains to him.

After Ayako told him this, Shirou thought this was strange because Sakura never mentioned anything about Rin. Maybe one day he could ask her about this. But for now, he decided to go have his lunch. As he walked off, Ayako would follow him as he made his way to the student council room.

When Shirou noticed her, he would question this. "Ayako, why are you following me?"

"Isn't it obvious, I'm going to have lunch with you today. Plus, there are things that I want to say to Issei." Ayako blatantly answers as she moves next to him.

Knowing that he probably wouldn't be able to change her mind, Shirou stayed quiet as they both made it to the student council room. When Shirou opened the door, he would see Issei eating his lunch before he turned around to greet Shirou. Unexpectedly Issei was a little stunned to see Ayako.

But he quickly composed himself before questioning her. "Mitsuzuri, what are you doing here?"

As Ayako heard this, she would walk up to him before speaking. "I'm here to remind a certain student council president about borrowing one of my clubs' members on the first day of practice."

As Ayako and Issei's conversation quickly turns to bickering, Shirou would do his best to ignore them before calmly finding a seat and having his lunch. For some reason he felt that today was going to be a long day.

After Issei and Ayako seemed to come to an understanding, they would join Shirou in having lunch and talk with each other. When lunch came to an end, they would all go to their classes. Then soon enough school would come to an end and Shirou would find himself walking home.

As Shirou got home, he would soon be greeted by Irisviel. "Welcome back Shirou. Sella's home, so you can go upstairs and do your homework. We'll call you if we need anything, okay."

Shirou could do nothing but agree with his mom before heading upstairs. However, as he got into his room and put his bag down, he felt something calling out to him. Shirou would sigh at this before going to his closet and with a few words a golden gate suddenly opened.

Shirou would soon step through the gate and find himself within a strange place. It had different stairways leading into all kinds of places. Some stairways went up and down, others were on the sides, and some were even upside down. But Shirou didn't pay attention to any of them, instead he was looking at a golden helmet that floated in front of him.

"Sorry Nabu, today was a little busier than usual." Shirou said as he spoke to the helmet.

In return he would hear a voice speak in his mind. "It matters not, all that matters is that you are here. Now, let us go, there is much to be done."

When hearing this Shirou would walk up to the helmet to then place it on his head. With a flash of light Shirou was gone. In his place, was a figure dressed in a dark blue suit, with golden boots, gauntlets, and a cape.

This is an agent of order and he, no they, will protect the order of this world and if anyone were to try to disturb it then they will answer to Dr. Fate.

A/N: Thank you for reading this chapter and feel free to leave a review or ask a question. If you don't know then this is my second story. So, if you like this first chapter then please go take a look at my other story Fate Grand Marvel. Now if you can't already tell then this story takes place in a world similar toFate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya. But it begins a year before the events from the anime and the 5th Holy Grail war will still take place. You will also see characters from Fate/Apocrypha, Hollow Ataraxia, and Fate Stay Night. Now before I go, I have a few more things to say. First, in this story both Shinji and Zouken Matou are dead, and I'll explain how in a later chapter. Second Dr. Fate will operate a little differently compare to how he does in the comics. Shirou will mostly be in control but if needed than Nabu will take control. Lastly this story will mostly focus on the magic side of Dc, so don't expect to see characters like Clark Kent Superman.
